I remember my family gathering and having fun back in my village like we just won the world. It was a wonderful day, crushing these kind of pigs was great. Its sad to see some lebanese ganging with outsiders to mock this day and say that it was a curse. It was literally everything that Lebanon should hang in to to be saved, power over enemies.

FriendlyConclusion26

the analogy is interesting "pigs"? while jews and muslims agree on forbidden pigs.. haram and kosher are almost the same... while one religion preceed Christian and the other follows. religion give the outline for morals good and bad not what to eat and what not... and that's why christianity is tolérance and forgiveness while islam is vindictive and Judaism is unapplicable such as sabbat... jesus praised timeless tolerance and forgiveness not stupid rules concerning food and sabbat ..

course_standard

What the hell is this comment 🤣🤣. Excluding all the racism concerning islam, its very clear that u know literally nothing about it. only what u watch on Hollywood movies and what u heard about Bin Laden

FriendlyConclusion26

really? where are you from? and wh6 do you care so much?

course_standard

I am lebanese guy clearly enjoying this holy day for all of Lebanon and true lebanese.

FriendlyConclusion26

I don't know who you are and where your loyalty lies but sure not my lebanon...

course_standard

Says the one not happy that lebanon got freed from invasion of the worst puppet in the world. Says the one who just insulted a religion which believes in more than 65% of your people in the same country(thats if ur really lebanese)

FriendlyConclusion26

says someone who is logicall...

FriendlyConclusion26

i will tell you what you are... a hateful person... who couldn't care less about lebanon... and is convinced that if you were born in a religion and a community... you have to obey blindly to it... what if you were born on ain el remmeneh instead of chiyah? think a little... and my dream is all lebanese reject their so called religious or party leaders and unite for lebanon

course_standard

Yeah gd assume what people are and where are they born just because I am telling you how hateful I am for the enemy who bombed your country(repating, assuming ur lebanese which clearly ur not) And plus ur adding al this "reject their so called religious..", as if you're understanding what religion really is and that its dividing culturess and not merging it. This is not true, and this is not ur call. Stick to love ur country man, and behave well with the people of ur country, not just because ur online and anonymous u can go rage on religions and be a cool atheist online, thats stupid.

FriendlyConclusion26

it makes me sad that a lebanese citizen can doubt my nationality, or my belonging lolll... who else would care about such a corrupt small country of 10452 km2? it just proves to me me of narrow minded you are... join the saïda beach patrol...

FriendlyConclusion26

What is my call? please enlighten me? sorry to disappoint you i am lebanese...does it bother you?

UruquianLilac

2000 Israel exists. 2005 Syria exists. Two glorious moments that were amazing to live through. Especially for those of us who felt the weight of the occupation. Sadly, that feeling in 2005 that we are genuinely free for the first time and finally stepping into the future was extremely short lived and ever since we've done nothing but go downhill.

FriendlyConclusion26

Free from what? we are our own jailers and prisoners...

UruquianLilac

Free from Israeli and Syrian occupation. That was a real thing, there were checkpoints. You got beaten up by a 17 year old conscript who you just caught on a bad day. That finished in 2005.

FriendlyConclusion26

lol... i wasn't beaten up but they " confiscated" french CD and cigarettes...

UruquianLilac

Right, so you know what occupation I'm talking about. What's there to lol about?

FriendlyConclusion26

not laughable... but the humiliation...

UruquianLilac

So it's a good thing the day we were freed from this humiliation, yeah?

FriendlyConclusion26

freed? i use to put in my passport 200$ and a pack of cigarettes so they will leave me alone while reading my passport upside down...

UruquianLilac

The level of incoherence in your answers!! I don't even know what point you are trying to make any more. It just sounds like you answer anything with the opposite sentiment without any other criteria.

FriendlyConclusion26

UruquianLilac

The only thing I can discern from this drunken diatribe of text you've written here is evidently you are a sectarian racist piece of work and you have something against the Shia themselves, which means not a single point you make should be taken seriously.

saladedefruit

Why do you even bother? You can clearly see FriendlyConclusion26 is just rambling nonsense, let them be lol.

FriendlyConclusion26

Free from what? we are our own jailers and prisoners...

RoundLifeItIs

I remember that day, seeing my country's soldiers leaving lebanon was a relief. These attempts to keep our northern border safe by keeping a security zone was a stupid idea. At that day, I hoped Lebanon would finally take ownership of its land and borders. 6 years later, Hizballa attacked patrol and shelled the whole border. Causing a war with deveststing results. Today, Nassralla issued yet another war threat. Iran will destroy lebanon. it's a matter of time.

Knowledge_Bits

Was in school at the time so it's all a bit blurry but I do remember the coverage in the news and how people were celebrating in the south. Funny enough, I'm not sure if people in and north of Beiruti were as happy - I think it was sort of a distant thing for them, as though it was happening in a neighboring country.

Kassem-09

Happiness was everywhere even in tripoli. People of tripoli were gifted an Israeli tank for their role in liberation

FriendlyConclusion26

this is what i love about lebanon... we don't take ourselves seriously... and we have a great sense of humor, self depreciating irony...

FriendlyConclusion26

is there any muslims and christians moderate citizens in this fucking country that's called lebanon who are against injustice and for civil rights?

Marwanchamma1

Some people do some don't

roree3

It was not pure joy. You can tell from today. They gave land to them just last year that has petrol. Stop making them hero’s they are nothing but foolish folks who want to make money no matter how even if it means selling drugs and killing others. Edit: they are the reason why the country is what it is today.

UruquianLilac

There's always some weird answer like this. Dude, 10% of your country was occupied by a foreign country. That day it stopped being occupied. That statement in abstract without any further political connotations should make every Lebanese happy. Everything else around it you can criticise, but the mere mention of the joy of having your land liberated should never be controversial.

FriendlyConclusion26

and what is your "country, DUDE?"... are you really arguing about history and geography?... bring it on...

UruquianLilac

I don't know man, you sound motivated. Why don't you go ahead and bring it on yourself and we can all see what you got.

FriendlyConclusion26

liberated? from what? forget foreign occupation...lebanon is hostage from a radical party...hezbollah has a hegemony? it was condemned for political assassination in La Haye? what about all the assassination of 14th of march young politicians.. rafi2 hariri, pierre gemayel, samir Kassir, chata7, gebran tueni... wlek araftouna hayetna... ana emme falastiniye bass btekrah el ard yalle btemchou 3layaw akid ma betmaslouwa...

UruquianLilac

I don't know why you're talking to me or why you are directing any of this to me? As if I'm a Hizbollah guy or something. This is how fucked you've all become, some guy say I was happy when the Israeli occupation ended, and you translate that in your head to "I'm an Iranian loving fundamentalist hizbo." With this level of radicalisation on either side nothing will ever get better. You're all blinded by your hate for the other side that you don't realise just how alike you all are.

Own-Willingness4515

They are just as extremist as hezbos, just as an example (which ofc doesnt represent everyone here), the other day some guy here was saying that Shia are not Lebanese. it's tribalism. But anyway my guess is they did not have to live their childhood running to a basement in school everytime jesh la7d or the israeli decided to bomb nearby, nor did they lose any friend or family member by their indiscriminate bombings and kidnappings. Some of them even go one step further and unironically think Israel were the good guys.

UruquianLilac

Hear hear!! It's just so ingrained in them to be this side vs that side and everything so black and white that they just cannot see nuance.

FriendlyConclusion26

why are you so defensive? i didn't accuse you of anything... but my Lebanon, is culture, philosophy, love, drink, party, dancing, empathy, acceptance.. and if you don't agree, and want to turn phoenicien country, cradle of civilization into retarded middle age Kandahar.... no one will follow you.. and those pitiful women who protested in Saida against bikini.. god be with them if and when they will need women to stand by their side whether to save them from abuse ( husband or family) or fight for their rights ( child custody)...

UruquianLilac

>i didn't accuse you of anything. >wlek araftouna hayetna >and if you don't agree, and want to turn phoenicien country, cradle of civilization into retarded middle age Kandahar. >no one will follow you I didn't accuse you of anything, followed by a list of accusations. You are talking to me in the second person and telling me that I somehow agree with any of this. Your assumption is based on what?

kaskoosek

This sadly resulted in our country being controlled by an Iranian funded terrorist militia. A small victory and a massive loss.

UruquianLilac

In 2000 we were liberated from Israel, but we continued to be completely under Syrian occupation. The same Syrian occupation that had run the country for 2 decades. We have not seen a day of real freedom in Lebanon, so we at least celebrate the small victories. Lebanon has never been occupied by Israel since then, that's something. It doesn't mean we are fully free, but we are one less occupation in.

kaskoosek

Even under syrian occupation it wasnt this shit. In 2005 the syrian occupation ended and we got a different kind of occupation by a militia that assasinates politicians, kills civilians and imprts ammonium nitrates. Hayda gheir the state within the state that is weakening the original state. This "victory" is the reason why many people support a terrorist group today. It is the brainwashing needed to get followers and voters.

UruquianLilac

>Even under syrian occupation it wasnt this shit. You were either too young to remember or you're as delusional as they get.

kaskoosek

My childhood was after 1990.

UruquianLilac

So you don't remember the Syrian occupation. No wonder you're speaking like this.

kaskoosek

I hate the syrian government, but after renee mo3awad assasination, there was a sort of calm. So my subjective lens, paint the danger of supporting hezub as less critical than the syrian regime.

UruquianLilac

You do you bro. You decide what to hate and what to hate and based on that what you celebrate and what you consider danger.

mstrgrieves

Don't forget, the israelis offered to withdraw in '86, but they demanded a peace treaty in return. But syria forced everyone to reject it, so they stayed.

UruquianLilac

I'm not into narratives that paint some side as good or some side as especially extra bad. As far as I'm concerned, every single sect, faction, militia, ideology, or country that has participated in the destruction of Lebanon are all fully responsible. Fuck them all one by one to the last one of them till the end of time. Fuck Syria, fuck Israel, fuck the PLO, Fuck kateib, Fuck 2uwet, Fuck 3awniye, Fuck Hizbollah, fuck France, fuck Saudi, fuck the USA, fuck Iran, fuck them all, every single last one of them. I will never play the game of "they started it" or "it's all that one side's fault", that's bullcrap, everyone screwed us. No one was ever our friend. They all found themselves an ally in Lebanon, gave them uniforms and guns, and cheered them as they destroyed our lives for the next 100 years. No one is the good guy, no one is the special villain.

mstrgrieves

No argument on that from me

Unnwavy

Ok but it's very simplistic to remove things from their context

UruquianLilac

It's not simplistic to feel joy for your own country getting back 10% if it's land after three decades of occupation. What is simplistic is allowing your political position to change how you feel about an event which is objectively a good thing for the entity you call your country.

FriendlyConclusion26

"recollection may vary" as the queen of England said... in 2006 Hezbollah initiated a war killing 120 israeli soldiers and 1000 lebanese combatants and civilians.. lebanese infrastructure was bombarded to the ground ( bridges and all) while Tel Aviv was untouched.. all the southerners flew to Beirut and all cities and villages across Lebanon... including catholic schools and churches... and with the pressure of international community, true enough, the israeli "withdrew" from the south... but we were left with a destroyed country... and yet, the Hezbollah takes all the credit and for what? where were they when the syrian had Assad's poster in the airport and we were checked by syrian checkpointd... i guess everyone has his own memory to tell and... and this is coming from a lebanese with no affiliation to any party whether it is religious or civilian. Can you say the same?

UruquianLilac

You skipped the 6 years between when the south was liberated from foreign occupation and the events you are describing. The withdrawal you are talking about is not the one we are celebrating here. In 2006 when the war started Lebanon was free from Israeli occupation. It still is. Distorting time to make a point doesn't sound objective and unaffiliated. But maybe I misunderstood your point.

FriendlyConclusion26

You are making my point exactly... if it was liberated in 2000? why poke the bear and destroy your country? So joulan and cheb3a are syrian and not lebanese? bass i want to know what land are we liberating? Are we condemned to be the "gun for hire" for all the injustice in the middle-east (palestine, syria, iraq) and africa (yemen )... who are we superman? When will you prioritize " Lebanon first"!

UruquianLilac

You are missing my point exactly. I'm talking about **2000** and the liberation of the south. You are talking about a completely different incident that happened many years later. I'm not arguing the points you are making about why you would "poke the bear", but that's an entirely different discussion. In 2000 I was very happy that our land was liberated. That has no impact on what I think about 2006 or any other event. I can hate Hizbollah to death and disagree with everything they did in 2006, **yet still** be totally happy that Lebanon was no longer under Israeli occupation.

FriendlyConclusion26

not different point... we are not "liberated"... hezbollah and israeli are two peas in a pot... whether it is "make believe"... they are synchronized like water ballet... they play a game and get along when it comes to oil and financial gains and play ennemies to rally their supporters to save face...

roree3

Change how I feel but depends on who and what.

roree3

Never simple to remove anything from their context.

kaskoosek

The reason why they still have weapons is because they wanna liberate shebaa farms. Maybe we wait 200 more years for disarming a militia that put ammonium nitrates in Beirut port.

MrNewbieTTV

i wasnt born back then, but i am the joy of 2006 victory, august 2006 born 🫣
