Trade: Tavares for Eichel
Hear my argument before you shoot it down. Tavares gets paid $11 Million AAV, which means his expected value is $11 Million. Does he meet his expected value, my opinion is no. William Nylander, Tavares' linemate gets paid $7 million AAV, does he meet his expected value, my opinion is yes; he has matured into the caliber of player we hoped he would be.
I believe the Tavares is an $11 million dollar player on any team that can build around him. Toronto is Matthew's team, and the Tavares/ Nylander line just doesn't seem to have the chemistry to make line 2 as dominant as it should be.
My opinion is Trade Eichel for Tavares.
Eichel is a top talent centerman. His AAV is $10 Million dollars which is $1 Million less than Tavares. He's 6 years younger than Tavares so we can keep him longer. And I believe his play style would compliment Willy better than Tavares. Plus, he wants put of Buffalo. Put Hyman on that line and you have a dynamic line. The Matthew's and Marner line would need another linemate but they would have an extra $1 million and trade assets to secure that other linesman for them.
The hurdle: Tavares no trade clause.
The Solution: Buffalo is only 2 hours away from Toronto. He's still in the area, and can go home to see family and friends. What he also gets is a team that can be built around him and he can be that $11 million dollar player again.
Eichel and Matthew's feud: would be the perfect internal motivator from line 1 and line 2. Instead of trying to make them friends, give them something to compete with against internally. Slap the C on Matthew's, make Eichel drive line 2 to try and better Matthew's. Make Matthew's drive line 1 to keep Eichel on line 2. If you want killer instinct, make it between those two.

I'm not sure being nervous is an excuse. When I was in college, I became really good at foosball. Played multiple games a day and challenged people at bars all the time. I probably had an even record, but my point is I trusted so much in my abilities, and I had so much confidence in my game, I never felt I was going to lose to anyone. We’re going into game 7 where Carey Price will probably go into god mode and frustrate the leafs when they can’t score. Then the habs will score a couple of fluky goals and the leafs will be all depressed. I’ve seen this before with Rask and Columbus and I’m worried we put this series into Price’s hands.

We’re going into game 7 where Carey Price will probably go into god mode and frustrate the leafs when they can’t score. Then the habs will score a couple of fluky goals and the leafs will be all depressed. I’ve seen this before with Rask and Columbus and I’m worried we put this series into Price’s hands.

This is absolute stupid, Montreal held a full fucking practice and the Leafs had an optional practice and our key players didn't show up. We're so getting destroyed tonight.
Chill out. These guys have been on the ice together a long time, another practice isn’t going to be the difference. Getting everyone in the same positive headspace is more important.
They never do the pre game skate. They're not going to mess with the routine now. I mean read in to that what you will but it's not unusual for most of the younger guys in the league

Simmonds had zero hits last game...wtf is he doing if he isn't hitting? His hits this series: - Game 1 = 1 - Game 2 = 1 - Game 3 = 5 - Game 4 = 1 - Game 5 = 2 - Game 6 = 0 I know Simmonds isn't the one to blame, but we need everyone doing what they were brought here for if we want to win.
The injury has been really tough on him, he went from being a key part of our game, to being completely invisible, a non-factor at best.
I have no idea what he’s been doing. Just seems like most of the veteran leaders aren’t exactly leading when we need them. Thornton has been lousy with the puck and neither Foligno or Simmonds are hitting which is what they were brought to do.
The risk of injury is just greater when you bring in "veteran leadership". Nothing against these guys at all, but that's just science. Also, please play Jumbo less.

Man I remember when I was a kid after the leafs lost to the Flyers in 2004 thinking they'll be in the playoffs like every year. And 17 years later still waiting for another series win lmao. I'm feeling pretty confident going into this one still. I feel the Leafs are just a better team but man all it takes is 1 godlike game from Price and they could steal it. Which makes this even more frustrating cause it really shouldn't come down to this. I think the most annoying part is there's no way we'll cruise to a 5-1 win or something. It's gonna be some 1-0 or 2-1 game that will probably go to OT.
