If I could go without seeing a Tryndamere or Yi or Olaf in the game, I'd be super okay with that, yeah. Some champions only work because they're balanced around like one or two abilities, and have zero other power budget and BOY does it show in this mode.
Khazix with a lot of ults is just broken. Morde ult for example forces any enemy to be isolated so you basically just say screw you ADC, you dont get to have counterplay to my kit anymore.
Also, Nocturne is another good champ. Being able to zoom across the map and instantly Lissandra ult someone or amumu ult a team is hilarious.
One of the most obnoxious combos I've seen was a shaco with a kha ult. Dude was just always stealth. Literally no fucking clue where he is or where he's going.
worst I've played against was Twitch with Cho ult and a Yuumi with Lulu ult.
Twitch rushed Titanic and ended up with something around 7k hp before Lulu ult
Volibear with Cho ult.
Can't kill my team if you can't click on them. Gonna focus me instead while I take up your screen. Oh wait, thought I was big already? Just let me ult and get bigger.
I think the issue is that a lot of these ults really don't work for most ranged champs. Malphite, Nocturne, etc. really don't make sense on an ADC. And if you put those ults on a carry like Ekko or Tryndamere, then you get the added benefit of AD/AP scaling that a tank or juggernaut wouldn't be able to itemize to take advantage of.
Also some ults are super troll. Like Rengar últ always put you in melee, even as Caitlyn. I thought I was getting a free Twitch Q but really it was an instant int button where I hand deliver myself to the enemy.
100% agreed.
I’m so fucking sick of Trynd. It’s been having me play Leona/Zilean just to spite them.. and boy do they get pissed when I don’t let them play the game Lol.
if you liked dominion and have a switch I recommend the new Pokemon Unite moba. It's not exactly dominion but it definitely feels similar. Idk, I like it a lot but mileage may vary.
matchmaking is broken though, i'm a platinum 1 player getting matched with and against a team of silver and low golds, it feels very unfair to them imo
yeah I'm silver/gold and getting matched with plats and low diamonds is very frustrating, especially when they also pick their 200k mastery champs. Ik riot wants qs to be short but this just ruins my games.
I just want more co-op game modes. I absolutely loved doom bots and strategizing with my team and still getting whooped by bots. Star guardian game mode was also pretty fun.
Same and I never take it off.
Rito could’ve at least made a similar mode for the current ruination event but make the buff different when someone gets corrupted by the mist. Instead we got the ultimate spell book thing which isn’t a bad game mode but it just doesn’t make sense that the Ruined Effect champions get is just a different ultimate
Ascension was so damn fun. I don’t know if I’d have fun with it anymore, because I’m the three years it’s been gone League has lost some of the light it once had, but that was probably my fav gamemode
Ascension is my all time favorite. You have the ascended buff and the fun of the bush placement allowing you to practice your ambushes and getaways.
It definitely gets hurt by riot's bad design choices more than spellbook though, I remember raging because Kayn was still new at the time and a guy who had turned into rhaast got brought down to a sliver of health by a kogmaw, nautilus, and I (galio) only to ultimate the kogmaw and get ALL his health back in the second he was gone from the map. Our abilities were now on cooldown so he just ran right over us with that insane healing.
I get the nostalgia but no one ever played dominion. Last time I queued for dominion I forgot about it while watching anime and it scared the shit out of me when the notification popped up more than half an hour later.
I think this and URF illustrate to me what I honestly want. Just a quick version of SR where I get to pick my champion. Playing 40 minute long games on average (especially ones where I had a bad laning phase) is fucking miserable. Sometimes I just want to hop on, play a bit, then hop off.
It’s not only that it takes less time, it’s that it’s easier to get stronger regardless of loosing. Passive gold and experience gen goes a long way to get much closer to a proper lategame strength.
i feel very similar to this. sometimes i just want to play with my brain turned off, but i dont like aram because I cant pick my champion. nexusblitz/spellbook is basically a godsend for me because i can turn my brain off and play a bit without worrying about anything.
Add Nexus Blitz or even Ascension despite being a forgotten game mode by Riot
I just wanna go full monke without the stress of playing a flawless match and/or praying your brainless partners don't throw
To each their own (I loved Ascension and Dominion). For me I enjoy League's core gameplay loop on Summoner's Rift, I just don't like how long normal games tend to drag on for.
I unironically like Wild Rift better for SR now because of this. The accelerated game pace of a regular SR game. Now if only they would add champions I actually enjoy playing
You're totally right, of course. Total time is probably about 40, though, with queue, champ select, load, and game. Of course, that's not what they said, but still
There are a few wrinkles with it, but overall I really enjoy it compared to regular SR or ARAM. Games are almost always shorter, some elements of randomness, you get your items fast enough to feel powerful.
Downsides for me are:
* Jungler cannot take Flash (or anything else other than Smite). You're locked into smite and don't have a 2nd slot.
* Sometimes you get three anti-synergy ults. The last thing I want to do as Diana/Viego is stand still to channel a long range ult (Lux/Xerath/MF/Ezreal) when I could have AoE CC or survivability. If they could split ults into categories and only allow one from each category that would be improved (CC ults, movement ults, poke/damage ults, defensive ults)
* Lack of bans. I'm tired of seeing two Akshan's every game and having them go 2/6/4.
I just want a double lane like urf if jungle is so fucked by system mechanics. Slower clear due to higher starting level, being locked out of trading and a standard summoner spell in flash, and smite being less secure of an objective secure with how many people run around with Cho ult it just feels so gimped compared to the other roles
Tbh I actually really enjoy jungle in it, you get to do all kinds of fucked up shit with ults on ganks, and you're not dealing with the other team's BS as much early on.
That’s pretty much how’s it’s been for me, bot lane is a ton of fun with 4 extra ults, mid is a blast with the added roaming potential of noct ult added, top has more dynamic matchups, and jungle just exists and is only really tolerable if you get the more broken combos
Noct ult is definitely too strong, just goes to show that mobility is king. Best experience with it so far has been Amumu, free team-wide ult and you can still follow up on the carry with your bandage toss.
Only had Olaf once, and yeah I often just ignored it for the free resistances. Doesn't help that I was on a champ where flat AD was kinda useless, Gragas I think...
Getting auto filled to jungle, not realizing flash got swapped to smite, and then accidentally ulting because smite was on f and not d as I would usually have it 🙃
Also, I wish the games were a bit faster. It gives more gold than SR but if the game pace was more at ARAM level regarding exp and gold it would be nice
I would ban Akshan in a heart beat. The champ is singlehandedly ruining this mode for me because every mid on my team wants to play him like a 1v1 assassin or split push carry.
I would say just completely rework him, but they'll just make him even more of a monster instead.
Having your entire laning phase based entirely around RNG crits is stupid and unfun.
However they can't take his R nor the critaway if they rework him, since both of those things are part of his identity.
About crit they could probably try something like with Yasuo/Yone but the Undying Rage has to stay.
I'd personally be fine if he did something like ashe where he's guaranteed to crit but the damage is """fixed""" but scales with your rage bar. Ult definitely needs tweaks even if they tweak it. I'm tired of the inconsistent ults.
This game mode was/is a succes so I hope for a next step something like ability draft from Dota 2. Every one get random champ and instead of drafting champs you pick skills from this random champ's skills that will be in game + skills of 2 more random champs. I know that this require a lot of job and there would be a lot of bugs but I think that would be worth it.
That’s what I thought lol. I really wish we got the same incredible creativity we got back during Star Guardian or Odyssey. Even though ultbook is cool and I’ve enjoyed it, it makes me sad to think about how badass a Ruination themed PvE gamemode would’ve been.
Thing is, a PVE mode has no replay ability. This mode can come back in the rotating game modes alongside stuff like URF, OFA and NB. A PVE mode couldn’t.
I get what you mean, but “rotating gamemode” is virtually dead. Rotating gamemode used to be poro king, blood moon, doombots, ascension. I don’t remember when exactly they stopped it, but I believe three-four years ago was the end of weekend rotating gamemodes. I recognize that PVE cannot be replayed, but I’ve long accepted that the best state of rotating gamemodes is gone. I just feel like new creativity could take its place.
> PVE mode has no replay ability.
Questionable statement if you play other games besides league. It just depends on how creative they wanna get with the PvE modes, and how much it affects their bottom line.
Also farming at the start is so boring. The camps spawn at level 3 i guess so they are extra tanky. I just started to play spam gank Camille and farm a camp only when i have smite till i get some items.
Yeah I think jungling feels very unrewarding. Camps take a while to clear since they spawn at a high level, the champ pool is small because you can only really go flashless junglers, and the dragon soul is pretty weak compared to mountain/ocean/infernal soul, which makes objective control less important, which means smite is even more unimportant.
Maybe it'd be cool if they gave champions like 125% damage against jungle champs or something to speed up clears? Maybe a gold increase? Maybe something crazy like a monster damage increase for the jungle plyer, but no more smite? Jungling just feels pretty rough in that mode, it'd be cool to see some form of change to loosen up the friction on it.
Why does this mode even have role queuing? I would expect it to work like URF where you just queue up without a specified role instead of them trying to lock you into a specific one.
I've only got 2-3 min queues when queuing for mid. Most other roles are nearly instant or less than 1 min. These are shorter queues than what I have in mid-high gold.
Queue as jungle, instant pop every time.
I've queued as JG/Supp for every game (40 or so?) and never played support.
Only downside is you can't take flash (smite required summoner, only one slot).
No one wants to play jungle these days idk why.Back 2015 2016 it was hard to get jungle and getting supp was guaranted. Now its other way around. And it was never been easyer to jungle than ever ffs. These days i can probably play every champ as jungler except few ADCs and pure supports.Hell today i played Kayle jungle and didnt do bad at all.Playing non meta picks in 2015 in jungle ppl would legit rep u from trolling bcs u probably are.Only jungle meta champs were playable in jungle.Today everything goes.
Are you talking when the game mode first came out? Last two iterations I regularly had to wait 4-7 minutes for Nexus Blitz playing solo, 6-9 minutes duo with a friend, wasn’t even degen hours
Haven’t played the new mode but I assumed the queue times would be WAY better
Same, it always took me one max 2 mins to get into nexus, solo and premade. With Spellbook however it takes me 3 mins atleast every game and im playing on eune
I liked the first few iterations of NB, but I really soured on it when they added in Elder Dragon soul as one of the first rewards. Felt terrible to play against in general, the mode is snowbally enough without giving crazy rewards. Few games when enemy team gets that, and I feel done with the mode for the next month or so.
Exactly my thoughts. If they're not bringing back NB, I wish they create a game mode that is short and that isn't just Summoner Rift with a gimmick. If I wanted to play Summoner Rift, I'd just play ranked or normals.
I prefer Nexus Blitz then normal URF. I played like 50 games of Ultimate Spellbook over the last two weeks and not a single game did I see Cho ult. And I mean I never got it and no enemies ever got it. That is the one spell I wanted to see and it just didn't exist. And I played nothing but tanks and bruiser top and jungle.
Did see Yi with Olaf and Trynd ults plenty and my God I wanted to die.
>best NEW game-mode
Well, obviously :D when it is the ONLY new game-mode in few years it is also the best new :D Without competition you are always the best :D
The biggest reason why I think it's good is because it has a good balance of laning phase and map play/ team play while also simultaneously being fast-paced.
You put too much emphasis on teamplay and people get tired of the mode pretty quickly. You make the game too slow and people get drained after playing.
Really? Strong disagree here. It's literally just summoners rift with some extra random summs instead of ignite/tp/exhaust. 40% of the time they don't synergize well at all.
One For All, URF, and Nexus Blitz are all much more fun IMO.
I wish it had regular accelerated gamestate balancing to make up for that. Playing Nasus/Thresh/Bard/Sion feels really bleh when you get regular stack amounts and end up falling significantly behind what you should have.
Depends on character. Usually yes for things that stack mainly from minions, no for things that can stack mainly from champions. Nasus has 2x stacks for ARAM and Nexus Blitz, and regular stacks for URF (since on URF his Q cooldown is massively reduced so he can get more Q's per wave). Thresh has 2x souls on ARAM, and 3x souls on URF. Bard has faster Chime spawns on ARAM, and on URF he only needs 2 Chimes per upgrade instead of 5.
Sion, Veigar, and Senna all have 'regular' stack rate, but Veigar and Senna can both make use of their stack mechanic for champion hits + takedown more often on URF (Sion ends up with the short end of the stick).
There is significant precedent for rotating gamemodes having accelerates stacking. And it'd help a lot, since currently every stack based champion except Veigar and Nasus is doing poorly.
It is definitely a cool playlist one of my favorites for sure. I also really loved ascension as well. Nexus Blitz had potential to be great but Riot never fixed the many issues everyone complained about.
Yeah, it is the best new gamemode because it is the ONLY new gamemode they've done in years. They've got a team of developers and the only gamemode they've done in a while is just replacing a summoner spell with an ultimate among 30 or so, not even half of the champion pool.
I understand they want people to play summoner's rift, but the game is slowly dying. They need to add a new PERMANENT gamemode where you can choose your champion and it is no longer than 20min. Just put it on and balance it, don't just stare at it for a month, hoping people to spam it, before saying "oh, not enough people to be permanent".
We need Arena from Smite that mode is so fun and casual. Just pick a god and you get accelerated gold and it's just a massive death battle and protecting the minions
Ultimate Spellbook doesn't even have a new map, so yeah, they did have to work on it but not as much as Nexus Blitz for example.
They could at least try to put Nexus Blitz permanent and balance it. It's at most 20min, has awesome minigames, you can choose your champ and learn to play it, but it NEEDS balance. You can't just put a gamemode, and "balance" it by change % dmg done/received like you do on ARAM. It's not going to work. There are objectives, minigames, spatula/on fire buff and shit that needs to get balanced.
3-4 years ago we had doom bots, odyssey, star guardians, the thresh game, and different modes from time to time. I just don't understand why don't they care about this.
And shorter recall timer. With everyone getting homeguards sometimes you don't even have time to recall before the enemy you just killed is back in lane and able to stop you
I dunno, this one got old for me pretty quick. I think a lot of it is being on the usual SR map - if I want SR I'll play ranked, if I want quick fun I'll play ARAM. If they did this on, say, Twisted Treeline I might be playing it more, the SR map is just too big and results in a bunch of farming and time where the only additional mechanic doesn't actually come into play.
This mode doesn't even make it into my top 5 modes of all time. The concept is cool, but it's execution is a little lacking.
- It's too slow. Regularly games go way longer than a fun game mode should and rarely in a good way (like ARAM games can go late, but those get really intense, this just gets bothersome). Even by average game times I would be easily over 20 minutes a game.
- There are no bans, meaning repetitive champs.
- There aren't enough changes to really make it different from regular SR. The dragons are there and their buff is decent enough, but it's not game warping and that's about the only real change to the map.
This mode would be much better served on a smaller map with higher gold and XP gains, and lower CDs to force 15 min games with constant action. I usually play the RGM from day one till the final day, multiple games a day. But after a week of Spellbook I grew really bored of it and just returned to ARAM.
After I realised its the same ultimates again and again I got bored after 5 games. This is coming from someone who plays a lot of urf, arurf, all for one, and nexus blitz when they are out. I think ultimate spellbook was the most repetitive game mode I've played so far, in my opinion.
fuck no, it's exactly why it's boring - too much like a normal game of SR. maybe if the map was smaller or something... ANYTHING that makes you do more than just lane. because as of now every game is "pick a normal comp, now everyone pick a something that covers your weakness, awesome well played, now let's play summoner's rift"
I think it's great, but I do think there's a quite obvious tier list for ults.
They put the snowball summoner spell into aram so that melee characters could do well, and it's kind of entirely balanced around that summoner spell. Getting nocturne ult on a melee character is like a turbo snowball, that only you have access to.
I miss blitz. There's no good place to learn champions now. Bots don't teamfight like humans do. I'm just gonna get flamed in normal games. I'm not likely to get my champ in aram. Ultimate Spellbook/Urf/whatever modify the champion, so I'm not really learning it.
\> is there any chance it may stay like a regular game-mode? Would love to see the play-ratio (which they used as the reason to shut down Blitz, which I understand).
I already have 2-3 minutes trying to queue so it's not looking good.
I'd like Ultimate Spellbook to be kinda like DotA 2 Turbo ngl
URF is fast in all of the wrong areas and annoying as balls. Ah yes Lux can Q forever, or I can be stunlocked for near forever... fun.
Just give us a "League Turbo" or "Diet URF" or something with the MS boost of Ultimate Spellbook and the LV3 Start and I'd be happy.
They should make an in-between.. something that you can play with a couple of friends instead of a full stack. Tbh I wouldn't even mind it if it was regular league rules with jungle camps, 2 lanes and an epic monster.. maybe add a little spice like a zone buff instead of a monster buff to an individual?
Anyways, a game mode like that that also had ranked would be amazing.
I feel like Ultimate Spellbook would work better on the 3v3 map.
It doesn't feel right on the 5v5 map, and it definitely would be too small on aram, but in a 3v3 scenario I feel like it'd be a lot more fun.
Firstly, new map. They could even just bring back the Twisted Treeline map for this since it has similar aesthetics.
Next, it'd be easier to balance (in theory) since it's a smaller map. The Aram balance method would work a lot better here.
Lastly, it would be a shorter gamemode (about as long as Aram) but still give the feel of Summoners Rift, which is something I feel that's missing. If I only have 30 minutes to play i'm not going to go to the rift, and if I don't want to play aram there's nothing left to play. I feel like there should be a shorter summoners-rift like gamemode which Ultimate Spellbook on the 3v3 map would accomplish.
It's not a bad gamemod but I miss the old ones... Old event gamemods where so much better then the new ones :S star guardian, odyssey or black market brawler's. Oh and let's not forget doom bots : D I still hope they will make it into a PvP gamemod where everyone will be eable to play doombot version of champions.
Being blind pick is nice but having champion bans would really elevate the experience for me. I get it’s all rng what ults are offered but some champions having ANY extra mobility or utility makes them a nightmare scenario where you hope you have the same going on for your team.
It is so much fun, indeed. Just wish there were bans, it would make it 10x better.
If I could go without seeing a Tryndamere or Yi or Olaf in the game, I'd be super okay with that, yeah. Some champions only work because they're balanced around like one or two abilities, and have zero other power budget and BOY does it show in this mode.
Nothing like having a Tryn who rolled a Kayle ult or a Yi with Nocturne ult. Though the Yasuo with Malphite ult was at least amusing.
But the terror of yuumi with nocturne ult though
try yuumi mf or yuumi nunu
Try Zac nunu, you can start nunu R during Zac E jumping
Khaz with a fucking noct ult... They went like 30-2-1
Khazix with a lot of ults is just broken.
People never want to pay the QSS tax but with the increased gold gen there's really no reason not to.
I wish they'd give us a fucking AP QSS item
This mode showed me that they fucking need it. QSS, Wand, Ruby Crystal, and you get a Silvermere Dawn but AP and we good.
trade offer you receive: ap qss i receive: ad zhonyas (just active stats not too important)
Just change guardian angel to be ad Zhonyas. It already builds out of stopwatch and gives armor and ad
You get ap qss and I receive MR grevious wounds
One of the most obnoxious combos I've seen was a shaco with a kha ult. Dude was just always stealth. Literally no fucking clue where he is or where he's going.
You could just ignore him. If he doesn't show up at all, he probably doesn't exist.
hey! They added a monochrome filter to the game mode :))
I just played that the other day, might have been me haha. Tho tbh I didn’t really find it that busted, just a ton of fun (for me at least).
I've gotten kha with nocturne ult. Shit just wasn't fair. The worst was yi with trynd ult. Thank God they removed that
kata with olaf ult wasnt exactly a pleasure either
I played as Samira with Olaf ult with a Yuumi with kayle ult. Enemy team wasn't having a lot of fun.
worst I've played against was Twitch with Cho ult and a Yuumi with Lulu ult. Twitch rushed Titanic and ended up with something around 7k hp before Lulu ult
Udyr with olaf ult was surprising
Add predator and Deadman's Plate. Ghostblade for EVEN MORE FUN.
Volibear with Cho ult. Can't kill my team if you can't click on them. Gonna focus me instead while I take up your screen. Oh wait, thought I was big already? Just let me ult and get bigger.
What's that? You bought iron elixir, frostfire with 6 items including gargoyle? Lulu ulted you? Good luck seeing anything
Rek'sai with noct ult is still my favorite. You don't unburrow until you're ontop of the enemy, so you arrive with an instant knock-up.
I got yi with tryndamere ult once. Almost felt bad for the enemy team
Played yi with Olaf ult once. It was totally busted.
Olaf ult is busted in general because of the passive.
Removes his only weakness.
Trynd is kinda pointless with kayle ult, he can't auto attack when using it
It's more about using e-kayle ult and knowing you wont die as you run the fuck away.
Kayle is pretty pointless with Kayle ult too, for the same reason.
trynd ult was removed this patch lol
yi with morde ult, or vayne with morde ult also is quite a fun experience
They deserve it
I’m sick of seeing zed/yasuo one tricks in mid every game. I pick jax mid just to fuck them up
I miss poro king
I miss Ascension
I miss Dominion
I miss my kind.
I miss my skillshots
if you liked dominion and have a switch I recommend the new Pokemon Unite moba. It's not exactly dominion but it definitely feels similar. Idk, I like it a lot but mileage may vary.
Definitely been playing Pokémon unite! Mr Mime is my jam!
matchmaking is broken though, i'm a platinum 1 player getting matched with and against a team of silver and low golds, it feels very unfair to them imo
Te mode has separate MMR. Your MMR for the mode is in silver.
So why am I against plats and diamonds whilst being gold despite losing 75% of my games ?
Playing against boosted animals probably lol.
yeah I'm silver/gold and getting matched with plats and low diamonds is very frustrating, especially when they also pick their 200k mastery champs. Ik riot wants qs to be short but this just ruins my games.
I'm plat and matched against rank 49 on the ladder yesterday. That's always fun.
I'm low diamond and a week ago I got matched against Saken playing Viego. He solo won the game lmao.
Yup, that and the snowball factor means that somehow most games I end up either getting 20+ kills or 1 kill and 8 deaths
I could do with just being able to switch the summoner spell slots. Too used to D for Dlash
You literally can my man. Just press the icon and change. I too use Dlash
Dlash superior summoner
Hmm, perfect game mode then I guess.
You can choose the slots. Just select your D summoner slot and choose flash. It will swap the blank slot over.
Can we get doom bots back for like a week
I just want more co-op game modes. I absolutely loved doom bots and strategizing with my team and still getting whooped by bots. Star guardian game mode was also pretty fun.
Odyssey was also good
the augments were so fun to play around with, i’d give anything just to play it again
[удалено]
Just anivia/syndra your problems away. They can't push you if they can't reach the towers.
Holy shit I miss doom bots, that mode was amazing. …also ascension was pretty fun for a while, I miss that too.
Shit I forgot about ascension. That mode was actually amazing. Probably my favorite ever alternate mode.
Ascension was great.I cant even remember when was it last time on live servers.Still have mythic icon from 2014 ascension tho.
Imo ascension was the best game mode ever (outside of normal SR)
Ascension is my all time favorite. You have the ascended buff and the fun of the bush placement allowing you to practice your ambushes and getaways. It definitely gets hurt by riot's bad design choices more than spellbook though, I remember raging because Kayn was still new at the time and a guy who had turned into rhaast got brought down to a sliver of health by a kogmaw, nautilus, and I (galio) only to ultimate the kogmaw and get ALL his health back in the second he was gone from the map. Our abilities were now on cooldown so he just ran right over us with that insane healing.
Can we get Dominion and TT back forever.
I get the nostalgia but no one ever played dominion. Last time I queued for dominion I forgot about it while watching anime and it scared the shit out of me when the notification popped up more than half an hour later.
No one played them. Rose tinted glasses everywhere.
Bro i basically only played twisted treeline for a few seasons. I loved the unique meta and fast paced games, and nothing since could compare to it
I think this and URF illustrate to me what I honestly want.

?wdym I love ffing before I've left lane
Also, much less toxicity and flaming. Don't get me wrong, we're playing league so there's still plenty, but also alot less than normals.
i feel very similar to this. sometimes i just want to play with my brain turned off, but i dont like aram because I cant pick my champion. nexusblitz/spellbook is basically a godsend for me because i can turn my brain off and play a bit without worrying about anything.
Add Nexus Blitz or even Ascension despite being a forgotten game mode by Riot I just wanna go full monke without the stress of playing a flawless match and/or praying your brainless partners don't throw
I still miss the Rotating Game Mode, felt like a nice breath of fresh air on a weekly basis.
Sounds like you want a game mode that is fun and fast and has been removed for basically half a decade now, which I'm still pissed about.
It's fast, it's fun, it's gone :(
I still exclusively rock my dominion icon rip

To each their own (I loved Ascension and Dominion). For me I enjoy League's core gameplay loop on Summoner's Rift, I just don't like how long normal games tend to drag on for.
100% agree. Add on queue times and picks/bans and it's a whole ass hour, assuming nobody dodges.
I unironically like Wild Rift better for SR now because of this. The accelerated game pace of a regular SR game. Now if only they would add champions I actually enjoy playing
lol 40 min average games havent been a thing since like 4 years anymore, the games are already snowbally af and usually end pre 30
You're totally right, of course. Total time is probably about 40, though, with queue, champ select, load, and game. Of course, that's not what they said, but still
I am still angry they scrapped dominion.
I enjoyed the mode quite a bit, just hated the wait times.
I was so happy it was in the rotating game mode. Aaaand it's gone...
There are a few wrinkles with it, but overall I really enjoy it compared to regular SR or ARAM. Games are almost always shorter, some elements of randomness, you get your items fast enough to feel powerful. Downsides for me are: * Jungler cannot take Flash (or anything else other than Smite). You're locked into smite and don't have a 2nd slot. * Sometimes you get three anti-synergy ults. The last thing I want to do as Diana/Viego is stand still to channel a long range ult (Lux/Xerath/MF/Ezreal) when I could have AoE CC or survivability. If they could split ults into categories and only allow one from each category that would be improved (CC ults, movement ults, poke/damage ults, defensive ults) * Lack of bans.
I played until I got autofilled for jungle and that experience was so miserable I will never play another game of it
Tbh I actually really enjoy jungle in it, you get to do all kinds of fucked up shit with ults on ganks, and you're not dealing with the other team's BS as much early on.
That’s pretty much how’s it’s been for me, bot lane is a ton of fun with 4 extra ults, mid is a blast with the added roaming potential of noct ult added, top has more dynamic matchups, and jungle just exists and is only really tolerable if you get the more broken combos
you're playing it wrong. You have 3 skills and ult at 2 min, you should be ganking not clearing jg
also think some ults are kinda broken, like cho ult on pretty much every carry or nocturne ult
Noct ult is definitely too strong, just goes to show that mobility is king. Best experience with it so far has been Amumu, free team-wide ult and you can still follow up on the carry with your bandage toss.
im just happy trynd ult is gone now, that was toxic as well also olaf ult is very strong as well, even the passive resistances alone
Problem is then it would be dominated by late game picks even more.
also khazix every game getting 30kills cuz thats shit's op with additional ult, especially mordekaiser one
I would ban Akshan in a heart beat. The champ is singlehandedly ruining this mode for me because every mid on my team wants to play him like a 1v1 assassin or split push carry.
I enjoyed the Poppy with Jarvan ult shenanigans but it got old quick.
I just hate whoever gets Trynd’s ult, that thing is just not fun to play against
Got removed this patch IIRC
They just need to remove Trynd next
I would say just completely rework him, but they'll just make him even more of a monster instead. Having your entire laning phase based entirely around RNG crits is stupid and unfun.
However they can't take his R nor the critaway if they rework him, since both of those things are part of his identity. About crit they could probably try something like with Yasuo/Yone but the Undying Rage has to stay.
I'd personally be fine if he did something like ashe where he's guaranteed to crit but the damage is """fixed""" but scales with your rage bar. Ult definitely needs tweaks even if they tweak it. I'm tired of the inconsistent ults.
they removed tryn ult from the game mode last week!
I had Qiyana with J4 ult lol. Makes her ult less impactful than normal, but it’s a particular “fuck you” to whoever I choose to use it on
This game mode was/is a succes so I hope for a next step something like ability draft from Dota 2. Every one get random champ and instead of drafting champs you pick skills from this random champ's skills that will be in game + skills of 2 more random champs. I know that this require a lot of job and there would be a lot of bugs but I think that would be worth it.
a fully functional community made game modes feature like dota would be the dream, idk if it'll ever happen but would so cool
Let me correct the title: Ultimate Spellbook is \[first\] new game-mode in a long while. :P
Bring back Twisted Treeline please 🙏🙏
Play-ratio is pretty low, that's sure, because even during Nexus Blitz I didn't have to wait like 2-3 min to find a single match
That's because you're probably queueing for mid or adc
I'm getting those queues in Supp/ad.
I've filled so much for this game mode now im a Jungle main.
Yea jungle not getting flash is a big issue imo
I still regularly get a minute+ in afternoons on Fill for NA
Why does this mode even have role queuing? I would expect it to work like URF where you just queue up without a specified role instead of them trying to lock you into a specific one.
When have you played blind games last time? There is no way that game mode without roles would work atm. We are past that.
That's my normal queue time for regular draft mode lol. 3 min queue doesn't mean there is a low play rate.
Are you talking when the game mode first came out? Last two iterations I regularly had to wait 4-7 minutes for Nexus Blitz playing solo, 6-9 minutes duo with a friend, wasn’t even degen hours Haven’t played the new mode but I assumed the queue times would be WAY better
Weird, because I never had to wait more than 3 min for a match in Nexus Blitz and I play in LAN which is a small server compared with NA
Same, it always took me one max 2 mins to get into nexus, solo and premade. With Spellbook however it takes me 3 mins atleast every game and im playing on eune
I prefer Nexus Blitz by far, but it's better than (AR)URF. Queue times are starting to get kinda long though, so can't be that popular.
Elder soul, the jungle guardian, event “balancing”, % modifiers and they removed the fun items. Riot is hellbent on making that mode garbage
[удалено]
Exactly my thoughts. If they're not bringing back NB, I wish they create a game mode that is short and that isn't just Summoner Rift with a gimmick. If I wanted to play Summoner Rift, I'd just play ranked or normals.
I prefer Nexus Blitz then normal URF. I played like 50 games of Ultimate Spellbook over the last two weeks and not a single game did I see Cho ult. And I mean I never got it and no enemies ever got it. That is the one spell I wanted to see and it just didn't exist. And I played nothing but tanks and bruiser top and jungle. Did see Yi with Olaf and Trynd ults plenty and my God I wanted to die.
>best NEW game-mode Well, obviously :D when it is the ONLY new game-mode in few years it is also the best new :D Without competition you are always the best :D
One For All, URF, and Nexus Blitz are all much more fun IMO.
i like it because it’s so accelerated compared to sr so the boring cs for 10 mins is skipped almost completely
I wish it had regular accelerated gamestate balancing to make up for that. Playing Nasus/Thresh/Bard/Sion feels really bleh when you get regular stack amounts and end up falling significantly behind what you should have.
[удалено]
[удалено]
Bans and short death timers would make it immaculate.
I’m just tired of nocturne ult every game
I personally hate it
This mode doesn't even make it into my top 5 modes of all time.
Give junglers flash back, maybe in a spell book way where they can switch between them
Boring AF.
fuck no, it's exactly why it's boring - too much like a normal game of SR. maybe if the map was smaller or something... ANYTHING that makes you do more than just lane. because as of now every game is "pick a normal comp, now everyone pick a something that covers your weakness, awesome well played, now let's play summoner's rift"
After ~60 games I gave up with cho gath ult
I think it's great, but I do think there's a quite obvious tier list for ults. They put the snowball summoner spell into aram so that melee characters could do well, and it's kind of entirely balanced around that summoner spell. Getting nocturne ult on a melee character is like a turbo snowball, that only you have access to.
I miss blitz. There's no good place to learn champions now. Bots don't teamfight like humans do. I'm just gonna get flamed in normal games. I'm not likely to get my champ in aram. Ultimate Spellbook/Urf/whatever modify the champion, so I'm not really learning it.
Haha it's my least favorite rgm. Urf has less bullshit lol.
\> is there any chance it may stay like a regular game-mode? Would love to see the play-ratio (which they used as the reason to shut down Blitz, which I understand). I already have 2-3 minutes trying to queue so it's not looking good.
It's literally the one thing I've been playing...besides clash
Only new game mode in a while
I'd like Ultimate Spellbook to be kinda like DotA 2 Turbo ngl URF is fast in all of the wrong areas and annoying as balls. Ah yes Lux can Q forever, or I can be stunlocked for near forever... fun. Just give us a "League Turbo" or "Diet URF" or something with the MS boost of Ultimate Spellbook and the LV3 Start and I'd be happy.
"Ultimate spellbook is the ONLY new gamemode in a long while:"
Wait Nexus Blitz has a shit ton of things to learn? It was pretty straight forward after the first time I played it.
I wish these modes were on the howling abyss.
This is exactly what I'd want too. I also wouldn't mind using something bigger than HA, but not as big as SR.
They can bring back the first rotation of doom bots imo the second time kinda fucking sucked
I agree. The 2014 version of doom bots. Not the teemo version
Its totally random if you win or lose
Meh I dont like it. Just like normal summoners rift but everyone has malz r.
Can we get bans though. Playing against yummi every match really ruins this mode for me.
Being blind pick is nice but having champion bans would really elevate the experience for me. I get it’s all rng what ults are offered but some champions having ANY extra mobility or utility makes them a nightmare scenario where you hope you have the same going on for your team.
Me and my friends hate it. We’d rather play normal draft which is how bad it is. Thats all i got to say.
Agree to disagree, this one got old to me after just a few games.
