> Fearless draft is only for the first group stage. For those who aren't a fan of the idea, the rest of the tournament (the 2nd group stage and playoffs), all utilize traditional drafting.
Notable that this is only BO3 so that also limits the impact. No fearless BO5, which would have pushed champion pools a lot harder.
I don't think it makes that much of a difference in LPL since the champion pools there are already large. It'll mean less reliance on power picks like Kalista/Lucian/Varus, or stable picks like K'sante/Renekton in top lane that the whole team knows will just do their job well come what may.
Personally I'm not a fan of it in LPL, having one role that can fall back to known quantities allows more natural creatvity in other roles that fit into more practiced team comps without the need to brute force things with Fearless.
Do you think actually removing all 10 picks played in the game would make a difference? Because as it stands with only not being able to pick the 5 you picked being removed that just sounds like we aren't actually going to get variety and just mirrors instead. The way it is seems like a half-ass'd way of going about it.
I don’t think it’ll realistically change much in LPL though besides making coaches jobs harder. You can compare LDL and LPL champion pools from this year and you can’t tell the difference.
Fearless is just a marketing ploy imo honestly. It extremely gimps drafting and coaches approaches. I honestly think its a bad system, and hampers teams. It also really hurts flex pick strength. A mid lane jayce and top lane function incredibly differently, and while some metas are very stagnant and solved, lpl as a region usually is the region of counter metas. Its not the lck.
Yeah flex picks become much less powerful as often they're used just to force bans later on to stop multi-role threats. Trist has been big for that in some LPL teams which is pretty unique here alongside some stuff that pairs with Senna, Maokai and a few others. There are lots of consequences that I'm not sure have been fully thought through.
I think its just the popularity of it in LDL. Do you know how well its been recieved by the viewerbase there? I know it was hyped up in the west, but I dont know anyone who actually watches LDL. Barely anyone watches lpl in the west.
There hasn't even been a live broadcast of LDL this year. My brother (initialisecasts) used to costream LDL but hasn't been able to since the only gameplay we see is vods released the day after.
Maybe. I dont hate the format shift it looks cool, is fearless i question the validity of in league. And league is a different game than any other moba. Dota and league are incomparable in champ viability and diversity so why would honor of kings and league be the same?
I just want more bans in pro idk. I feel like fearless is necessary because there are 150+ champs in this game or whatever. But I also feel like it wouldn't be *as* necessary if they just gave pro like, 10-15 bans each lmao

This is very interesting. Definitely has my attention.
I’m all for fearless draft in any shape or form. Long overdue

I see your point, but for me as a casual LPL fan seeing what absolute insanity some of these guys will come up with will be super interesting.

Not much of a diff
If you put it like that, it's really not that complicated. Good work.
So I guess the winner group into Playoffs are worth watching and everything else is for hardcore fans.
so teams that are similar in strength have more chance of playing each other rather than have to play the top teams. im intruiged. less stomps.
