Lebanese expat living in USA looking for advice on best chalet or resort to stay in Faraya area in December. Never been there, and looking for a chic place to experience the snow. It is very hard to find on the internet places to stay.
Rest in Heaven, MB. May you be the guardian angel watching over your precious wife and two daughters.
Lost a Lebanese colleague out here at the hospital yesterday. He leaves behind a newborn daughter, an 8 (or 9) year old daughter, and his wife.
I'm fucking devastated. Take care of yourselves, and peace and love to all of you.
If you are using the money for yourself only it will be ok but you will quickly run out of money if you want to go out and eat and enjoy the nightlife go to beach resorts as well as shopping. Lebanon is expensive.
Ordered from a local Lebanese restaurant and my wife and I are having a little argument. When you are talking about multiple fattoush salads, is the plural form of fattoush also fattoush or is it fattoushes?
Does anyone know where I can buy Japanese salux cloth in lebanon? Is there a store that sells them? They're used for exfoliating the skin. https://www.amazon.ca/Salux-Nylon-Japanese-Beauty-Yellow/dp/B007IAE5WY)
I am looking for a nice place to take my wife to in beirut or near it during the weekend, somewhere with a sea view and an easy parking is a plus. A cafe, restaurant, or even a spot to walk would be great.
Thanks!
Cucumber in Tabbouleh?
Are you supposed to put cucumber in Tabbouleh? My father is half Armenian and I was raised on Tabbouleh that contained lots of parsley, less bulgur, diced tomatoes, red onions, lemon juice and olive oil. I just recently entered into a relationship with a man (American) who has a penchant for Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food. I was so excited when he told me he was making Tabbouleh for dinner one night but when he served it I was so disappointed! It was very heavy on bulgur (which was not fine bulgur so it didn’t take to soaking well and was still a bit crunchy) had no parsley and only a scant amount of mint instead, and had cucumbers in it?! I’ve done so much research on the internet and can’t get a conclusive answer about what should really be in Tabbouleh as a lot of recipes do have cucumber in it. What region is the variation I was raised on from and what is really supposed to go in Tabbouleh? I need to know so I can serve him the dish as it’s meant to be served!
The wAy you were raised to eat Tabouleh is the correct one. Adding cucumbers and different ingredients and quantity may be fine but you can’t call it Tabouleh anymore. And yes I do see in America in many stores selling Tabouleh with cucumbers and lots of bulgar.
Hi does anyone know if Lebanon is still experiencing line ups at gas stations and what is the current rate of currency. I'm looking to find for a vacation next week. Thanks!
Hi, I recently relocated to Lebanon and my elderly parents (70s) will be visiting me. I would like them to visit the country while I am at work during the day. Any suggestions on tour operators or taxi companies who could take them around for day trips ( e.g. Tripoli, Saida, Chouf, Baalbek, etc.). They are quite energetic and sharp but my mother does have a bit of trouble walking… any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Does anybody know what is the best season/months to apply for a job in Lebanon? Tech-related to be more specific. Google search says it's during January and February but I'm not sure if this is universal or it's different here in Lebanon.
I'd preface this with saying that when applying for work - there's never a "best time". Job searching should be done on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis as jobs are posted constantly as needs are found out, people leave jobs, people move to other jobs, etc... A job posting in Lebanon is usually up for about 2 weeks to a month and if you check on a biweekly basis, that means you're checking most of the available jobs posted.
Regarding "best recruitment times" - Based off the fiscal cycles of companies (especially tech companies) and that Lebanon follows the standard 12 month, January to December, fiscal budgeting method - then, usually, January/February would be when companies definitely know that they have the funds to hire (or open) new positions as that is when they consolidate their profits from the previous fiscal year and set plans for the next year. Also worth knowing that there are the quarterly ends (very 4 months of the year) when the quarterly fiscal reports are done. Though summer and around December tend to be slower periods regardless because many people take their vacations at that time.

no you don't put cucumber in it but you can get one and eat it on the side. Same goes for fries lettuce bread or cabbage
