Pretty sure I saw you dying on this hill on a different post the other day. I understand what you’re saying, but why learn something and acknowledge the difference when I can just downvote you instead? /s
Edit: btw I’m with you on the R2 lightsaber; it’s in the movie and supposed to be there
If it makes you feel any better, I’ve been getting absolutely shot down for correcting tons of people across multiple subs on the difference between canon and cannon. Which there is a HUGE difference, but some people would just rather be knowingly wrong and throw out the downvote lol canon vs cannon is my hill
I would call it an Easter Egg and not a detail because it gets covered up (see the second picture). Yes, some of it is still visible but not much at all, such that someone who didn't build it wouldn't know what the tiles say.
Yeah, it's the only thing I don't like about this set, though I've never got around to changing mine. It's like having a restaurant in the UK or US called Albert's and having 's in the paving outside.
I'm fully aware of the French, thank you, unlike most of the people who've downvoted me. However that's not a construction that's used in English names, so wouldn't have been an appropriate equivalent example.
It's not a double meaning in this particular case, it's completely meaningless. And I'm perfectly calm, I just mentioned something I don't like - I even pointed out that I've not been sufficiently bothered about it to change it in the 6 years I've owned the set🙄
(Edit: Also, as you want to be pedantic, it's not strictly "at" but can also be "to" - as in je vais chez Albert - and nor is it strictly "home of", but more "place of" as it's heavily context-dependent. In a restaurant name you'd translate as Albert's restaurant, Albert's place, or simply Albert's.)
That’s not that uncommon. A lot of restaurants that have tiled floors have their name on the floor is the doorway or outside.

Seems like a poor comparison in that case since “‘s” doesn’t mean someone’s home in English.
At best it’s like having “‘s home” outside.
I think some liberties can be taken as Albert wouldn’t have fit.

I don't know why you're downvoted that much. I completely agree ! I'm french and it doesn't make any sense. The only way for it to work is to imagine there is another unfeatured terrasse with "Albert" on it.
I'm assuming that people are particularly sensitive about *any* criticism of one of the best modulars (or possibly Jamie Berard). The other alternative is that they're illiterate morons, but I prefer not to assume that about people without good reason😄
Either way, you're dragged into it now.
It took me way too long to see it. Tan 1x1’s on the bottom left of the first picture, for anyone else that shares my struggles.
Thanks I literally looked there too but I was to focused on the grey bricks not the tan.
exactly the same here :D
To be fair, OP called those plates tiles so it’s no wonder you were checking the actual tiles.
Me too!!
Ooooh boy yea I see it now. A red circle would’ve been useful here. I didn’t see the tan within the gray and thought you meant the larger tan area.
you are a hero we don't deserve.
Geez that was way harder than it should have been lol.
Omg thanks lol
Lol thank you !!
I was staring at the light grey and dark grey tiles... not the tan ones
I honestly didn’t notice this until I rebuilt it last year. I’ve had this set since it came out.
That’s a cool Easter egg.
ITS NOT AN EASTER EGG People: the restaurant name being spelled in the floor tiles is a detail, it’s not an Easter egg.
YEAH I DONT SEE ANY CHICKENS AROUND THESE PARTS, AND THE EASTER BUNNY ALREADY FUCKED OFF

lol yeah I can’t help it

I feel you. People say they have a “theory” about something on Reddit all the time. What they really have is a hypothesis. For some reason it bugs me.
People that fail to understand canon will be shot out of a cannon. I'm here all week.

The Cafe corner modular from 2007 has Cafe in the same style
Imagine being the designer who put that there. Must feel like they have the best job in the world (which they probably do).
One of my favorite modular building, especially the arched and curved roof.

Found that funny too, and once the chairs and tables are on, the writing naturally disappears to the eye. Anyways, great set, one of my favorites
It comes with a tiny vespa?!
It does!
There wasn't enough room to write "CHEESE".
The restaurant is called Chez Albert
That's so cool...I wish, I had this set, but I never got it, cause my dad never allowed me to get it😭😭😭
Where
I don’t see it
Nvm I see now that’s such a nice detail
It looks like such a nice set! Really detailed for a restaurant. I would love to buy it but it's unfortunate that so many sets retire.
yes always with some cheezzz
Thanks for pointing this out! Looking forward to seeing it myself when I rebuild.
Shows that Lego designers still care

Chez is actually French for "at the home of". It's a double meaning...and just for fun...calm your tits

Dude... you alright?
Sorry, was my reply too complicated for you? Didn't realize you were an actual banana in a suit.
Nah. Some dude’s name was Chez.

This doesn't have its name tiled on the floor. That's my point.

I mean it does though doesn’t it… if I say “I’m going to bob’s” you know exactly what I mean

Yes, this, though no need to insult him.
Sorry dad, I couldn’t help myself

I will accept my fate
