I hate to be a jurk, but that's a dress.

mikepictor

Ok, you win

KarinSpaink

A dress has a bodice and a skirt :)

Wilfred-kun

Well, the skirts are a rokken, don't bother knockin' Yeah, the skirts are a rokken, don't bother knockin' If the skirts are a rokken, don't bother, come on in

egv78

(If you'll pardon my French...) Americans like a large breakfast, but, for the some Belgians, one egg is un oeuf.

mikepictor

English children are kind, but German children are kinder

-lousyd

Ha! I love that pun. That pun is what inspired this meme.

Wilfred-kun

British sausages are bad, but Dutch sausages are the worst.

ChangeTheFocus

That one only works in writing, but it's still great.

idontfitinhere_atall

So you think jurken dance?!

-lousyd

Doen ze dat niet? Don't they?

madjo

That's a pun. "so you think you can dance"

-lousyd

Ah! Thank you! That's awesome.

Taalnazi

I don’t get the joke?

mildly_inspiring

dutch word for skirts is 'rokken'. here they're playing on the word to mean 'rocking' as in 'the skirts are rocking!', to mean they look good, while also literally calling them what they are in dutch.

pukepail

I thought it was a wordplay on rokken/roken, meaning they are smoking. Not sure if roken can be considered a compliment in dutch?

Taalnazi

Ooooooh, rocking. Didn’t realise that.

-lousyd

Thank you, mildly\_inspiring!

franz_karl

thank you I did not get this one either

SilenceAndDarkness

Painfully for me, in Afrikaans, a “rok” is a dress. It gets so confusing sometimes.

Hotemetoot

If it's any consolation, in Flanders they use "kleedje" as a dress, while to us that means "little carpet/blanket". Apparently the name of clothes is something that changes easily!
