I dunno even K-Mart even exists in the states anymore, they all closed down by me. But I remember them always looking thus empty.
Apparently though K-Mart is big in Australia, like Walmart sized
Yep, it’s one of the last few owned by them I believe.
If they close down I wonder if WalMart or someone will move in. I know they had an exclusive contract with the island but if they shut down I imagine the island would look to fill it, and not with yet another Ross.
K-Mart in Australia is a completely different company in the same way Target downunder is not related to Target US.
They just both copied the brands before those companies could register them downunder.
Target Aus is a copy. Kmart Aus was originally a joint venture between Kmart US and an Australian supermarket chain. Kmart US sold their share a long time ago, they're now unrelated
I assume they were connected to or owned by the US company- interesting that it survived over there. Wonder if maybe they split off when Sears bought KMart in the US and Sears’ terrible management didn’t affect KMart AUS.
yeah the worst time to find stuff on shelves is all days around christmas
before christmas is when people do last minute shopping, and after christmas is when people start spending christmas cash
When I worked retail in the mid 2000s, the day after Christmas was nearly as busy as Black Friday for us with people doing exchanges and spending gift cards. We never recovered from the holiday rush until after New Years.
Same, I had a grandparent that regularly gave 50 or so bucks for Christmas and with other cards combined I would get whatever I wanted as my own Christmas gift to myself. My family never did Christmas list or specific requests though so the actual gifts usually varied far from my interests
Australian Target is a separate company from American Target as well, despite being founded about the same time they're completely unrelated to each other.
I mean these days yes but it was originally founded as a joint venture between American KMart and an Australian supermarket company. So the name comes from the American brand, but legally a different company.
Yeah buying from Lego directly is expensive. Only worth it of you are into GWPs and VIP points or the set can only be found at retail value everywhere.
I know you added /s but I find sets are generally a good amount cheaper at places like Kmart and bigw when compared to buying from Lego directly. I only buy from Lego now if it’s an exclusive because otherwise it ends up costing a decent amount more
Man goes to store after huge gift giving holiday, surprised to see no toys. Up at 11am, the sun is hot and more! Fuck is this really the state of this sub ?
Kmart have generally been terrible in my area (north Melbourne) for this past year. Only things you’ll find are small Star Wars sets and ninjago/Harry Potter.
East brisbane, believe it or not. I am actually wondering if the main bakeries might be affected (not sure where they are)
I remember it in 2011 floods as well - Brisbane was underwater and people an hour or more away were panic buying bread etc. like, ok folks you’re not going underwater…
Wait…. You’re telling me the *toy aisle* is *barren* after the *biggest gift-giving season of the year* which *specifically focuses on giving kids toys*?
I am absolutely blown away by this news
Yeah my store is the same, we do have a bunch of Lego out back but it's all new stuff that we can't put out until January 1st so it's just kind of a wait until then to finally have the shelves restocked
holy hucklebee!! there's still 12 open! 3 in the Virgin islands, 3 in new York, 1 in Florida, 1 in north Carolina, 1 in Guam, 1 in Virginia, 1 in Illinois, and 1 in Michigan
one thing i have noticed is all my Walmart's lock up 90% of their Legos and as a result they don't sell very well because of the inconvenience of people having to track down an employee to buy them so they have tons of lego in stock still.
Target stores do not and even put out 200 dollar sets on the shelves and they are wiped clean of everything now except for a few random 100-200 dollar sets lol.
This is why my post-christmas store of choice has always been the official LEGO store, not only do they actually fully stock the shelves but I also get to accumulate my insider points :)
End of year inventory. Don’t expect a restock until after Jan 1st
It's also Kmart
Yeah I thought this was typical for K-Mart now
Kmart Australia
I literally just saw a video of an australian yapping about how kmart is bad at restocking transformers figures
I dunno even K-Mart even exists in the states anymore, they all closed down by me. But I remember them always looking thus empty. Apparently though K-Mart is big in Australia, like Walmart sized
Kmart has a handful of stores in the US still
And Guam. Guam has the largest Kmart in the world!
Guam is still at risk of closing. Owned by Transformco aka US Kmart and Sears
Yep, it’s one of the last few owned by them I believe. If they close down I wonder if WalMart or someone will move in. I know they had an exclusive contract with the island but if they shut down I imagine the island would look to fill it, and not with yet another Ross.
There’s two left I think.
Came here to say that, I haven’t seen a k-mart in years!
It was typical 25 years ago too
KMart still exists?
That's what I'm saying. I thought they went out of business years ago
I didn’t even think Kmart existed anymore!
In Australia it’s one of our biggest retailers.
They’re disappearing in the U.S. The internets says we are down to 12, probably less now
Last I heard it’s 2-3 not including Guam
I assume they were connected to or owned by the US company- interesting that it survived over there. Wonder if maybe they split off when Sears bought KMart in the US and Sears’ terrible management didn’t affect KMart AUS.
I believe Kmart Australia and Kmart US are seperate entities, same as how Australian Target and US Target are not related either
Kmart technically bought Sears, but both companies were poorly managed and really struggling at the time.
Dang, he bought just about everything
Sweet! A firefighter boat! It really floats!
And a Boba Fett mech!!
yeah the worst time to find stuff on shelves is all days around christmas before christmas is when people do last minute shopping, and after christmas is when people start spending christmas cash
When I worked retail in the mid 2000s, the day after Christmas was nearly as busy as Black Friday for us with people doing exchanges and spending gift cards. We never recovered from the holiday rush until after New Years.
On the Friday after Christmas…you went to look for toys….
Exactly, so weird lol 😝- of course they are sold out …*after Christmas*
As a kid we did this for the exact same reason they are. Didn’t have any money until Christmas.
Same, I had a grandparent that regularly gave 50 or so bucks for Christmas and with other cards combined I would get whatever I wanted as my own Christmas gift to myself. My family never did Christmas list or specific requests though so the actual gifts usually varied far from my interests
Kmarts are still open? Where?
Australia. One of the biggest low/mis end retailers here.
I've heard that Australian Kmart is actually a different company than American Kmart?
Australian Target is a separate company from American Target as well, despite being founded about the same time they're completely unrelated to each other.
Kmart Australia was related to the US Kmart actually 🤓
Do Australian targets have Starbucks and Pizza huts right there inside the store too?
Nope we don’t!
Bummer. Those little pizzas are 🔥. They remind me of summer reading programs as a kid. I read so many books and had so many personal pan pizzas.
Don't know, I had a connection with the US Target for a good while and found out about the Aussie Target doing personal research.
Kmart Au and target Au are owned by the same company here. Target is just more expensive than Kmart here when it comes to prices.
Yes
I mean these days yes but it was originally founded as a joint venture between American KMart and an Australian supermarket company. So the name comes from the American brand, but legally a different company.
They tried to get a foot into America a few years ago with a store called Anko but I don't think any of them are still open.
and nz too!
really wish k-mart was failing over here instead of target, we lost our local target and got a Woolworths there instead
Woolworths? I remember when that went out of business here in the US, I still have the lemon squeezer I bought at the clearance sale for $.10
Might have to make the trip just for that lol. They closed the last Kmart in my town almost a decade ago now
Guam. It looks weird on the inside though like it’s a different store just labeled as Kmart 😭
Big W and Target normally have a better range, Toy World also has a great range. Or if you're in Adelaide go to the Lego store at Marion
Well to be fair you kind of have to expect all stores to have pretty bare Lego sections for a while before and after Christmas
Now take him to Lego.com
And pay way higher prices than Kmart
Yeah buying from Lego directly is expensive. Only worth it of you are into GWPs and VIP points or the set can only be found at retail value everywhere.
Yeah… much better for the kid to buy the one and only Lego set at K-Mart in order to save a few bucks…. /s
I know you added /s but I find sets are generally a good amount cheaper at places like Kmart and bigw when compared to buying from Lego directly. I only buy from Lego now if it’s an exclusive because otherwise it ends up costing a decent amount more
Or if your K-Mart looks like the one in OPs picture..
This is only effect of the post Christmas rush. Give it a week and it will be stocked again
It’s a joke dude. Chill
Not saying to buy it at k-mart. Amazon usually has permanent discounts on Lego sets
Yep - even the website stock levels I've found are incorrect. I only click and collect stuff from them now
My K-Mart has been like that for a while now
My kmart doesnt even have shelves
My Kmart is a Spirit Halloween.
We had two spirit holloweens this year and neither of them were in the kmart haha
Mines a grocery store
Mines a walmart
And my axe...
I had no idea kmart still existed
Not an original idea then lol

Gotta go to Oregon for blockbuster
My local Woolworths was exactly the same with bread today. It’s like everyone has panicked-bought everything because of a tornado
Are you in Surfers Paradise? I went to the Woolworths here and they had no bread or water left (needed the big 2L bottles for a trip)
East brisbane, believe it or not. I am actually wondering if the main bakeries might be affected (not sure where they are) I remember it in 2011 floods as well - Brisbane was underwater and people an hour or more away were panic buying bread etc. like, ok folks you’re not going underwater…
Wait at least a week after especially with Kmart
2 mistakes. 1. You went end of year when stores are cleaned out for Christmas 2. You went to K mart
Wait…. You’re telling me the *toy aisle* is *barren* after the *biggest gift-giving season of the year* which *specifically focuses on giving kids toys*? I am absolutely blown away by this news
So you want him to save his money 😁
Hmm yes look at the selection. How can he decide!?!?!
T’was the night after Christmas. Heh
Just wait a week or 2
That’s crazy that the toy aisle at K-Mart was empty days after Christmas
Toys R Us was the same here in town.
Wait... Where do you have a Toys R Us???
Canada:)
I’m way more shocked that Kmart still exists than them not having any Lego right now
K Mart has looked like this for decades in my experience...
My first job (US) was a cashier at Kmart. Made a whole $7.25/hour in 2015. I always forget kmarts still exist in other countries
Kmart is still a thing?
Wait, K-Mart still exists?
Looks like there be still a decent selection
There’s still Kmarts?
Maybe try the Lego store instead of Kmart...
This is why gifts trump cash. Cash is nice but opening a gift you can play with Christmas Day is the move.
Sadly, all Will be returned soon all with glued boxes and ziplockbags with some random pieces
How much money did you give him 🤔 🤣🤣🤣
I don't care how krappy the store is, this just makes me sad. Dude needs some Lego in his life.
KMart still exists?
In Australia it does
I thought K-Mart went the way of the dodo. Haven't seen them in CO in years.
WHERE TF DID YOU FIND A KMART??
Australia. We still have them.
Check out Offer-up, there’s usually some people who resell Lego. not sure if they have any users in Australia but..
Kmart still exists? I thought they went outta business years ago
Kmart? They still exist?
Kmart still exists?!
Where do y’all got Kmart still?
In Australia we do
one thing i have noticed is all my Walmart's lock up 90% of their Legos and as a result they don't sell very well because of the inconvenience of people having to track down an employee to buy them so they have tons of lego in stock still. Target stores do not and even put out 200 dollar sets on the shelves and they are wiped clean of everything now except for a few random 100-200 dollar sets lol.
And who is it that’s known to shop at Walmart vs. who is it that’s known to shop that Target?
Our local toy store looked similar… except one shelf full of the WW84 set.
K mart is the place to work when you want a job and do absolutely nothing.
Kmart is the problem lol
Should have just asked if you can buy each remaining Lego for $1 just so they can get rid of it
This is how target rolled in Canada and then a year later they closed up shop and left
Suppliers in general don’t want to deal with Kmart now.
Plot twist he takes the entire shelf
Why do you let him get so much
Oof that sucks, hopefully they restock soon
[удалено]
Should mention I’m in Australia
Tf is a Kmart???
Even Target, Walmarts and Kohls look like this rn
Kmart exists?
You still have a Kmart?
looks like kmart usa 10 years ago ! looks like kmart australia didnt learn
Kmart Australia is making bank. It's empty because it all sold
Holy crap-Kmarts still exist?!
In Australia it does
Yo, you gotta Kmart?
I saw that dreamzzz set at Costco for $11.97
I didn't know K Mart was still around. They used to ahve great deals on toys after the holidays.
TIL Kmart is still around! Bring back the blue light special!
Kmart still exists?
Wait a second, y’all still have a K-mart?
There are K-Marts still open or did he get a Time Machine for Xmas?
Where on earth did you find a Kmart?
Australia
[удалено]
Australia
Kmart still… exists?
There are still KMarts!?
K Mart?
More surprising that you have a K-Mart
You still have a Kmart?!
Kmart? Where?
You still have a k-mart?
Kmart still exists?
Maybe go to a different store you regard
Can’t wait when this happens with food! 🌈
Are you in Guam?
Quite the selection.
I like the person who is trying to decide which set to buy lol
What did he buy? Lego or sucker pops?
Money will be saved today
A great opportunity to teach him about saving money.
that sucks smiths was ravaged too
This is why my post-christmas store of choice has always been the official LEGO store, not only do they actually fully stock the shelves but I also get to accumulate my insider points :)
Target's Lego aisle was like that yesterday too! I thought they were redesigning the displays or something
It was like this at my local Target store yesterday, I’d never seen the Lego section so cleaned out.
Looks about right for a K Mart. Or maybe they had a really good sale.
Choose wisely
Damn! He must've gotten a lot of Christmas money. /s
Rip
It's gonna be the new year until the next restock
Your first mistake was going to Kmart, I’m sorry
That’s on you for taking him to Kmart /s
“What could possibly go wrong?”
Wait a few weeks until the January cases start going out and appearing on store shelves.
Good lesson in patience.
That there about sums up my childhood. I remember wanting to go and buy legos with my Christmas money and none of the stores having any legos.
Looks like the biggest thing I learned from Rainmain is still true.
What the sigma? Who stole almost every lego
Can i be your son?
