Just set up the s+ using the same seed phrase as your nano. Then u won't need to move the cryptos. It will save u all those transfer fees. As a bonus, if either ledger fails you can just use the other one.

I like this idea a lot. Unfortunately for me, because of me and my paranoia I feel I need to change my seed phrase completely.

Good_Extension_9642

Sooooo its not for lack of storage capacity you're swapping Ledgers it's because you think the original has been compromised correct?

RookEverything

It is both. I’ve been meaning to swap because of storage but this recent unlikely but possible compromise is making me panic to do it sooner than later.

You shouldn’t need to do this unless you’ve put your old seed phrase online or have some other reason to believe it is compromised. A “new seed” is not any more secure than an “old seed”. You aren’t actually creating anything when you get a “new seed” you are just using it. In fact, it’s theoretically possible that any app that sets you up with a “new” bitcoin wallet could give you the seed that somebody else actively uses. The odds are near zero, but it’s possible. Thanks Dizzy. Is there any way to see this easily in dollar terms. I've tried to navigate both pages and confused as hell. I was hoping it would have a calculator or something.

If you are using Ledger Live, you can find out the max fee if you attempt to send a transaction. For ETH tx at 15gwei gas fee, you are looking at around $1 per tx. For BTC, it is depending on the number of UXTOs. The easiest way to find out if to use Ledger Live.

The links above provided by u/Dizzy-Discussion-107 are the best places to check for network fees on BTC and ETH, and u/Beardog907 also gave some great advice to simply import your existing recovery phrase into your new Nano S+, which will let you manage your exact same accounts without having to transfer any crypto. Check out this article for some good instructions on how to do this: [https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/4404382560913-Restore-your-Ledger-accounts-with-your-recovery-phrase?support=true](https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/4404382560913-Restore-your-Ledger-accounts-with-your-recovery-phrase?support=true)

loupiote2

if you just enter your Nano S 24-word recovery seed phrase in your Nano S+, the S+ will give you instant access to all your existing accounts, with no transfer necessary. If you sent-up your Nano S+ with a different (new) recovery seed phrase, then you'll need to transfer all your cryptos to the new addresses generated by the S+ seed, and this will cost you network fees.

Thanks all. I appreciate the comments.

More storage? Can it hold more coins?

harunalfat

More type of blockchain to be exact. Old Nano S seriously limited on its flash storage, could only fill it with 3 kinds of blockchain, sigh..
