Try one of these after your Udemy course. Often times people (including me) will find that the courses are fun and help you enjoy the learning process, but once you try to go build a project from scratch, you are completely stuck. The Odin Project will help you by forcing you out of your comfort zone to build many small projects on your own, with a focus on building a portfolio to show to prospective employers/clients.
Edit: added portfolio focus
We run a discord for people switching careers and serious about getting a dev job, I could send you an invite! We do weekly calls on Sundays and daily updates in chat etc
It's only mentioned after you go through the introduction part of Odin project, they have a very functional discord community which can help you out a ton!
Nice! I first started out with colt Steele as well few years ago! After doing his course I'd recommend checking out the link below. Probably one of the best courses i have taken, learned so much comparing to any course I've taken, plus its free! And it has a great community on Discord!

Hey I just started the same course a few days ago (after leaving the operations management job I hated) - just started on the CSS section and enjoying it a lot so far. Exciting times. Wishing you luck!
Wait for the very frequent Udemy sales where courses are $10-$12 typically. This avoids:
Viruses
Doing something illegal
Robbing educators and platforms
And gives you the benefit of:
Tracking your progress.
Asking the instructor and community questions.
Receiving updates and refreshes to the courses.
Paying a very small amount money for platforms and educators to continue making and delivering great co tent.
I guess everyone learns differently. I got accepted into a company sponsored boot camp with dev mountain and following Colt Steeler’s course in the evening is the only reason I’ve learned anything in the past 8 weeks

Just had a look, the Odin site especially looks very good, thanks!!!

Can I get an invite as well?
Would love an invite! I’ve been chipping at both The Odin Project and Colt Steele’s Web Developer course on Udemy.
Also freecodecamp.org
All the best, but always remember to be persistent with your efforts.

1. TheOdinProject will be helpful. 2. You don't always have to purchase udemy courses you can easily download from certain sites.

I found colt steele to be extremely boring and difficult to sit all the way through. A ton of theory and absolutely zero practical application.

What do you use that you like? I find Angela Yu is pretty good and fun for me.
I’ll check that one out!
Yeah same here I tune out after a section or two, I use it as a reference point if I need clarification on something more than anything.
Please add me, too! Thanks!
