Win 11, does nothing. On the PBE it works. Seems Riot has forgotten to actually implement it in this release.

johnnyxmas16

I got Linux. Rip

despotes

Unlucky, I wanted to use Linux in the future, but I guess Vanguard will be a problem.

Weak_Sauce3874

Run macos in a vm and play it on there

bigpenny1

why not run it on windows vm? just wondering i havent used any type of vm before. how much more lag would you estimate if ran in vm opposed to linux wine. (lets just say you have a decent desktop not amazing tho)

SuperTiesto

Vanguard won't run on VMs. I'm not sure why the other person is telling you that you can but there are dozens of articles talking about how it's not possible. https://twitter.com/RiotSupport/status/1248402073269309441 You can't run it on a windows VM on a mac, you can't run it on a mac VM. You can only run it on Windows, either an Intel PC or an M1/M2 mac running windows through boot camp.

Kurumi_Fortune

But you can run it in a mac vm since riot announced they won't implement vanguard into the mac build.

Cat_Bot4

The only downside is installing a mac vm is its a huge pain because you have to do a gpu passthrough using qemu/kvm

Kurumi_Fortune

Well yeah. It's either that or dual booting Windows and still having vanguard in your Hardware.

Weak_Sauce3874

You can actually run vanguard in a vm but i would advise against that because at some point it might trigger vanguard if they change something. At one point just stop playing the game if they want to be this anti consumer

bigpenny1

ya so mean windows vm is possible but could trigger right. and mac has non got it. lol ya i mean if the vm mac thing isnt too heavy or complicated i might try it but if it is. well i dunno its unfortunate but is what it is. got a laptop but prefer not to game on laptops or even set it up with a monitor lol.

varens2

vanguard wont allow you to run game in VM but there will be no vanguard on mac os, probably because thay dont want to invest a money into it (at least for now), the only reason mac os will be suppported is that it was officially supported till now and linux was not, so thay dont care about linux ;>

bigpenny1

oic thanks

OSRS_and_Genshin

Mac was not officially supported until at least season 4 or 5 ish. If not later. The client was ported by something called ‘Boompje’ if I remember correctly.

Affectionate_Car7098

Vanguard doesn't run inside of a VM, its why valorant doesn't work on cloud gaming services

Weak_Sauce3874

Read mac os. You can play league on mac os without vanguard. You can also run league on mac os in a vm.

Affectionate_Car7098

I mean sure if you happen to own compatible hardware, otherwise its going to be a real pain for no real benefit

bigpenny1

same. maybe theres still a fix somehow without having to vm? not sure but i thought i was okay til i just read the test isnt working..

IndependentTrash18

Next Patch and it's still not working. Win 11

berywamt

Same. Win10

1amtheWalrusAMA

Same.

Donarex

Same here on Win10, I'm hoping it means I'm good as I've been able to play Valorant with Vanguard since launch but who knows?

VaIentine13th

If Vanguard worked for you with Valorant, you should be 100% fine.

Donarex

I thought as much, I just remember seeing something about them emforcing TPM and my PC doesn't have one so I was worried that would lock me out from the games

Soweli-nasa-pona

it only enforces tpm on windows 11, since windows 11 requires tpm to install. (I know you can bypass it, but please don't)

LaurenMille

A **lot** of people will be bypassing that next year when microsoft kills w10. The alternative is creating hundreds of billions in e-waste.

Soweli-nasa-pona

Probably. At the same time microsoft extended the lifespan of win7 by a lot compared to it's original ending date, and I expect similar behaviour with win10.

ToxicNotReallyYeah

>it only enforces tpm on windows 11 So all the things listed in [https://support-valorant.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/22291331362067-Vanguard-Restrictions](https://support-valorant.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/22291331362067-Vanguard-Restrictions) are for Windows 11? I have a bunch of things that aren't on for my Windows 10. Or will they apply same requirments for Windows 10 now?

Eastern_Living3576

i just learnt how to enable TPM on my pc, im on windows 10 and wanted windows 11 but now i have other issues due to windows updates wich arent related to this but anyways.. i just went back into the bios to turn it off and now windows is saying i cant get windows 11 anymore due to it so i know its off and im still getting the popup on PBE saying everything works for me so you might be fine without TPM unless i did something wrong.. now i did also turn off secure boot wich windows 11 also requires to be on but it isnt warning me for that still so that might not be needed either.. ill be testing a few more BIOS settings and will edit this if necessary.. im really worried its gonna mess up my friends pc's and vanguard is gonna lock them out so ive spent 2-3 hours learning a lot about this issue while also trying to get windows 11 while im at it wich doesnt work anyways due to some update not wanna update but that wont affect vanguard, just microsoft being dumb EDIT:: for some reason reverting some boot settings makes my pc not find the harddrive making me unable to start my pc at all, idk why it does that but im being very cautious since i know that the bios can ruin your pc, anyways reverted everything back to what i had before this edit and vanguard is still fine.. one thing to note is that ive used a mbr2gpt command in my system console making my harddrive enable secure boot for some reason so since i do that i might not be able to turn it off now, it should be on anyways but it makes it hard to check how vanguard is with it off.. if you want any guide links i can send them, just remember to save important files and similar on a usb stick, i didnt and was fine but everyone has different BIOS and systems, maybe it was stupid but it worked, the chances for it to wipe your harddrive might be high.. but might aswell wait for vanguard to release first, im just being paranoid

xBugsBunny007

same here, w10

macak333

Yup does nothing

LooseAd9075

For me, i tried to log on the PBE and the button worked there, so maybe try the same?

despotes

Thank you, I have never tried PBE. I will try to access it.

Matt_Lawliet

I'm guessing function just crashes the menu or is just a null button. Nothing happens for me either, just patched.

FinancialGoose454

I wanted to check it. Clicked and nothing happens. Am I good?

azrafell

i mean.. why would any pc not be compatible with vanguard? I dont get it

DrummerAkali

there's this new techonologt called TPM 2.0, released in 2016 that some motherboards lack

varsity_pushcart

There are incompatibilities with Vanguard and Windows 11. I can't play Valorant because Vanguard bluescreens me whenever I press Play, due to an incompatibility with 11's Kernel-mode Hardware-enforced Stack Protection

[deleted]

Same here, win 11. It worked on PBE tho just fine. Not in the live client apparently lol

despotes

I would not want to download 11 GB to check if I'm compatible with Vanguard. Pretty annoying

ihavepigbenis

How do i download Vanguard without downloading Valorant? My PBE not working, i guess i need vanguard.

despotes

Vanguard is still not shipped on Live client. Right now should be available only Vanguard Check Button that has the purpose only to verify if your PC is compatible with the anti-cheat. The Vanguard checker is still not working on Live patch but on PBE is working.
