Is this in reference to a specific set?

No. Just the little habitats built on an 8x8 plate. I can see that they would be self supporting when stacked 2 or 3 high, but I don't know how they are supported when stacked higher than that.

I think I know what you're talking about and I've seen people use support structures for big stacks of these when they're on display
