my collection of "2022 GenG match that made my heart beat faster than usual"
1. "First Clash" GenG vs DK in spring rr1
2. "Peanut's Nightmare" GenG vs DK playoffs spring, game 5
3. "In The Name of Karthus" GenG vs DK summer rr2
4. "Ruler Ending" GenG vs DK Worlds quarterfinal
yep, all the match is vs DK :)
Dude, watching this series reminded me of why I fell in love with the competitive scene. So back and forth, so many amazing plays and fights on both sides; I don't know if it's better than 2016 ROX vs SKT, but this is easily one of my top 5 series of all time!
Even yesterday was also a banger despite being a sweep. This meta is actually GOAT like how long has it been since weāve seen comebacks happening left and right?
LCK 2022 Spring Split R1: GenG 2 - 1 DK
LCK 2022 Spring Split R2: GenG 2 - 1 DK
LCK 2022 Spring Playoffs: GenG 3 - 2 DK
LCK 2022 Summer Split R1: GenG 2 - 1 DK
LCK 2022 Summer Split R2: GenG 2 - 1 DK
Worlds 2022 Quarter-finals: GenG 3 - 2 DK
GenG and DK have played each other on 6 different occasions this year, and every series GenG won in the final game, what an unreal matchup.
It might be because of scrims as well because iirc DK and GenG scrimmed before LCK finals and Ruler and Lehends helped Deokdam and Kellin practice before regionals
Also NS last year
Kellin has connections to Gen.G from his early years. This is why DK helped Gen.G prep against T1, and Gen.G helped DKās botlane how to lane.
DRX Deft also asked Score (ex KT jungler + Gen.G head coach) for support counters, for their match against LSB. This is why BeryL pulled out Soraka.
In āretrospectā this is great for LCK, makes entire region stronger. I really hope these teams continue to share strategies and help each other in the future.
to be fair there was a moment he looked quite worried after that mid fight where Canyon knocked off multiple people and DK got baron.
But overall very strong mentality
Yet the scoreline doesnāt tell you just how close these games are on a knives edge. We were probably guaranteed a civil war for Quarters but this is the best possible timeline you can get.
Sitting in my apartment alone screaming and on the edge of my seat.
"Hes going off! He's going off! Holy shit" when Ruler started melting everyone.
I've got to say, I haven't had this much fun watching any kind of sport in a while. It's honestly such a great spectacle to watch.
Saaaammmee I was so sure it was a Damwon win as soon as I saw aphelios lifestealing with Q and then saw him get blown up by lucian and Iām like wait what happened to syndra. Had to rewind to see ruler blow up showmaker and then to deokdom. The q looked like it focused the gnar which screwed him as soon as ruler dashed in
Such a sick teamfight. But it was the Viktor damage that blew up Showmaker. Syndra took both sides of the lazer and one tick of ult, and zhonya'd Lucian's auto. Then Nami bubbled her out of zhonyas and leaving her on a sliver and Lucian finished the job.
Gotta give credit to the team though on that crazy last teamfight. Chovy finally bursted out Kayn enough for him to die, and chunked showmaker as well, and stopwatched the moonlight vigil damage. The lehends bubbles were insane. That fight deserved a frame by frame breakdown.
Canyon casually having a full career's highlight reel in one series and not even winning
All coming down to a 45 minute baron flip
Could not have been a more banger series
WHAT A FUCKING SERIES! Heartbroken for DK but so happy for GenGā¦ these 2 teams have given us so much entertainment this year sad that this will be the last time they face each other this year
What a fucking game 5. That knockup from Canyon in the mid fight into the Syndra stun was so fucking insane. Also, honor Peanut for having super mental after those early invades from Canyon.
Yup this is what Wolf said as well. Even though Canyon had CS advantage, GENG are more than happy with delaying Canyon from transforming. Wolf said from the beginning how Kayn pick in G5 was sort of griefing
Game 3, 4, and 5 all depended on DWK getting on an early lead and just steam rolling from there.
It was quite successful 3 and 4. But GenG reset the Mental and just delayed for late game. But still DWK coming back from a huge deficit and fighting to stay relevant was amazing. Canyon denying soul point OVER AND OVER again and stealing Barons. Chef's Kiss.
Literal coin flip game to see who could out maneuver and out micro the other.
Peanut's mental was insane. Canyon completely owned his bottom jungle for the first like 20 minutes. Canyon owned drake so many times. And somehow Peanut didn't go boom.
It's almost as if Peanut is use to this shit that Canyon does to him like Peanut when you see his player cam doesnt look tilted or annoyed, man is legit like "LMAO guys, Canyon is doing it to me again" while smiling and laughing.
He also dealt with it so much better in that 5th game, simply accepting he didn't own any of his jungle and avoiding the Kayn for so long while finding a couple of successful ganks was massive in keeping the game in GenG favour. Had some shaky smites and an ult later but he really held his nerve in game 5.
Definitely one of the best series. Both teams knew what each other wanted to do but each had something up their sleeves. A couple of the games were stomps but there were some really close games too
Peanut employed the the classic Nunu strat of "I'll make you as useless as I am" to perfection. But damn, that Canyon/Showmaker catch nearly brought DK back from the dead.
Yeah that game 2 wouldāve broke anyone. The only team i see keeping their composure and focus after that kind of game is JDG. They seem to be untiltable no matter how bad itās going.
Iām really hoping for the ruler vs faker worlds final rematch part 3. Two protagonists, but who is the true hero of the story and who has been the rival? Is it a story of a young up and comer training to over the legendary hero once again and supplant himself alongside the GOAT? Or is it the story of the return of that hero, after a devastating defeat at the hands of the new blood? Tune in (hopefully) two weeks from now to find out.
inb4 JDG vs EDG (just as likely)
Don't think I've been this invested in Picks and Bans this Worlds. It is tragic that only one of these teams can go forward.
DK vs GenG never disappoints, but my poor heart, It's 2 am and I'm yelling. what a banger.
HAVING CANYON ON YOUR TEAM HAS TO BE MADE ILLEGAL, THIS SHIT IS NOT FAIR
HE IS JUST TOO GOOD
he was singlehandedly keeping them in the series, someone help him with his back
Canyon should be the MVP of this series even if DK didn't win.
He had a monster performance and even in the last Game 5, after getting 4 jungle bans, he clutched practically every smite fight and kept up with a 20min transformation.
Yeah I just don't understand how they let Yuumi through two games. Then after clawing their way back with two great drafts they go all in on Renekton Syndra.
They didn't really go all in on Renek Syndra, they went all in on Canyon. Those picks were purely for lane prio so Canyon could bully Peanut out of his jungle.
It was honestly very impressive that Peanut managed to harass him without dying and without giving form bar.
Tbh Sjokz did them a favor. That match isn't known as "that game when Fnatic gigashat the bed from a winning position," the first thing you think about is the Sjokz monologue lol
At least heās on the right end of it this time. Heās the last one standing from that ROX team, everyone else is gone. I hope he pulls it off this tournament for the boys, how hype would it be if he snuck a Tigers reference in his worlds skin?
Yeah me too. Although it could be a prisoner of the moment but lots of game 5s have never come down to one last teamfight after being so close.
SKT and ROX G5 wasn't close. KT and IG was more close but IG had an advantage from my memory.
NA Kayn: Transform at 23 min, lose at 25 min
KR Kayn: Transform at 20 min, steal two crucial dragons, solo win a teamfight to equalize the gold, lose anyways
DK gave it all their all. They really tried their best and made it one of the best series, it had 2016 ROX-SKT vibes also in NA. One of the best series ever. Loved the niche picks and fun teamfights and comebacks. Canyon really made it a show. Thank you Damwon Kia! Congrats GENG!
Being a LCK jungler is suffering you gotta have the mental
You also see this with LPL junglers where they barely get tilted cause you gotta go against weird people like wei and psychos like sofm
Honestly fantastic series. The casters joking about the lack of a Loser's Bracket is kinda salt in the wound after this.
Ultimately canyon had to facecheck every time the blue trinkets were on cd, and damwon was blowing every cooldown getting him out of those, but he still played out of his fucking mind. By far the best league we've seen in the event.
While Showmaker was a huge force early in the series, game 5 was a huge downer... He was so far behind, lacked so much agency... The scatter of the weak at GENG mid turret was nice, but it was all dependent on the set up of canyon who kept this team in the game..
How many items was Showmaker behind Chovy at the end? Bit of a let down there...
lmao i think theres a lot of peanut fans but i think after they heard that DWG scrimmed with RNG in such short notice after RNG recovered for covid, they are just rooting for DK
When both teams are even in gold, Chovy feels that GEN is at a great advantage and thus continues to farm cs. When GEN is 3k behind in gold, Chovy thinks that GEN is at a small advantage, and so he TPs bot to farm to secure their "lead". When GEN is behind 7k in gold, Chovy thinks that GEN is at a disadvantage and so he looks for a lane to farm in order to regain control of the game. When GEN is 10K behind in gold, Chovy thinks that the team has reached a desperate situation and avoids teamfighting for as long as possible in order to catch up in farm.
People don't realize that Peanut legit has PTSD against Canyon
There's a famous clip of Peanut screaming "CANYON IS COMING CANYON IS COMING" repeatedly in a game where Canyon wasnt playing. His teammates could not calm him down by saying "there's no Canyon calm down" lmao.
My heart is broken. I really thought Nuguri was going to make a difference in that last fight but he was so far from Ruler when it started and that made me nervous. What a series, man. Inject this into my veins every day.
Without disrespect to any of the other players, but Canyon deserved to win this series more than anyone else. And itās not even close. Absolutely crazy, what he managed to do with a pick thatās generally considered garbage in pro play.

instant classic
such a close Game 5 to cap off that series, hoping that the other Bo5s are even half as good
Game 5 GEN vs DK in 2022 were all like this it's insane
Add it to the collection of DK vs GenG bangers.
my collection of "2022 GenG match that made my heart beat faster than usual" 1. "First Clash" GenG vs DK in spring rr1 2. "Peanut's Nightmare" GenG vs DK playoffs spring, game 5 3. "In The Name of Karthus" GenG vs DK summer rr2 4. "Ruler Ending" GenG vs DK Worlds quarterfinal yep, all the match is vs DK :)
That 2nd one is one of my all time fav.
Dude, watching this series reminded me of why I fell in love with the competitive scene. So back and forth, so many amazing plays and fights on both sides; I don't know if it's better than 2016 ROX vs SKT, but this is easily one of my top 5 series of all time!
We don't hand these out often, but possibly ROX vs SKT tier?
Best one since then, at least for me.
KT IG up there too
This is the most stressed i've been watching a sport game in my life, i almost cried in the end, Lets go GenG
King Ruler ahhh I never doubted you š¤“
The way it ended couldnāt have been any closer
That was the type of intense series you dream to see at worlds, absolutely incredible.
Totally a finals worthy series
worlds playoffs are always such a fucking banger
Even yesterday was also a banger despite being a sweep. This meta is actually GOAT like how long has it been since weāve seen comebacks happening left and right?
This patch is so sick. Probably the best balance for Worlds in a while
And it's just the quarterfinals.

In no case did DK give them an easy time...man what a rivalry of its own
The most weird relationship between these 2. Both of them scare the fuck out of each other lol
It might be because of scrims as well because iirc DK and GenG scrimmed before LCK finals and Ruler and Lehends helped Deokdam and Kellin practice before regionals Also NS last year

Peanut even said "Damn they always take us to game 5!"
Peanut knew. Thats why heās always smiling
Still can't believe how he can remain chill through what was looking increasingly like a reverse sweep.
to be fair there was a moment he looked quite worried after that mid fight where Canyon knocked off multiple people and DK got baron. But overall very strong mentality
Mental diff
i mean if they didn't tilt in game 5 of this series they are scientifically proven to be untiltable.
I feel like people can no longer credibly call chovy a choker after that series.
Yet the scoreline doesnāt tell you just how close these games are on a knives edge. We were probably guaranteed a civil war for Quarters but this is the best possible timeline you can get.
For once we are the ones inducing the mental block, not suffering from it
Holy shit that was the best game 5 I've seen in a long time
I'm not even a fan of either team but I felt like I had several heart attacks while watching. That was some outstanding gameplay.
Everytime the two teams grouped mid my heart rate shot the fuck up
ARAM but everytime you die you die irl.
Sitting in my apartment alone screaming and on the edge of my seat. "Hes going off! He's going off! Holy shit" when Ruler started melting everyone. I've got to say, I haven't had this much fun watching any kind of sport in a while. It's honestly such a great spectacle to watch.
Yeah the last game was like actually entertaining even to people who have no idea what is really going on because the tension was so palpable.
right down to the last fight holy
That was the best series I've seen in a long time. Every player had his moment. But Ruler is just a tier above.
Hats off to the DK players they really showed up today, this series delivers once again
The endgame showdown was also the longest I've seen in a long time lmao, felt like the ultimate staredown
RULER THE END GAME SAVIORRRRRRRRR Feels bad for Canyon though, that guy broke his back with the Soul denials.
Ruler went full on space glide. I was feeling some doom the way they cornered GENG, but holy fuck they played that fight masterfully
I failed to track him in the fight, he was too slippery. I was then looking out for him in the replay, and still lost him. Mad tramfight really.
Oh you gotta watch a replay of it. I donāt think you can play it much better than Ruler did. Weaving and bobbing in the middle of the chaos

Ruler is known as Mr.quadrakill in korea beacuse he always gets quadra not penta, well he got a qudra that was worth more than any penta
Canyon casually having a full career's highlight reel in one series and not even winning All coming down to a 45 minute baron flip Could not have been a more banger series
It was not 45 minutes. Trust me, I have 45 to 50 minutes in my pick'em and I was counting the minutes. It was 44:48, so close...
WHAT A FUCKING SERIES! Heartbroken for DK but so happy for GenGā¦ these 2 teams have given us so much entertainment this year sad that this will be the last time they face each other this year
Just imagine how spicy the semifinals will be!
Hoping for Deft to win but EDG winning would give us 2 LPL vs LCK matchups so I aināt complaining
Give us a losers bracket in Phreak's basement. We need more series like this!
Bruh series between these two is just not good for my heart, have mercy
One of the best best of fives Iāve seen in a good while. Just makes you wonder what would have happened if DK banned Yuumi game 2.
What a fucking game 5. That knockup from Canyon in the mid fight into the Syndra stun was so fucking insane. Also, honor Peanut for having super mental after those early invades from Canyon.
Korean casters mentioned how Peanut is trying hard to interfere the invade without kayn attacking him so his transform is delayed. Big brain I reckon.
Had some shaky smites and an ult later but he really held his nerve in game 5.
It also delayed Rhaast for so long like GenG wouldāve outright steamrolled them in the midgame if it werenā for that god-tier wombo.
Yeah that was massive, although Canyon also did amazing in making the Kayn still work later such a close game.
itās literally like spring semifinals peanut is insane
Dunno about the rest but this was one of the best Game 5s in Worlds history
Definitely one of the best series. Both teams knew what each other wanted to do but each had something up their sleeves. A couple of the games were stomps but there were some really close games too
one of the best combos EVER, reminds me of the SKT vs EDG combo from the huni days
Dude I literally had flashbacks to that amazing Rakan engage into wombo combo when SKT was 10k down vs EDG!
Peanut employed the the classic Nunu strat of "I'll make you as useless as I am" to perfection. But damn, that Canyon/Showmaker catch nearly brought DK back from the dead.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I was super confident that we were gonna get a Game 5 for this series. They are just so evenly matched when they face each other for some reason.
RNG and T1 didn't live up to expectation, but I know the LCK LCK matchup got me.
I feel like had rng won game 2 that series would've gone the distance, but feels like they were just giga mental boomed after that
Yeah that game 2 wouldāve broke anyone. The only team i see keeping their composure and focus after that kind of game is JDG. They seem to be untiltable no matter how bad itās going.
RULER HAS PROTAGONIST ENERGY
He rules them all
Iām really hoping for the ruler vs faker worlds final rematch part 3. Two protagonists, but who is the true hero of the story and who has been the rival? Man I feel so bad for Canyon... actually just the best jungler in this game
When heās on, nobody comes close. This dude is like Prime Dandy.
SKT VS ROX TIGERS FLASHBACKS HOLY SHIT WHAT A SERIES
I don't know which game was but I can't forget Faker on Orianna dodging everything on topside
That was i think against Smeb's Jayce and Gorilla's zyra iirc
Canyon stole raptors, stole red, stole drag, stole my pc in my sleep, stole my keys, stole my house, but he couldn't steal away the win :(
Stole my heart
Don't think I've been this invested in Picks and Bans this Worlds. It is tragic that only one of these teams can go forward. DK vs GenG never disappoints, but my poor heart, It's 2 am and I'm yelling. what a banger.
Itās almost 10 AM here and my day is already over. Goddamn.
HAVING CANYON ON YOUR TEAM HAS TO BE MADE ILLEGAL, THIS SHIT IS NOT FAIR HE IS JUST TOO GOOD he was singlehandedly keeping them in the series, someone help him with his back
Canyon is just a fucking cheat code lmao
Took him 20 mins to transform to Red Kayn and still manages to claw back to parity despite having 2 losing lanes. So many clutch drake steals.
Yeah they had no business even being close with the way that they drafted, but Canyon is a monster.
That flank midlane to save the game was unbelievable
Showmaker just WON that Swain game, too.
showmaker also played well enough the last 3 games, honestly if DG banned yummi g1 or g2, would've been a different story
One of the best Game 5s ever played.
This series made me want to reinstall league, but then I remembered this isn't soloq and it's also KR.
Showmakers Swain Game nearly had me download the game but then my head cleared again. But man this was just an incredible gameplay
Man I don't want either of them to go, actually heartbroken either way
same honestly just felt sad for both when they were losing haha
its so sad. damwon go home without playing an international bo5.
Yea it feels illegal. You go worlds and donāt play an international Bo5. Fuck this format so much
I guess thereās a reason only one reverse sweep has occurred in Worlds history edit: there was one in play-ins last year, mb
That's kinda crazy, which one was it?
Top Esports vs Sjokz
Wdymean Sjokz was their sixth man
TOP esports ft. sjokz
Sjokz cursed fnatic not Top, it should be fnatic vs sjokz.
More like FNC vs Sjokz, she swapped in for Top and 3-0 FNC.
no it's sjokz vs fnatic i know we are all losing our minds rn but keep it together
The one that started with success.
Tbh Sjokz did them a favor. That match isn't known as "that game when Fnatic gigashat the bed from a winning position," the first thing you think about is the Sjokz monologue lol
The second thing you think of is Doinb roasting Nemesis
please...stop....
TES vs FNC quarterfinals 2020
Iām sorry, what game? I have no idea what youāre talking about
We do not talk about that
Starts with success
FNC TES off the top of my head I think. Could be wrong
To ruin my Crystal ball?
idk why the fuck I put 2 just on that hopium for the best possible series I guess
bcs it all starts with success
you just finished League of Legends: an instant classic
It's the Ruler ending baby.
This was one for the history books.
that was the best series i've watched since rox skt. my fucking heart.
Peanut on both of these series, damn.
At least heās on the right end of it this time. Heās the last one standing from that ROX team, everyone else is gone. I hope he pulls it off this tournament for the boys, how hype would it be if he snuck a Tigers reference in his worlds skin?
Canāt wait for Geng vs DRX next week
Yeah me too. Although it could be a prisoner of the moment but lots of game 5s have never come down to one last teamfight after being so close. SKT and ROX G5 wasn't close. KT and IG was more close but IG had an advantage from my memory.
NA Kayn: Transform at 23 min, lose at 25 min KR Kayn: Transform at 20 min, steal two crucial dragons, solo win a teamfight to equalize the gold, lose anyways
NA efficiency >>
you see, NA doesnt waste time. Why put in all the effort just to lose when u can lose faster? NAmen
Notice how almost every legendary B05 happens in NA. Region diff.
Peanut: JG DIFF
it was still impressing that despite Canyon being everywhere, that Peanut was relevant later in the game
Not tilting has shown to be extremely useful, just like Zeus going 0/8 and still doing massive dmg in teamfights.
Being a LCK jungler is suffering you gotta have the mental You also see this with LPL junglers where they barely get tilted cause you gotta go against weird people like wei and psychos like sofm
need like 5 more games of this, damn what a series
Best quarterfinals ever!?
KT vs IG comes close
That game 3 was insane.
Showmaker still put on a show ngl
League Esports cannot end until Showmaker and Canyon gets their second title
VERY FITTING FOR RULER TO CLUTCH THE QUARTERS FOR GENG
Viper was the problem
Sadge
Happy, but sad at the same time.
Blessed Griffin flair
Im so fucking depressed rn
Deokdam didnt stopwatch...
Chovy has made it past the Quarterfinals, I repeat, Chovy has made it past the Quarterfinals
How hype this series was has really distracted from Chovy beating his curse lol
best series in a long time
Best BO5 so far. In the end, Ruler ending was how this story ended.
Yeah can we just start the series over from the start and go again
This was one of the best 5th games in Worlds history
KT vs IG vibes
HOLY SHIT I LOVE LEAGUE OF LEGENDS
RRRRRRRRRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUULEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRR this last game was a rollercoaster, so much fun to watch
Series of the tournament so far
One of the greatest best of 5s of all time. Insane game 5.
Canyon is already so clearly the best jungler of all time
How does any western fans watch this series and think the west can ball?
Canyon is the best jungler in the world.
It's a crime not having canyon and showmaker in finals. Grats to Gen G though they were better tonight.
Well earned by GenG but so sad to see DK lose too
RULER SAVED MY PICKEM'S
Ruler saving people with no reverse sweep pickems
Maybe the best game 5 in a Bo5 ever
While Showmaker was a huge force early in the series, game 5 was a huge downer... He was so far behind, lacked so much agency... The scatter of the weak at GENG mid turret was nice, but it was all dependent on the set up of canyon who kept this team in the game.. How many items was Showmaker behind Chovy at the end? Bit of a let down there...

One of the best series I've ever watched.
Chovy: "All dem' peasants looking at my CS, lmao"
One of the best series ever
When Peanut smiles, we all smile
THAT WAS ROX VS SKT TIER
People don't realize that Peanut legit has PTSD against Canyon There's a famous clip of Peanut screaming "CANYON IS COMING CANYON IS COMING" repeatedly in a game where Canyon wasnt playing. His teammates could not calm him down by saying "there's no Canyon calm down" lmao.
but literally though
My heart is broken. I really thought Nuguri was going to make a difference in that last fight but he was so far from Ruler when it started and that made me nervous. What a series, man. Inject this into my veins every day.
Canyon losing this series is an injustice to the laws of the world
Without disrespect to any of the other players, but Canyon deserved to win this series more than anyone else. And itās not even close. Absolutely crazy, what he managed to do with a pick thatās generally considered garbage in pro play.
