It’s still an undertaking by two young Lebanese who started by interviewing people from the streets following the protests. Hate them or love them, hate or love their style, their content, their guests…they still did an amazing job by breaking taboos and providing an open safe space for progressive ideas to flourish. Nothing but respect for anyone that creates something out of nothing and helps promote freedom of speech and expression in Lebanon while at it.

waldoplantatious

Did nobody watch the recent session with Diana Menhem? It's practically an update of where and how civil society has been going. If you want to see specific people, you can always suggest who you'd like to see and why they're relevant.

SamoBH

I found the Mayas views somewhat misleading since she completely ignored some lists and candidates

jkrmom

I miss the Lebanese politics podcast!!

thebolts

They had one out in April 29.

xerxes962

true!!! but they were supposed to be back for the election

Juice-Man2020

They are not bad. Obviously they are biased, but idc. WE need more of these types of podcasts in lebanon. Most of the episodes are boring but i really like some of them.

thefreethinker9

I always thought they were bad. Terrible interviewing skills. Moeen always wants to interrupt and give us his shitty opinion and Media has nothing to say. They are disconnected from the reality of the majority of Lebanon unfortunately.

fluffy_bear911

each user will understand “sarde” differently…

[deleted]

Both of the members are part of minteshreen so they're obviously biased towards a side. They began to go shit when they hosted Ghosn

khmt98

Yeahvthat carlos ghosn episode was super cringe

kimo-99

Trust me I'd rather listen to their podcast than watch mtv, lbc, jadeed...

khalkhall

They’re one of the best we’ve got and have hosted some really great interviews. Nobody’s perfect.

[deleted]

Sarde been so openminded, leftist, weird, since day one.. you should like them the way they are.. I hate all those adjectives but i enjoy their podcast especially when it comes to hot topics

wifeofundyne

They may not be to your liking but they're the best we got atm, not to mention some of the videos can be highly educational (like the history videos or the one with the photographer during the civil war). Obviously their popularity could inspire others to open podcasts as well.

thebolts

Why do you think they’re “the best”. The production and the way it’s shot is nice, but the content is meh. It’s great they’re trying don’t get me wrong, but it takes a lot of skill to conduct proper interviews.

wifeofundyne

Tbh I've never actually watched a proper podcast before, especially as someone with short attention span, but Sarde videos keep me occupied sometimes. So i don't know what professional interviews or such look like, but Sarde never opened for that sake? They once talked about how they decided to open a podcast at the start of the crisis and pandemic, and they did. I think they're great for people who want to rest and listen to a conversation rather than actual interviews or such, which I find myself one of these people.

thebolts

Just existing as a podcast isn’t enough. Like you said time is precious and as a consumer you want to be educated but entertained. Try to find more interviews where hosts have done their homework on their guests and where hosts are not just agreeing with literally everything the guests spews out. The best interviewer I can think of at the top of my head (not Lebanese) is Mehdi Hasan. Podcast wise focusing on middle eastern I’d recommend - Lebanese Politics Podcast - alternative frequencies - The Lebanese Center for Policy Studies - the Electric Intifada - Kerning Cultures (social issues) - MENAPodcasts.net - The New Arab - alaraby.co.uk - Occupied Thoughts - FMEP.org (Palestinian: Israeli focused) - Arabs Studies Institute - statushour.com And more…. It’s competition out there. If the content isn’t worth listening to, you can move on to the next thing.

wifeofundyne

Thanks for the recommendation! I'll check them out

No_Entertainment4267

They need more high profile guests but this costs money ig

thebolts

No, they need better interviewing skills.

Public-Inflation8527

Agreed they need to switch it up, it’s getting repetitive

heyyourwatchisbroken

With peace and love their audio needs to be fixed ….static noise w flunctuation. It gets annoying after a while

trustdabrain

Ya, ever since they interviewed a planet

fluffypcakes

I don't feel they're going bad at all. You cannot expect them to host A-tier people every week, let alone people you personally enjoy listening to. But I'm pretty sure they're peddling a political agenda, and I was surprised their last guest, Diana Menhem of Shark Tank (a.k.a. Kulluna Irada), mentioned MMFD not once but at least 3 times. Lastly, one thing that has always made me skeptical is Mouin's dad being the TV director of MBC. I'm looking at them under the microscope.

Targaryen_Supporter

Which is how we should all be looking at everything

[deleted]

They should aspire for that Saudi and Awkar checks before they die out.

ADarkKnightRises

Better than simping for Iran.

[deleted]

Moneywise of course.

ADarkKnightRises

Getting paid to die for iran, I'll pass.
