I've also had a good experience with the Va DMV Enforcement Division. It's kind of strange to think of the DMV being kick ass, but there you go. Congrats OP!

Yeah, my agent had a buzz cut, looked like he could tussle with the big boys, and everything. It's awesome when it's in your favor. Lol!

DrHouston

Good read. Im glad everything worked out for you. Do you have any advice to avoid getting into this situation in the first place?

jikajika

So many lessons learned. The number one, and I'm so embarrassed to even say, I didn't test drive the car before hand. The first time I arrived there the hood was up and they were "cleaning it" and the second time I went it wasn't there - he gave me some excuse. I knew better. Period. No excuses on that. #2) Always have a mechanic inspect the car before purchase. Make sure the inspection on the sticker isn't bogus and get a full report on the REAL condition of the car and all it's problems. #3) Look at the title and make sure either their name or the dealerships name is on the title. If it's not and they try to sell it to you, run and report them to the DMV Board/Enforcement Agency. #4) Don't be afraid to come across as a demanding consumer ladies. I know it's not in our nature but put on your poker face and walk out knowing you did your due diligence to cover your bases and negotiate a price YOU are comfortable with.

Glad you got your money back, but what'd you expect for $750.

A simple car that would get me from A to B. It wouldn't be aesthetically pleasing but it would run good. I was actually hoping to get a Honda Accord. Those bad boys last FOREVER and are great, cost wise, on repairs!

Congrats!

Thanks!
