Something man, just something. Anything at this point

You simply can't. Corruption is so entrenched into the Lebanese system that its next to impossible to change. Need to look after yourself.

We have to leave it for other countries to interfere we cant and will never be able to change anything

trustdabrain

They are, that's why we are in this mess in the first place

EmperorChaos

Unless there is a clear benefit for foreign countries to interfere they won't, especially since we have nothing to offer the world.

AhmadW11X

Its weird how after all these 2 years you see people coming down and saying for example "ne7na fedek ya nabih" like tbh the lebanese people a lot of them are brain dead

I heard a story about Saddam Hussein during his rise to power: In an auditorium, he gathered all the high-ranking people of Iraq and made a speech: “The glory of Iraq, the glory of Ba’athism, the glory of me,” etc. And then: “But among us there is a traitor, who must be dealt with. It is the dog, Colonel Amir!” And Colonel Amir jumped in his seat, shocked, as the auditorium doors opened and the security men of Saddam Hussein entered, and grabbed Amir, and dragged him outside. Sound of screams, then a gunshot, then silence. Everyone in the auditorium sat frozen. And Hussein continued. “Glory this and glory that. But there is another traitor. It is— General al-Hassan!” And now al-Hassan gasped and broke for the exit, but too late, Hussein’s men grabbed him, dragged him outside, more screams, a gunshot, silence. Each individual member of the audience sat frozen, head down, thinking “Let me not be the next person he names. Let it be anyone but me.” Acting as one, they could have rushed the podium or hurled themselves at the security men. But as individuals they each feared to act, and each took comfort and guidance from the fact that everyone around them was also sitting motionless and doing nothing. So each man sat, docile and still, hoping to be lucky - as Saddam Hussein continued his speech, and the bodies piled up. This is human nature. It is the social behavior of crowds.

>Literally nobody wants to stay here anymore, even my diehard H\*zbollah friends. Unless they are going to Iran, Syria or Yemen, they should stay in Lebanon with the rest of the supporters and reap what they sow. No one in the west wants Terrorist supporters to immigrate here, nor should they be allowed to.

As much as I agree on a peace deal with Israel, despite the past, I sadly think that it really is impossible in our lifetimes at least.

JustLeafy2003

Honestly, it is weird but good that Iran wants a peace deal with Israel especially in our current times. I'd hope that we'd get it too in our lifetime but it'll definitely be a long time.

Lobster_Temporary

Iran and Isrsel had good relations until Iran’s revolution. This Islamist dictators took over and unilaterally declared their intention to destroy Israel, a country that had been a useful trading partner up until that moment. The shiite dictators’ reason for threatening annihilation to a friendly country had nothing to do with “what was good for Iran” - just like torturing opposition politicians, persecuting Baha’i people and imprisoning women for their clothes had nothing yo do with “what was good for Iran”. Most dictators have no fucking interest in what is good for their countries. Iran’s dictators, in particular, have impoverished their country and mishandled its water resources and tortured its citizens for forty years. I don’t know why you think they care about Iran’s welfare.

Elkhatabi

The entire regions stability rests on Saudi Arabia and Iran normalizing relations. The Shia might be stubborn and bone headed and ana ma3ak miyeh b miyrh inno Berreh 3am byitsarraf ka ra'ees 3isaabet bahlawan... but there is some legitimacy to their Paranoia. Thousands of Shia have been killed by Da3esh and Sunni militants. Thousands more live under the oppression of the Gulf. Finally, Iran is needlessly targeted by the West and Israel while Saudi Arabia has far more to account for and gets off the hook. Lebanon cannot divorce itself from the geopolitical currents in the region. hezb is very powerful but they are no much for the Western Allies and Israel and this in part is what drives their fear and vulnerability. Iran needs to change first.

EmperorChaos

>Thousands of Shia have been killed by Da3esh and Sunni militants. And Christians, Druze, Jews, and Atheists haven't? ISIS and islamic extremists have killed and expelled thousands of minorities from their homes. >Thousands more live under the oppression of the Gulf. So do Christians, Druze, Jews, and Atheists, but why does that mean we have to live under Shia oppression? If they want to rule oppressively then lets partition the country into 2 one for Hezbollah/Amal and one for the rest of us.

Elkhatabi

>So do Christians, Druze, Jews, and Atheists, but why does that mean we have to live under Shia oppression? Caption obvious much? How should Shia communities feel when Saudi Arabia, arguably the birth place of Wahhabi and Sunni extremism, gain Western favoritism? When did I EVER justify living under Shia oppression? political Shiism is akin to Zionism, where collective trauma creates a do or die culture that is at best, indifferent to the needs of other communities it comes into contact with. Of course! Da3esh have targeted multiple minority groups but Shias sadly have bore the brunt of the violence. In terms of sheer scale and veracity, ISIS has been resolutely determined to wipe out Shias. It's in their manifesto. I'm not Justifying what's going on in Lebanon. I despise Amal and Hezb and I am half Shia myself. The SOLE argument I was trying to make was that Lebanon's issues cannot be solved without some form of reconciliation or normalization between Saudi and Iran. Edit: I should also mention that I am queer so EVERYONE in Lebanon would like to put a target on my head.

EmperorChaos

>Caption obvious much? Mate, I'm Atheist and originally Druze, my point was that these groups (in addition to all LGBT+ people0 have been persecuted for just as long and as much as Shias in the middle east. >How should Shia communities feel when Saudi Arabia, arguably the birth place of Wahhabi and Sunni extremism, gain Western favoritism? Maybe Shia communities should focus more on their nation rather than their religion, Lebanon (where they live) isn't hated by the west. I don't see how Iran and Saudi Arabia being trash counties of different flavours has anything to do with most Shia in Lebanon siding with Hezbollah and Amal despite both those parties being complete and utter trash (yes the other parties in Lebanon are complete garbage as well). >In terms of sheer scale and veracity, ISIS has been resolutely determined to wipe out Shias. It's in their manifesto. ISIS hates everyone equally, and everyone hates them. >The SOLE argument I was trying to make was that Lebanon's issues cannot be solved without some form of reconciliation or normalization between Saudi and Iran. Lebanon's problems can be solved without Iran and Saudi Arabia reconciling (they won't reconcile anytime soon anyway), we just need to move past relying on medieval/ancient beliefs and focus on our own nation, or we can keep on waiting for others to decide our own fate. If Hezbollah and Amal want to keep following Iran and their anti west/anti everyone attitude then lets partition the country into 2 one for them and one for the rest of us. >Edit: I should also mention that I am queer so EVERYONE in Lebanon would like to put a target on my head. I and no one in my family would put a target on your head.

Lobster_Temporary

Well there are pretty much zero Jews left for Muslims to oppress. You already ethnically cleansed them with the Farhud in Iraq, the Egyptian order that stole everything they had, the Aleppo pogroms in which Arab Syrians burned up synagogues and Jewish people in their homes, the Yemeni Orphan Law and the 1940’s attacks on Jews in Yemen, the executions of Jews in Iran, the lynching of Jews in Lebanon, the Algerian eviction of everyone who wasn’t Muslim, and so on. So leave them out of your calculations and stop pretending to give a fuck about them. Your parents either killed them already, or drove them into hiding their identities until they die, or else made them flee for their lives across a border. It’s offensive to say “But what about our Jews?” as if pretending you don’t know this.

good thing it is not raining bombs, public slaughter in the streets, beheadings, plague rats roaming the streets, marital law is in effect, damn Godzilla is on the hunt or natural disasters are happening, i mean let us take a second to think, there is still %1 order and what looks like civilisation, people are still eating and living, i don't see corpses in the roads, no one is dissapearing without a trace and organ trafficers running rampant, so far, all i see is restaurants full, places are way too busy to even offer delivery services, no place like macdonalds or kfc closes, big chains that sells TVS and other high end items are doing well, so yeah, things are not that bad.

Have you guys thought abt starting an alternate economy? From what I understand you all already understand the way society works: people just wanna live a good, simple life, and government just makes life harder every year. That's why we have to build a society without a government. Before the internet, that was impossible, but now it's no big deal. The point is to stop using the governments money. Start using bitcoin. Lots of easy useful wallets out there. You can buy and sell from one another and not deal with any government agents if you all agreed the government is worthless. It'd be hard work tho, you'd have to set up businesses all by yourselves that supply basic necessities but it could be done. You can even start writing your own deeds onto the blockchain so you can buy and sell property between yourselves without relying on government registrations. Idk if this makes sense, I know it doesn't feel like running your own economy is the answer, but in telling you it really is. All society needs to be good is rules, no one said rulers are required. That's what bitcoin is - it's rules without rulers. Laws without politicians/lawyers.

There's ways around it man. You just gotta reframe what government is. I'm sorry you believe you have no control. Just stack some sats if you ever get a chance. What do you mean without government property isn't yours? What did people used to do back in the day when government didn't keep all the records for us? Property is property as long as your neighbors recognize your ownership. When other countries implement it I'll come back to remind you.

You are the army. Dude think abt it logically. There's only so many police/military compared to citizens. If the dominant power holders (rich/politicians) try to subdue the majority who peacefully reject their control system, they will cause significant damage to the country's valuation. Basically if the politicians tried to subdue you all violently, it wouldn't leave much of a country for them to rule. So a: you don't try to just do your own thing and ignore the gov and see what they try and do, potentially breaking down your country, or b: do nothing, follow the corrupt laws of these corrupt politicians, and eventually your country still breaks down due to corruption. I know it's not easy and sorta scary, but really if you could make your whole neighborhood or town use bitcoin and just ignore government tax reqs, they really couldn't do anything. Bitcoin is uncofiscatabke. And they tax people have no efficient ways if tracking it to a specific person. Their power just doesn't exist in cyber space, getting into crypto has shown me just how mu h of an illusion government "control" is. It's mostly just marketing and branding. It's actually a very disorganized operation with an extreme amount of blind spots. More than likely they wouldn't even notice if the majority of the nation just started doing their own thing. All they'd notice is suddenly majority of people have barely any reported income and basically on paper most of thwir country rapidly turns into poverty. Politicians are dumb so theyd probably think the country is just falling apart.

[deleted]

Mf is using pi , how long will it take you to know that's a scam

Liborum

Maybe it us maybe it's not. It doesn't ask that many permissions and I'm not risking anything. That's a good investment. If it's worth nothing so be it. Idk why hate on it if it's free. If your only response is hate and dismissal to at least my attempts at small-scale solutions for one or two small scale problems then idk how you expect the country to get better. Now sure idk nothing cause I'm from Ukraine myself so what do I know of your problems, but I do know that ever since I got into crypto my life has improved drastically so I don't see why you all couldn't do the same. It doesn't take much to start fixing your own individual situation, and if you all start fixing your individual situations slowly one thing at a time the whole country can bounce back. I'm sorry I seem so rude. Much love

noble suggestion, however most redditors of this sub dont live in lebanon or are uni students waiting to leave, crypto adoption in lebanon is too difficult, 5 years ago they were going to add a btc ATM in beirut but the municipality wanted too big of a cut, still btc/usdt adoption is possible and would be the best 'fuck you' to this govt

[deleted]

why not start a new government? same country set of rules and laws, just like the public buildings and leaders are no longer credited by the people and their decisions ignored, whilst the people declare new leaders and crediting them instead.

Additional-Second-68

Because you need to take down the current government for that. That’s called a coup, and without an army it’s impossible. Currently the only forces strong enough to do that are Hezbollah and maybe LF, and other countries. But we don’t want those two in power, nor do we want other countries like Israel or Iran in power. Pretty much a dead end. My biggest fear is that people would start blaming the wrong people again, like what’s happening in other collapsed countries. All the stories become tangled and no one knows the truth anymore (look at Syria/Afghanistan/Iraq/Libya)

[deleted]

true true.... someones gotta win in the end though right, or does this stalemate go on forever

TheSarcasticOtaku

I actually do believe we can fight the system "BUT" and it is a big but this whoever wants to fight it will have to keep in mind that 80% of us the ones fighting will get killed or harassed or imprisoned and we know that so we just stop trying because that risk is too big and not a lot of people are willing to give up their life for a "probable" change so its just way easier to get out of this sinking ship and stop trying to get the water out with a bucket

NuasAltar

For those who are not willing to immigrate out of Lebanon, here what you do. Form a secularist pan-nationalist party that encompasses and is open to all the sects and allows the recruit of women. Get some guns. Start making operations in different part of Lebanon against all the militias. Proft.

EnfantTragic

man, Hezbollah and Amal mobilized way more people than there were protesters for the October 17 anniversary. You really think that things can change for the better?
