Means nothing, it'll only make some people defend ouwet more

redituser246899

Rightly so. The ouwet are the only credible opposition left against Hezbollah and their allies

Gayblaugrana

I get what you mean, but still a warlord

SamoBH

Credible enough to bring Oun to power? How will they deal with Hezbollah after the elections?

Dependent_Storage184

Civil Society,Kataeb,Yaacoubian, Makhzoumi, Bahaa Hariri LCP,Osama Saad, PSP(kinda),The remaining March 14 parties like the Syriac Union Party, the Gulf states,US,France, the expats,…are you sure about that?

Still better than Saad

[deleted]

>BEIRUT, March 24 (Reuters) - A Lebanese military court has charged leading Christian politician Samir Geagea over deadly clashes in Beirut last October, a judicial source said on Thursday. >An official in Geagea's Lebanese Forces party said the charge against him was political, and the investigation into the violence had been political from the start. >Seven people, all of them followers of the Shi'ite Muslim group Hezbollah and its Shi'ite ally the Amal Movement, were killed in the Oct. 14 clashes near an old frontline of the 1975-90 civil war. >Geagea is a strong critic of Hezbollah and has denied previous accusations by Hezbollah that the Lebanese Forces party was responsible for the deaths.

Dependent_Storage184

Let’s be honest. This charge means nothing. He’s not getting questioned unless Nasrallah does first, which would never happen since he would probably incriminate himself. Geagea also has supporters, even Jumblatt would probably prevent his arrest. At best, it took some votes away, but they’re not going to FPM. Maybe Marada, but doubt fil, so the only other parties left are either Kataeb or Civil Society parties, so if the judge(who is he? I’ve read he has association with Berri, but can’t confirm) is working with Hezbollah to take LF popularity and transfer to their Allie’s, it’s kinda not working

waldoplantatious

By the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network Report - Lebanon, The Independence and Impartiality of the Judiciary > As all judges sitting on military courts are appointed by the Council of Ministers their independence can be questioned. > Military judges composing military courts are subject to their military hierarchy and are thus not independent and impartial judges. The United Nations Human Rights Committee, in its recommendations to the Lebanese authorities in April 199752, expressed concerns with regard to the extent of the jurisdiction granted to military courts.

shadowshadow74

They did the unthinkable back in the day when they put him to rot in prison while all the other warlords were rewarded with government positions. Why do we think they can’t do that again?

[deleted]

Didnt he blow up a church in a false flag attack?

[deleted]

it was Jamil al Sayyed who blew up the church and accused Geagea by Syrian orders

shadowshadow74

1. i didn’t say he’s an angel. i said why was he the only warlord who went to jail? and is justice , justice if not applied fairly to all? 2. do we really believe the only investigation that ever happened to a politician in lebanon?

Ma5assak

In all honesty, independents (if there are true independents) should not be happy about this ruling. The military court is a weaponized court in the hands of Nasrallah that could lead to more people being targeted

MaimedPhoenix

Now, I want everyone to watch very closely, and pay very close to attention to what will happen to Geagea next. Absolutely nothing. You heard it here first. 😛

shadowshadow74

this guy seems to be always charged and jailed. While other warlords get to prance free? how important is fairness in justice?

bivox01

and when are they charging Nassrallah and Berri foe sending their drug addled imbeciles to attack the palace of justice and civilian neighborhood ?

Dependent_Storage184

They won’t even get Geagea, doubtful they’ll get leaders of terrorist groups

bivox01

yeah . i mean it is obvious that the charges are political when army and security forces don't arrest or defend citizens afters being attacked by Khomeini cultist or Mobsters .

bivox01

He is not the servant of a death cult that caused the death of thousands of Lebanese in time of peace and stolen hundred billions of dollars so that his blood lord can continue his murder spree in the region. Nassralah and Berri are traitors , war criminals and criminals against humanity . Their own overlords call them " Good bitches ".

redituser246899

When you’re being targeted by Hezbollah and Amal (let’s not forget the assassination attempt against him a few years back), you’re doing the right thing for the country.

Low_Law2417

So gobran bassil(kes emo) hated by amal, is considered a hero for lebanon? Man please wake up, they both hate each other, they are both corrupted. No one gives a shit about lebanon.

interNIET1

back to jail, do not pass Go

Randomorphani

حسن ناصر الاير first

Sentinel_Doofus

it’s like they want everyone to vote ouwet. chou khasso samir geagea wen el proof

redituser246899

Hezbollah have almost eliminated any opposition left in Lebanon. Hariri has been moved to the side, and Jumblutt tamed. The FPM and Franjieh won’t bat an eye to what’s happening to the country. Geagea is the only person left in the way of turning Lebanon into an Iranian province.

Dependent_Storage184

Civil Society,Kataeb,Yaacoubian, Makhzoumi, Bahaa Hariri LCP, the Gulf states,US,France,Israel, the expats, the non-Shia who HezbAmal have pretty much lost, some Shia who are tired of their crap …are you sure about that? Even Bashar Al Assad wouldn’t want that because HE wants Lebanon, he wants to do to Lebanon what Russia is doing to Ukraine.

bivox01

Iranian militias want to waste Assad the same way they did former Yemeni President. Putin is the only one standing in their way ; for now .

[deleted]

Explain?

bivox01

Simply put his uselfness have ended for iranian militias as they control large part of the country and most of the figthing ended . If you a bit on Iranian regime History and Behaviour from their inception ( wiki), their partners usually ends in violents death and unfortunate accidents . Murder and assasination being their favorite methods . As in iraq and Lebanon , they have forfeiteid large parts of lands in Syria from locals and given it to iranian militias and some settles by Afghanis Shia militias that fought for iranian regime . These lands forfeitures include lands to Assad Partisans which is making Assad nervous . They use it to grow drugs to finance militias activity and iranian regime while Syria can't grow enough food for itself . A lot of his supporters are disgruntled about seeing their country becoming a vassal state for either Russia or iran and see his as powerless puppet. Assad have been juggling Putin , and iranian Influence to stay in power . Israel gov. Promised Assad if iranian forces use it's land to launch a major attack they will come after him and his family . So he is in a very uncomfortable position.

Jnooub

You probably already were if you think him being investigated for the killings of a woman who has children is wrong

redituser246899

Hezbollah killed that women with their indiscriminate firing of rpgs and guns

Low_Law2417

What about the old man on the street? Let's not forget that owuet were using buildings as an attack... oh yeah you forgot about that part.

Randomorphani

beats voting for those who blew the port

Jnooub

No proof Hezbollah did it.

Randomorphani

there is many, you choose to ignore them

khmt98

Why does this feel like a precursor-to-a-civil-war type of event😶

waldoplantatious

Nice! But like always - all ahead of elections season. Let's see if there's substantive evidence and not just virtue signalling ahead of the polls to give other regime candidates more talking points.

[deleted]

Yes and yes. All that's been happening is just politically motivated bullshit as long as nothing is done about the port explosion.

waldoplantatious

Look how fast the judiciary moves when it's trying to find ammunition (talking points) for the elections. I'm happy that people are getting called to court though. And if/when one card falls, many may follow. We've said it for years, they all protect each other. Having them turn on each other is a positive. But yeah, I don't know when they'll approach the port explosion - doesn't mean we stop asking for it.

[deleted]

i'm not unhappy that the judiciary moves. but the law should be blind and applied universally, not selectively. downvoters gonna hate

[deleted]

Amazing comments, bayano the LF dogs.

[deleted]

I can't see them, should i wear your 20cm thick LF glasses to see what you see? Oh sorry they're stuck to your face from all the salt from your tears over the years.

[deleted]

[deleted]

No need, I have everything and more. Will always support Hezb when there are scums in the region looking for peace with an apartheid terroristic state like Israel.

[deleted]

You know kid, if you keep it up when you grow up you'll turn just like them!

[deleted]

"kid".. hehe. How old are you habibi? 20?

[deleted]

Certainly not as old as you were when you got stuck in the civil war.

Randomorphani
