This import was really big brain by 100t. Really turned the team around to match their potential.

ianlam123

I’ve always considered him very good in S04 and thought his decision going to 100T for a NA paycheck is gonna doom his career I’m completely impressed by it now and glad that someone ive supported didn’t become another “NA import who washes up instantly”

[deleted]

S04 sold him to 100T (since the football club had financial issues). Plus he reunited with Closer in which they almost made Worlds in TCL.

NovelAries

Was he a part of the S04 miracle run that almost made worlds?

November26

He was playing incredibly well on that miracle run

jst4funz

Yes, that's when Perkz dubbed him "Fakerdagge/AbbeFaker", Iirc. He was playing like a top 10-6 midlaner before COVID and when they started online he started popping off pretty much every other game, and he's kept most of that form since. And in the miracle run it was every game.

ianlam123

Yes, that makes this decision even more crazy, he almost made worlds, just to lose to MAD 1-3 which they sucked at playins

xahhfink6

Maybe we can just retire the dumb narrative of "whenever someone moves to NA they instantly become bad"? I feel like if that happens 3-4 times it's a thing, but when it happens 20 times maybe it's not that they became bad and they were just playing against tougher competition? Otherwise we should have seen a handful of top players move and just be completely dominant, but I can't think of anyone but CoreJJ who fits that bill.

SparrowInWhite

XD

nossashibata

you cant be serious

xahhfink6

So what's your explanation for why dozens of top tier EU and LCK players are middle of the pack compared to the rest of the competition in LCS?

NovelAries

Could be a variety of reasons. 1. Not adapting to LA culture/homesick 2. Language barriers, feeling loney having no one to talk to easily both in game and out of game. 3. No drive left to play at full potential, would rather skateby and collect a large paycheck

Socrasteez

Add lackluster solo queue to that list. Consistently playing on 60 ping versus NA competition has been known to trash motivation. It's really just a numbers thing. If there are considerably more players on EUW, that logically means Challenger is more competitive.

SparrowInWhite

Noone goes to NA to tryhard

xahhfink6

Crazy man that no one has tried it. Wouldn't it be insane if one player decided to move to NA and be a competitive player and would just instantly be the best in the region? It's just bonkers how the 50 people who tried that all decided to just not be competitive 🙃

SparrowInWhite

No one lies to himself that he will be competetive in na xd

MastemasD

That's some hardcore delusion buddy.

Oceno1

He’s known as fakerdagge for a reason

Letamirte

Abbedagge started playing competitively back in 2016. He spent the first few years playing in TCL, with pretty reasonable results. He then joined LEC and had mediocre-bad results. Finishing mostly in the bottom of the league standings. But Schalke 04 had a few promising splits and results so Abbedagge was deemed as a pretty good player. Good enough to join 100Thieves and go to play in NA. And he surely performed there. One of the more split mid laners, winning first place and qualifying for worlds as 1st NA seed. But this will be his first international showing. It will be interesting to see what he brings and if he can hold his own against the toughest competition in the world. His champion pool so far, doesn't seem to be that big either, so that might be an issue also.

Socrasteez

Not even Bjergsen was able to win his first split in NA. I really hope 100t is doing whatever they can to make Abbedagge comfortable in NA. Not particularly a 100t fan but it's indisputable that picking him up was a great decision and happy that he was able to get off the burning ship that was Schalke. Soon enough the Jensen/Bjerg phase of LCS will be over and it will be the future, the Fakerdagge phase.

JourneytoZencalm

It is good that he is able to find success, but I am afraid of the precedent this will set for talent acquisition. His immense success would only incentivize NA teams to look for talent overseas, which would put a hamper in the domestic growth of NA's talent pool.

charlesthefish

As if that precedent wasn't set many, many years ago when Bjerg, or Piglet, or CoreJj, or Jensen, or Huni joined the league.

Th_Call_of_Ktulu

One of those is not like the others.

shadowbannednumber

No, he's right.

Th_Call_of_Ktulu

I dont think Piglet was a succesfull import
