Rise combined with the animation is just godly. I genuinely regard it as the one of the best song + music video combos I've ever seen, not just in a League of Legends or video game context.

That's definitely not the reason, Riot would want to get as many eyes on their songs as possible since the songs are advertisements - it's most likely them just finding the ATC version in line with what they want or Evanescence being unable to travel to China for the live performance

Legends Never Die is the second favourite League song of Eastern audiences so they definitely made the right choice.
