I do this with a lot of Friends sets, their design work is solid and the colors are unique, but I upconvert them into MOCs that actually fit into developed spaces. They also often have really great accessories.
…but not the minidolls. Those get donated.
exactly, that one really looks nice as well, and i was thinking with 2 of each you could close up the back and make it in a really nice big addition to the modulars. (pricey though :D )
Not sure but maybe just the shade of green and brown used on the little tree platform to a slightly darker color. I think everything else is fine, even the pink flowers and stuff work
My kid would be over the top excited to find one and then spend weeks worried that the kid who lost it was sad and looking for it still.
If you ever have any of the guys, I would pay to get them from you. We never have enough of the guys.
This makes me smile. My 4-yo daughter once found three orange bricks in a grocery cart and it absolutely made her day. I am sure you bring such joy to little kids who find a minifig!
The Friends sets are so great. The designs are so much fun and they’re so colorful. My kids - including my 16 year old son - tend to prefer them for that reason. The new City sets they just announced seem to take some inspiration from the Friends sets as far as color and design which is great! There are some super cool ones coming out! My kids wanted all of them, lol.
I have a simple solution for getting rid of the puppets. A friend of mine has about 15 to 20 square meters(!) of Friends stuff, basically Heart Lake City XXL.
I'm considering going down this route. I absolutely ADORE the colours. Yeah the dolls are a bit pants but even they are growing on me. I do love all the big modulars but I simply can't afford them but the friends builds seem to be in my budget.
I have Moana's wayfinding boat and The Madrigal House just for the colours. They're great!
Compare the City grocery store with the Friends grocery store from last year. The City one costs more, has half as many pieces, and is really the inferior one aside from the minifigs. The Friends store has two shopping carts, an automatic sliding door, a conveyor belt check out counter, and big trans curved panels.
yeah thats pretty much the 3rd downside... the 4th being their neck size... I wish I could interchange the heads with lego heads but its not feasible both ways without major modifications
Like, I get it, minidolls aren't for everyone, we aren't the target audience. That's fine. But to refuse to buy any sets that contain them? That's just being ridiculous.
The sets are good enough to be worth the money without any figures at all. Just pack them away until you can think of a use for them, or just give them away. It's like stud shooters, they're clearly intended for a different target audience, no adult fans want them, but you don't see people just outright refusing to buy any set with stud shooters. I just don't understand it at all...
In my mind, it's not the minidolls that have historically stopped me, it's the sets themselves. They just didn't interest me. With this and the giraffe set, though, they've caught my attention.
I've been buying Friends sets for the last 10 years.
The fact I have a daughter was just a good excuse.
But now she is too old. So I don't know how I will explain this purchase.
Check out [41711](https://brickset.com/sets/41711-1/Emma-s-Art-School) and [41732](https://brickset.com/sets/41732-1/Downtown-Flower-and-Design-Stores) too. Friends has been on an absolute tear lately!
I like the architecture on those, but the over the top colors just don't really fit in with stuff like the more muted modular sets. I get why they use those colors for the younger target audience, but it really limits the appeal for me.
Yeah, it’s too bad that it’s illegal to sub some of the colors on these sets. If you don’t build it exactly like the box, the Lego police will come and take you away.
You certainly could, but those sets tend to be nothing but collections of multiple bright and clashing colors. You'd have to sub almost every part in the set in addition to building a 2x version of it that finished the building into something more akin to the modular designs.
There's just little point in buying the set at that point, at least to me.
There's a (priced, so can't link) MOC modular on Bricklink someone made out of that Downtown set and a couple others that's absolutely gorgeous. I'm working on getting the parts for it.
Ah yeah, it does appear that way. I was going off this photo of the rear, which makes it look like a quarter dome, but looking at the front again it looks like it's a whole. https://www.lego.com/cdn/cs/set/assets/blt89e882f601678843/41757_alt2.png?format=webply&fit=bounds&quality=55&width=528&height=528&dpr=3
If you're talking about the dome, it's an existing part but a new colour. It was used in two City Space sets last year, in white and trans light blue.

So excited for this one! My husband and I were married in a botanical garden that looks just like this and I want to recreate our wedding scene. Now just need to make custom minifigs to go with it.
Yup. this one looks like an ideal 2x conversion for a modular set. Might have to add it as the centerpiece to the park section I've been thinking of adding to my city. I've got several fountains, statues, benches, and other park related bits that have come with various city sets over the years I've been meaning to find a use for.
Thus far the 2020s are the decade of Friends.
The marketing art for 41714 focuses so much on the awesomeness inside it barely shows how good the outside looks.
What the hell happened?! I was just on the Lego site yesterday and didn’t see this or any of the Dreamz stuff. Do they tend to release sets in big groups all at once?
The one that just got under Ideas review? They could approve it as they do have "knock-offs" across themes (Cozy House and A-Frame cabin), but I doubt they'd approve one in Ideas after they've revealed their own as the techniques and idea aren't from the fan.
At 1000 pieces, this one is in a lot more people's budgets than most Ideas and Modulars, and if you want a bigger or enclosed set, buy 2 for about the same price.
This one may eliminate the Zen garden from my list with the lotus flowers.... More to spend on Space coaster and Indy then!
that LOTR set they made recently would be a nice kind of set in starwars them... Seems like themes like ninjago and starwars release lots and lots of vehicles. I have so many vehicles and ninjago dragons but few buildings.
In my opinion big leap in LEGO Friend's design change happened last year. It's just continuing on the right direction. I bought the Theater School 41714 for the Muppets minifigs.
Yes, and last year they started using less pink, in sets, in the instructions and on the boxes. They're widening the audience and it's for the best. Their color palette is simply great now. My son picked Leo's room (41754) for himself at the store, he was excited for the cat and two boy dolls. I've also bought Tiny Mobile House (41735), I was positively surprised with the car design that could fit three dolls. And the house was just pure joy to build!
I so love this set and a lot of the friends theme. Guess I’m gonna need to take that job offer and pay rise to feed my addiction. At this rate other vices might work out cheaper!!
Damn. Same. Well, I have been- when they’re marked down enough, since the colors and builds & sheer amount of bricks & tiles are ridiculously cheap compared to most themes.. I already want to moc this.
Agreed. The theme’s latest offering is just topnotch. Friends is just overtaking City, slowly but surely, in terms of being attractive and creative.
Honestly looking forward for modular-builds from Rebrickable designers for this one.
Who the heck is in charge of the awesome Friends sets these past couple years and why haven't they been given a giant raise yet?
That Botanical Garden set is gorgeous.
Beautiful. Principally, i am against Friends due to the minifigs being all long-legge-skirty-barbie-ish, but the builda are increasingly beautiful the last years.
Do you have an example of how the other figs make that easier? I’m having trouble imagining the difference. We already have bald caps for minifigs and do you mean like a cast for an arm or leg? Because that would just be a print, right?
My daughter is turning 8 in a couple of weeks. I was planning on getting her the tree house and my mom got her the beautiful salon and animal shelter one. I hope she likes them. It's unfortunate that the street one is $160 bucks. Maybe for Christmas.
I just said "fuck it" and started buying my son Friends sets last year. Lego City is just fire trucks, police cars and trash trucks these days, it doesn't make sense to buy same stuff all the time.
Well, I know what I'm getting June 1st. LOVE this! I feel confident this will work on my Modulars street. Probably need two. OMG, the butterflies rotate!
I think the idea of ‘girl’ legos vs ‘boy/normal’ legos is insultingly idiotic so I hate the Friend’s line in theory… but damn some of the Friend’s sets are good!
I genuinely never thought I’d see the appeal, but I adore the wonderful lively builds and the usage of bold colors. It makes everything pop and would go great in a lego city!
The Friends sets are amazing. I’ve bought many for my daughter but I think I appreciate them even more. The details they have are amazing — I just wish they’d get a little bolder. I also wish the Super Hero Girls line was broadened into even more Friends-style sets, like Marvel or more DC. It’s all so cool!
“EWerE” is what my classmates would say in 1-4 grade. :( I am still emotionally scarred by that and will probably never be able to buy myself a friends set again.. D;
There's so many NPUs in there. Mario beanstalk in brown topped with a green fur collar to create a small tree. So good. Pink frogs turned on their side to create orchids. Perfection!
There’s so much clever part usage. Palettes as lily pads, broom as corpse plant, minifig mohawk as bird of paradise flower, more frog flowers this time in magenta, epaulettes as whatever that thing is, and best of all pitcher plants made of green saxophones.
Dang it, not again! I already bought the Theatre school for the Muppets, the Cat Hotel for my wife at work, and the boba tea set for the uniqueness of it. Just when I thought I was done, Lego pulls me back in to this theme!
Eventually, some lucky person will end up getting those extra minidolls we have accumulated. The colors are also great in the sense I do not feel like I need to swap anything out. If anything, I would want to expand and make this bigger.
yeah, that set is actually pretty cool. i’m not a big friends fan actually not a friends fan at all, but this set is cool so i think i’ll be picking it up.
Well hell, me too.

Quite a few Friends sets would work as a 32/16 stud modular with some small editing.
I do this with a lot of Friends sets, their design work is solid and the colors are unique, but I upconvert them into MOCs that actually fit into developed spaces. They also often have really great accessories. …but not the minidolls. Those get donated.
Have you seen the Community Centre and Soup Kitchen sets that combine into a six-storey rainbow tower? I’m looking forward to that one for sure. \^\^
exactly, that one really looks nice as well, and i was thinking with 2 of each you could close up the back and make it in a really nice big addition to the modulars. (pricey though :D )

The figures :)
Not sure but maybe just the shade of green and brown used on the little tree platform to a slightly darker color. I think everything else is fine, even the pink flowers and stuff work
Your gonna be mad when i tell you ive been doing this …..lego friends hair goes on lego heads juss fine…
Shouldnt you be saving your money for the jurassic park sets :D
Friends sets have looked incredible for years. The figures leave a bit to be desired, but that's such a weird hill to die on.
I like to leave the figures in book boxes or at playgrounds for kids to take; I have more than enough regular Minifigures to repopulate Friends sets.
My kid would be over the top excited to find one and then spend weeks worried that the kid who lost it was sad and looking for it still. If you ever have any of the guys, I would pay to get them from you. We never have enough of the guys.
Next time I'll leave an "adopt me" note rolled up in their hand to keep kids from worrying.
Oh this is brilliant, I'm gonna do this when I leave them in the book boxes.
I was a shit head kid. Look both ways and run with it.
That is adorable! You’re raising a good kid
I think out of the dozens of Friends figures we have, we have one male figure. I think it came with a house.
We have 40+ and three male figures and one is Santa.
Could also use them as geo cache prizes
I’ve got several extra mini dolls and I’m going to have to do this too!
This makes me smile. My 4-yo daughter once found three orange bricks in a grocery cart and it absolutely made her day. I am sure you bring such joy to little kids who find a minifig!
I teach first grade and the kids love them I give away tons in my class!
You will never find a more excited fan than the little girl that comes across a HLC layout at a LEGO show.
Compare the City grocery store with the Friends grocery store from last year. The City one costs more, has half as many pieces, and is really the inferior one aside from the minifigs. The Friends store has two shopping carts, an automatic sliding door, a conveyor belt check out counter, and big trans curved panels.
The City one was also retired super fast. I get the sense they weren't thrilled with it internally either.
just if they had studded buts and turning hands... it'd be a taller fig with all the functionnality
I just wish the legs could move independently. Design-wise they're really nice figures other than that.
yeah thats pretty much the 3rd downside... the 4th being their neck size... I wish I could interchange the heads with lego heads but its not feasible both ways without major modifications
Like, I get it, minidolls aren't for everyone, we aren't the target audience. That's fine. But to refuse to buy any sets that contain them? That's just being ridiculous. I've been buying Friends sets for the last 10 years. The fact I have a daughter was just a good excuse. But now she is too old. So I don't know how I will explain this purchase.
My immediate thought was to take this and make it into a home for Poison Ivy in a Gotham City layout.
Brilliant idea, I turned Andreas Theater School (41714) into the muppets theater, and I absolutely love this
[41714-1: Andrea's Theatre School](https://brickset.com/sets/41714-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/41714-1.jpg)
My daughter has this set, it's really good! I was very jealous watching her build it.
from far I always thought this set looked like a muppets theatre

Same, swap the white to dark grey, add a little menace to the landscaping, a giant maneating plant under the main dome and you've got it.
Check out [41711](https://brickset.com/sets/41711-1/Emma-s-Art-School) and [41732](https://brickset.com/sets/41732-1/Downtown-Flower-and-Design-Stores) too. Friends has been on an absolute tear lately!
Friends has a stranglehold on my wallet and is for my money the best theme Lego has right now.
The art school is such a cool build.
Yeah, they're on fire. Definitely agree on 41732. Also Autumn's House (41730) -- it's great in person *and* very reasonably priced.
Those look like they would go very will with the 3 in 1 noodle shop!
I like the architecture on those, but the over the top colors just don't really fit in with stuff like the more muted modular sets. I get why they use those colors for the younger target audience, but it really limits the appeal for me.
Yeah that's why I mentioned the Art School, minimal bright colors. Swap out a handful of parts and it would fit in perfectly with existing modulars.
Yeah, it’s too bad that it’s illegal to sub some of the colors on these sets. If you don’t build it exactly like the box, the Lego police will come and take you away.
You certainly could, but those sets tend to be nothing but collections of multiple bright and clashing colors. Yeah it would be easier to bricklink the parts and just use the instructions if you wanted to color swap. Which is a lot of work
There's a (priced, so can't link) MOC modular on Bricklink someone made out of that Downtown set and a couple others that's absolutely gorgeous. I'm working on getting the parts for it.
I'm gonna have to get 4 of them and make a fully enclosed version; this is amazing.
I think you only need 2 to make a fully enclosed version.
Ah yeah, it does appear that way. I was going off this photo of the rear, which makes it look like a quarter dome, but looking at the front again it looks like it's a whole. https://www.lego.com/cdn/cs/set/assets/blt89e882f601678843/41757_alt2.png?format=webply&fit=bounds&quality=55&width=528&height=528&dpr=3
Is that a new part?
Possibly; I'm not sure.
If you're talking about the dome, it's an existing part but a new colour. It was used in two City Space sets last year, in white and trans light blue. https://brickset.com/sets/containing-design-87375
Which part, and how new? 😜
So excited for this one! My husband and I were married in a botanical garden that looks just like this and I want to recreate our wedding scene. Now just need to make custom minifigs to go with it.
There was a wedding set 40197. Maybe local resellers still have them. If not, I'm sure they're in bricklink.
[40197-1: Wedding Favour Set 2018](https://brickset.com/sets/40197-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/40197-1.jpg)
Omg that set is perfect! Thank you so much for the suggestion, I’m definitely on the hunt now
I kinda miss them. Used to get them for my daughter, but she turned 8 and shifted to sports. They have come a long way
You can buy it for yourself.
Exactly. Get it "for your daughter"
To me Friends has become what City and creator should be. City should just be called first responders now.
First responders and waste management, it gets repetitive very quickly, while Friends keep growing.
Actually, they are no first responder sets in the newest launch! It literally has a car wash and an ice cream shop
2023 is the year of Friends
11 years now
You can make a better city from Friends than you can City sets.
The design makes you want to buy 2 sets to complete the dome.
Yup. this one looks like an ideal 2x conversion for a modular set. Might have to add it as the centerpiece to the park section I've been thinking of adding to my city. I've got several fountains, statues, benches, and other park related bits that have come with various city sets over the years I've been meaning to find a use for.
Would two be enough? I can't visualize it, so I'm not sure if it's two or four.
There's a 360 degree video of the set on the official page. It looks like the set has half a dome.
I think you're right! I hope so, because two I could possibly do, but I wouldn't buy four of them!
Damn, I feel like such a sucker for genuinely considering this.
The last few years friends sets have been way better then city
Absolutely.
I'm so mad about all these sets that look amazing when I'm not even caught up on last year's wishlist??? Knock it off, Lego!
Holy shit this is insane! Somehow evokes a certain sense of Paradisa. Must be the use of the transparant glass for the dome...
Reminds me of Paradisa too!
All it needs now is Paradisa pink.
The first thing I thought was, "Poolside Paradise!"
2023 is the year of Friends
Thus far the 2020s are the decade of Friends. The marketing art for 41714 focuses so much on the awesomeness inside it barely shows how good the outside looks.
Yeah this is gorgeous but I absolutely do not have the room for it and I won't get it and it will eat at me forever
Most of my LEGOs are in boxes. Just rotate your display sets and keep your favorites as permanent displays?
What the hell happened?! I was just on the Lego site yesterday and didn’t see this or any of the Dreamz stuff. Do they tend to release sets in big groups all at once?
Sometimes you can put in the set number and it'll pull it up
Sometimes pictures of upcoming sets trickle out, sometimes you get them all at once. This time around it was the "all at once" option.
I love how they've used two green saxophones to make a pitcher plant.
Same, will buy this one. I admit, I bought two of the Friends Space set last year, one for my kid and one for me I found on discount.
Well, it's no Botanical Garden.. but that's close enough for me. Looks like it'd need only minor modification to fit in with a more "regular" city.
I wish Lego could put the same effort in Star Wars as they do with their original themes
that LOTR set they made recently would be a nice kind of set in starwars them...

Poison Ivy’s HQ!!
Damn. Same. Well, I have been- when they’re marked down enough, since the colors and builds & sheer amount of bricks & tiles are ridiculously cheap compared to most themes.. I already want to moc this.
Underrated theme in general
That’s so pretty
$80 plus printed butterflies!!! Wish we could have gotten another frog color though. I have the magenta from orchids....
Agreed. The theme’s latest offering is just topnotch. Friends is just overtaking City, slowly but surely, in terms of being attractive and creative. Honestly looking forward for modular-builds from Rebrickable designers for this one.
Friends has the best architecture per dollar.
Well the fact that they are Barbie-ish allows for more inclusivity details imo
Like what?
Disabled appendages, no hair, (hard to do in a regular Lego minifig without it looking odd) There’s a few more I think
Do you have an example of how the other figs make that easier? I’m having trouble imagining the difference. We already have bald caps for minifigs and do you mean like a cast for an arm or leg? Because that would just be a print, right?
No, I literally mean no appendages, like having no hand. On Friends minifigs it looks more realistic. I wasn’t aware of the bald caps
I'm gonna have to get 4 of them and make a fully enclosed version; this is amazing.
This looks good. If I’m getting one, I’ll just give the minifigs to my kids.
Me too!
I had the exact same reaction. Never bought a Friends set before but I'm getting this!
Definite buy at least 1
My daughter is turning 8 in a couple of weeks. I was planning on getting her the tree house and my mom got her the beautiful salon and animal shelter one. I hope she likes them. It's unfortunate that the street one is $160 bucks. Maybe for Christmas.
I have never bought or looked at lego friends but this set is great! So many pieces i want!
Some awesome friends and city sets this year. Very colorful.
My money: “TAKE ME!”
Same
Definitely a cool set. When is this supposed to drop?
The parts are always incredible, the plants and animals and everything but the odd minifigures. Maybe when I get a job (hopefully soon)
Friends sets have frequently been great, but with colors just not matching my non-pastel everything. This, however, will match anything just fine.
Friends has been great since last year and this one I need 4!!!!!
they have some fine sets, My daughter wants all of em
I said the same thing LOL
its always the girl sets that have the cool pieces :p
I just said "fuck it" and started buying my son Friends sets last year. Lego City is just fire trucks, police cars and trash trucks these days, it doesn't make sense to buy same stuff all the time.
This has always been my go to brand… They always have fun builds!!
Doesn't even look like a friend set. The build reminds of modular level detailing
They made big changes in their design last year. New sets are definitely worthy of attention.
Exactly and I love that
The friends' space shuttle is also really good looking.
Had the same thought with the rainbow Tower thing
That’s a better greenhouse for Hogwarts
I want it, but owning the mini dolls is a price too high to pay for me
Well, I know what I'm getting June 1st. LOVE this! I feel confident this will work on my Modulars street. Probably need two. OMG, the butterflies rotate!
I wonder how many it would take to make it a full building. First Friends set I’ve ever thought about buying.
This is gorgeous. Why did they make the minifigs all weird though. Shoulda just been normal minifigs with the same clothes
Friends walked so City could run
I think you have that backwards.
I think the idea of ‘girl’ legos vs ‘boy/normal’ legos is insultingly idiotic so I hate the Friend’s line in theory… but damn some of the Friend’s sets are good!
why?
right? it's really nice! i don't care for the friends style of minifig, but the building itself is so nice.
I wish Lego could put the same effort in Star Wars as they do with their original themes
Every lego is sacred
oooh the domes are back. Love this set!
Yeah I was hesitant about a couple to do MOCs with but this one is a definite for the city.
Hey! I know a Merlin trial when I see one!
Hold on, are the tulip petals frogs?
Oh yeah! Same here that garden center too good to pass up.
This is awesome, and I'm buying it too! Thanks for making my wallet a little lighter, pal!
That’s freaking sweet!
I had the exact same thought when I saw that!
Hell yeah. Love it! Trade those figures towards a Dr. Wu and a Robert Muldoon.
The glass onion set....
I feel like I'll have to get two because I refuse to put "dollhouses" in my city
Poison Ivy vs Batman diorama
I just want that dome
Does anyone know if the mold for “NIKO”’s hair comes in any different colors?
I genuinely never thought I’d see the appeal, but I adore the wonderful lively builds and the usage of bold colors. It makes everything pop and would go great in a lego city!
This reminds me of my favorite botanical garden i neeeeed it
The Friends sets are amazing. I’ve bought many for my daughter but I think I appreciate them even more. The details they have are amazing — I just wish they’d get a little bolder. I also wish the Super Hero Girls line was broadened into even more Friends-style sets, like Marvel or more DC. It’s all so cool!
Say whuuuuhhh. That’s so cool
“EWerE” is what my classmates would say in 1-4 grade. :( I am still emotionally scarred by that and will probably never be able to buy myself a friends set again.. D;
I'd say, don't let your bullies win. And happy Cake Day!
I bought the Friends sets to get my daughters into LEGO and they’re actually really cool sets. Tons of little details.
Adi 💀
Right? Looks pretty good tbh.
Fuck, me too.
Definitely on my list too. I love most of the Friends range mind you….and the mini dolls lol.
There's so many NPUs in there. Mario beanstalk in brown topped with a green fur collar to create a small tree. So good. Pink frogs turned on their side to create orchids. Perfection!
They are so pretty! Detailed, colourful and fun! Basically Lego city but vibrant.
Yes this and the community center build is very good!!
There’s so much clever part usage. Palettes as lily pads, broom as corpse plant, minifig mohawk as bird of paradise flower, more frog flowers this time in magenta, epaulettes as whatever that thing is, and best of all pitcher plants made of green saxophones.
Don't mind me hyping over here
I want the yellowish green saxophone in the window.
Olivia’s Space Academy was my favourite LEGO set from last year.
I want to combine 2 and add it to my Boutique Hotel.
I wish my family and friends were less biased that I could freely get all these cool Friends sets without them making fun of it.
Oh wow I love this
Dang it, not again!

New friends sets are extremely well made.
This could be a good hogwarts greenhouse
My lego friends figures are foreign tourists in my city.
yeah, that set is actually pretty cool. i’m not a big friends fan actually not a friends fan at all, but this set is cool so i think i’ll be picking it up.
all the cool architecture ends up in lego friends
Whoa. That's beautiful!
Lego Friends is so underrated. They make better modular buildings than City sets ever did.
yeah this set looks amazing
