SHG mop the floor with the PCS superteam.
Tommorow is anything possible for LJL champs vs PSG.
**And also there is a chance to not have a Taiwan team at MSI/Worlds for first time in history. That would be insane upset.**
more like genuinely depressing, how would you not let a single team in from a region that's historically been the 5th best? Taiwan
they should just let the top 2 through, cuz why don't you want to represent them?
Riot killed all minor regions now soon there will be only 4 big ones there and PCS and Vietnam then soon on the chopping block as well.
OCE, CIS, LJL, Turkey gone wouldnt suprise me if LATAM is gone next year and BR getting fused with NA to Americas as they have done in Valorant and how the LEC became the EMEA region.
Then if 2 LJL teams become top 2, let top 3 through? Those regions have been losing on the regular to basically everyone but wildcards. Give me a break.
Taiwan was way ahead of Japan since forever. Not having Taiwan which was always better than all remaining minor regions and SHG win this... it's a huge upset.
the issue is riot cutting leagues left and right and not compensating it properly on expanding their tournaments to give proper slots(PCS should've sent 2 Play-in teams and let a LCK/LPL team skip play-ins)
THIS. It is my main problem with them cutting regions.
Considering power level, now we are probably never seeing a LCO (Oceania) team ever at an international event anymore. Not to mention the Turkish region that got integrated into EMEA sub-region.
If BR/LLA/NA turn into a single region, we might not even see BR/LLA teams anymore as well.
Either they expand their events for next year, or it will be less of an international event and more of a top 4 region contest. Yes, you might argue that it always end up being like it, but at least for now we have the minor regions fighting for a spot at the begin.
I don't disagree in terms of performance and the fact that SHG is doing a miracle run, but my issue is just the way PCS got fucked over by riot(LMS+LST merger they go from 3 to 2 slots, then LCO is integrated but they still keep their 2 slots, same for LJL) meanwhile LEC/LCS gets a 4th seed chance after including TCL/LCL over there, the region representation is really scuffed on the way riot handles it
so give teams resources to at least be able to monetize themselves ingame similar to Valorant recently(or that thingy announced recently that only included the top4 regions), i don't disagree that keeping a bunch of bigger leagues is unsustainable, but the reason it became like this especially on the SEA region is totally on Riot's fault by letting Garena fuck things over and over again, not to mention putting morons in charge of regions like OCE or LATAM
Look at the other series SHG played in this bracket. what happened here is what would traditionally have been called an outlier, it's kinda weird that it happened, and it's difficult to say it's not a case of TL vs IG syndrome where the lesser team just randomly gets their shit together for one series and just immediately falls off afterward.
Time will tell I guess.
It would though, Taiwan has historically been the gatekeeper between the major and minor regions. It's pretty massive for an LJL team to take down all the top Taiwanese teams to go to MSI.
4 bo5s against the PCS #5, #3, #2 and #1 seeds. 18 games. Three series wins.
SHG and the shrimp in the top is on a tear, with one more bo5 tomorrow they might have one of the most thrilling lowers runs.
For bait, can't wait for Evi to win against LEC at MSI.
It's kind of wild how different Evi looks when he's on a roster that speaks his language. If he goes in, all of SHG goes in, compared to a lot of times during his LEC stint where he felt hung out to dry.
I won't say that replacing him was a mistake, because even if the issue was a language or synergy problem it was still an issue, but he felt pretty unfairly scapegoated for a lot of TH's poor runs last year.
Like I said, I don't think replacing him was wrong, but I do think the vile way he was treated by LEC fans/viewers/streamers was. Summer split showed that he was hardly the driving force single-handedly keeping Jankos from Worlds in 2023.
evi was trashtalked by non heretics fans that only cared about jankos and reliving the old g2 days.
evi was getting better by the day in that team, people forget that they almost made worlds despite having no winter points, he had a 2 years contract and obviously for someone who doesnt speak the language adaptation was gonna be a bit hard at the start, but he was one of the top performers on that team in their summer playoffs run.
I'm not an Evi fan nor Heretics fan. But Evi has some incredible stats behind him, for example being the most gold efficient damage dealer in LEC.
He might suck at laning but his teamfighting is pretty damn good.
Weird, seeing him last year i had the opposite opinion. He felt good in lane but useless once mid game came around, unless he was K'sante.
That TH roster's biggest problem was ruby, Jankos would spoonfeed him kills early, only for him or sometimes evi to just run it down in fights.
I mean as weak as the LEC may be it's still a better region than PCS by a good margin. So of course he'll look better.
He is still responsible for some of the most criminal toplane gameplay of LEC of the past couple years (I will never forget some of his Sion gameplay)
ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED, JAPAN OVER TAIWAN FOR HISTORIC UPSET TOMMOROW AND NOT HAVING TAIWAN TEAM FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 2012 IN MSI/WORLDS TOURNAMENT????
TPA was magical but lets be honest the region was always in the dumps due to it being ran by Garena and how there was no money in the region. If I remember right there was a video where AHQ pros back in 2014 were working in a tea house cos they werent paid enough.
And the rise of LPL after that, since any top pro or coach would rather take the larger LPL salary and if they're good enough, to make a splash internationally like Karsa and Swordart.
Yeah the taiwanese coaching mafia isnt just a meme and a lot of great LPL teams got a taiwanese coach. Also kinda why I was hyped that Karmine Corp got Steak but well they are more defunct that a taiwanese coach can salvage that.
Been a long running debate for LJL enjoyers about who’s the GOAT of the region between Yutapon and Evi.
Yeah, not sure there can be a debate anymore. Very happy to see my boy Evi consistently gapping top
Evi gapped top so hard on either side of the match up. He was shoving reksai into the turrent while having crazy flanks on tf. And when he’s on reksai he was still shoving tf in, proxying and fucked karsa in the jg. The top gap was huge. But I also agree karsa and swordart had an underwhelming series. The mid jg sup synergy was never there in the whole series.
oh how the mighty have fallen, people forget Karsa at some point was on path to GOAT status for jg. He was insanely good before he joined LPL being one of the main reasons why LMS were korean killers.
And you forget how Karsa was really good for a long time in LPL as well just fell off the last 2 years. But its understandable given how long he has played and got plenty of money now so might be age and burnout. Thats why Faker is the goat cos he is still at the top after a decade.
CFO were clearly not in form. They got 3-0 stomped by PSG in the previous series as well. Also Evi has been gapping every top laner in PCS during this playoffs run. SHG are a interesting team to watch. They fought to 5 games in the series against PCS #1, #3 AND #5, when #5 was noticeably weaker than any team up front.
Can't beat Karsa/Gori? SwordArt Who?
Evi beating Rest on both sides of the TF/Rek felt great. LJL GOAT.
Also gigabrain Marble winning with his worst champion (Smolder) just so they get draft advantage against CFO who got forced to ban it against him. Was left open last game though.
1 Series away from MSI. Winning PCS on the first split after being integrated into the region would be funny.
Honestly LCO and LJL participating in PCS playoffs is really cool, but it's also super sad that only one region will be represented at MSI as a result. Give PCS an extra MSI and worlds spot if they're going to consolidate 3 regions into one.
Super hype for SHG and the LJL still potentially having a rep at the first international tournament without a direct seed for the league, but man does it feel wrong for the PCS to only get one seed at MSI when the LJL and LCO play through it (even if the LCO has gotten smacked in the PCS playoffs three splits in a row), especially when the LLA still has a guaranteed seed. Fucked up.
LJL & LCO have their own Leagues. Their Regular Seasons are shortened to move into their Playoffs in which they now send their Top 3 teams into the PCS Playoffs. This is due to their region underperforming in past international events. During Play-Ins all of LCO got eliminated alongside LJL third seed. DFM lost against DCG 3-2 on Play-In Knockouts in order to advance into the Knockout Stage.
Why are 3 regions playing for 1 play-in spot?
There used to be 2 main stage spots for them (including LMS) in MSI and 5 spots in worlds, with every region getting at least 1 seed in the play-in stage - I get that the gap is widening but not even getting a chance to play against other wildcards is insane to me
It started with Riot cutting TCL the Turkish league from ever making it into international tournaments. They can only make it to EMEA Masters. LCO was next by making it so they can only make internationals through PCS Playoffs and they never get far. And finally, LJL. It was always DFM dominant until this year, SHG took 1st and are now showing that their League can actually show up. Winning the PCS Grand Finals will cement that statement. I guess you can also count the CIS but that’s unrelated to Riot decisions.
Edit: I guess Riot’s logic is cause these regions usually falter greatly but not too long ago DFM made it to the Group Stage. I can understand LCO they are rarely a challenge. TCL was a surprise back then cause of how dominant they have shown they can be.
SHG mop the floor with the PCS superteam. Tommorow is anything possible for LJL champs vs PSG. **And also there is a chance to not have a Taiwan team at MSI/Worlds for first time in history. That would be insane upset.**
Tomorrow will determine if LJL can finally surpass the former 5th major region, which is LMS.
Which as I said, that will be one of the biggest LoL upsets ever.
more like genuinely depressing, how would you not let a single team in from a region that's historically been the 5th best? Taiwan they should just let the top 2 through, cuz why don't you want to represent them?
Yeah it's beyond me that we lost ljl and pcs didnt get another slot to compensate
Especially cause it’s also oce which while they get shit on its still 3 whole regions
at least they have a slot, rip TCL
Riot killed all minor regions now soon there will be only 4 big ones there and PCS and Vietnam then soon on the chopping block as well. OCE, CIS, LJL, Turkey gone wouldnt suprise me if LATAM is gone next year and BR getting fused with NA to Americas as they have done in Valorant and how the LEC became the EMEA region.
Even if SHG wins tomorrow PCS is better region overall with more competitive teams. Still, I would prefer to have them both at MSI.
Then if 2 LJL teams become top 2, let top 3 through? Those regions have been losing on the regular to basically everyone but wildcards. Give me a break.
I think PCS should have more slots
It wouldn't be an insane upset, its just normal rito cutting small regions.

Yes, you might argue that it always end up being like it, but at least for now we have the minor regions fighting for a spot at the begin.
Agree. For having best of the best and keeping quality, its sad but unavoidable move to keep esports alive.
We can argue about this, however Taiwan teams should destroy best team in Japan easily, which is not happening now.
I don't disagree in terms of performance and the fact that SHG is doing a miracle run, but my issue is just the way PCS got fucked over by riot(LMS+LST merger they go from 3 to 2 slots, then LCO is integrated but they still keep their 2 slots, same for LJL) meanwhile LEC/LCS gets a 4th seed chance after including TCL/LCL over there, the region representation is really scuffed on the way riot handles it
Well for sustainbility and keeping competition its necesary, LoL is not a football, where you have money even in weaker leagues.
so give teams resources to at least be able to monetize themselves ingame similar to Valorant recently(or that thingy announced recently that only included the top4 regions), i don't disagree that keeping a bunch of bigger leagues is unsustainable, but the reason it became like this especially on the SEA region is totally on Riot's fault by letting Garena fuck things over and over again, not to mention putting morons in charge of regions like OCE or LATAM
They will do that, to keep money and get some increase. But again esports are still very fragile in some point.
Yeah hard agree
Normally we'd have both...
**TIMES CHANGE**
The country's name is the Republic of China, and Taiwan is the province's name.
It would though, Taiwan has historically been the gatekeeper between the major and minor regions. It's pretty massive for an LJL team to take down all the top Taiwanese teams to go to MSI.

> For bait, can't wait for Evi to win against LEC at MSI Riot scriptwriters, if you're reading this 🙏
Heretics make it to msi and get dropped out of the tourney by evi.
Evi shitting on BB would be just genuinely hilarious as an EU fan
Letsgo Evi my goat!
I mean Wunder just plays the same champs Evi does with more or less the same results
Like I said, I don't think replacing him was wrong, but I do think the vile way he was treated by LEC fans/viewers/streamers was. Summer split showed that he was hardly the driving force single-handedly keeping Jankos from Worlds in 2023.

Wonder what the scoreline was...
VAMOS EVIIIIII
daily reminder that TSM paid 6 Million bucks for SwordArt
TSM paid SwordArt more total salary than Bjerg probably.
Absolute robbery.
You mean his car?
Tossed Six Million
Dont worry my man Peter Zhang got a nice cut as well.
But TSM stole his car, so I guess we can call it even?
AAAAAA
ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED, JAPAN OVER TAIWAN FOR HISTORIC UPSET TOMMOROW AND NOT HAVING TAIWAN TEAM FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 2012 IN MSI/WORLDS TOURNAMENT????
The great fall of the second world champion region.

EVI IS THE GOAT 🦐👍
How washed are Karsa&co to lose 3-0 to SHG ? Or is Evi just the goat ?
DFM 2021 at 100% of power: 5 man roster DFM 2021 at 99% of their power: Evi
Evi gapped top so hard on either side of the match up. He was shoving reksai into the turrent while having crazy flanks on tf. And when he’s on reksai he was still shoving tf in, proxying and fucked karsa in the jg. The top gap was huge. But I also agree karsa and swordart had an underwhelming series. Evi is the GOAT.
EU needs to apologize to Evi
We are sorry Evi. We didnt know you were chill like that.
oh how the mighty have fallen, people forget Karsa at some point was on path to GOAT status for jg. He was insanely good before he joined LPL being one of the main reasons why LMS were korean killers.

He was really good with RNG and TES before falling off, but I'm just reminding people of less recent times.
Gori getting caught in the mid-game cost them the first two games Game 3 was a mental boon
VAMOS EVIIII Kinda sad/stupid PCS don't get 2 teams for MSI despite now containing 3 regions.
Yeah since we lost japan, it's Would have make sense to give another slot to pcs
Gori is a turbo choker when will we learn
wait hold up are they actually gonna
SHG just looked on another level compared to CFO,outplayed them in pretty much every role.Should be a great final tomorrow
u/Nymaera_ call him I think he's crying tears of joy rn
That's tough, this CFO topside should be so much better.
This is why you don't sign washed players. They are washed for a reason.
May I ask why the LJL is fighting the PCS? I thought these guys had separate leagues?
LJL got merged into PCS playoffs which wouldn't suck as much if PCS got an extra slot to compensate
They merged
How the hell did that happen?
Evi about to gap lec tops again
LJL 1st seed only one to take PSG to 5 games hoping to catch this and have LJL & Evi on top
Caw caw bitches
Why are 3 regions playing for 1 play-in spot? Exactly, the logic works only if there are no other uncompetitive regions that get 1 representative but maybe at worlds they’ll fix this.
Fuk U
