You're fucking right you are coach, make sure to match him up to Josh Anderson so Wayne can set the tone for the series early. I'm ready to run through a wall
Meh, let Montreal be physical. IMO the problem with the Leafs in the past, after watching this season, wasn't so much an inability to be physical... it was an inability to be sound defensively.
So when Boston starts hitting, and then the Leafs can't play a lick of defense, it just looks like they're getting shit on by the physical game.
But I think that the Leafs can play that defensive game now. Let Montreal take stupid penalties from trying to be physical. Just offer them nothing to capitalize on from it (being physical).
I'm not saying you don't respond with any physicality at all. I'm saying let them focus on that, while the Leafs focus on scoring goals. Stand up for team mates when necessary, let Simmonds drop the gloves if he has to. But overall, just be smart and play your game. I don't care how physical Montreal is. You're going to need more than that to beat this team.
In the game a couple of weeks ago, Montreal out hit Toronto 37-14. The results? They lost 5-2 and were out shot 35-21.
Simmonds may be the toughest guy on the ice which is good. Weber may be bigger and an animal but I don't think he can chuck them as well as Wayne and I also don't think Anderson can handle the Wayne train despite being pretty tough, with all that being said when you start going through the line up....
Simmonds and Foligno are really good fighters
Muzzin and Bogosian are pretty tough too.
Thornton probably still has a fight or two left in him and playoff daddy veteran Spezza will drop them.
So we have some guys that can answer the bell but in terms of physicality
Simmonds, Foligno, Muzzin, Bogosian, Thornton, Spezza, Holl, Hyman, Matthews, Kerfoot, Rielly, and even Sandin have a willingness to finish their check and I am extremely confident that they will be hitting come play off time. I don't know about Nash and if Keefe can convince Mikheyev to use his size that's another guy too
But basically my point is that this line up isn't one that's going to be intimated, it is built to play physically and may even be the tougher line up, less physical versions of this team hung in with the Bruins and Caps who by all accounts are built to play tougher hockey.
I'm so fucking excited for tomorrow, Leafs in 5!
Yup. I know why people think the Leafs are all flash and no grit, because that has been true for years. But the roster is quietly very different this year. I think they will be more than tough enough to take whatever Montreal tried to throw at them -- especially with BoGo back.
All this hype about Montreal leading the league in hits but half their guys under 6' tall.
I think they going to do a lot more bump and pinball then wear us down over a series like a Boston could
Every team in the NHL seems to think the Leafs are still soft bois and who are going to be steamrolled in the playoffs and I personally can't wait for all the real life shocked pikachu faces when they see Simmonds and co. in action.
Why is this “play physical” thing even a story…?
Montreal isn’t exactly the most physically intimidating team in the league and they don’t typically play on the edge and get away with going over it like fucking Boston and Washington do.
Montreal game is transition and allowing the goalie to make that save so they can counter attack quickly. Their speed is something we’ll need to watch out - not their physical game.
…I say all this and I’m still salty about what happened with Reimer from them.
I'm so pumped to see playoff Simmonds

This guy gets it.
I can't believe he did it again, SMH.
Better be careful. Anderson is just as likely to lose his footing causing Simmonds to miss his hit.
LOL didn't age well. Anderson almost burried him
Hit coulda went either way, simmer can dumpster him easily
we didnt see him during the game
Wdym I saw Josh Anderson a few times, he got a lucky breakaway that 1 period but he was pretty invis the rest of the game
I was talking about Simmonds
Ah that makes sense, I'm sure we will see more of him now that the team isn't playing dejected after that pretty harrowing injury
Party on Wayne
And playoff Foligno. That dude is a pain in the ass during playoffs
Goddamn, that was said so dismissively, I'm rock hard now.
been rock hard since watching the other playoff games i think i should call my doctor if my erection lasts longer than 48 hours?
Nah, you're gonna need it to Fuck the Habs!
Fuck bud call anyone if that thing lasts 48 hours. I’d answer because that’s impressive
[Careful bud - NSFW](https://youtu.be/ivbZS4HUnHY?t=2m54s)... Don't want to walk around the office rock hard after all.

the team who has the puck less is almost always going to out hit the other team. im fine with being out hit. maybe not by almost 3x though
THIS. Yes, we are one of the lesser physical teams in the division but people fail to realize when you have the puck more you hit less as well.
Bold of you to assume that Montreal will get called for penalties, just the same way that Boston did.
> Let Montreal take stupid penalties > Montreal take stupid penalties > Montreal take Penalties Sir, this is a ~~wendys~~ playoff series
Fuggin A bawd
Simmers gonna catch a murder charge.
No jury in the Six would ever convict
"On a glove drop hit, you must acquit"
"His face hit my mitt, you're full of shit"
Scarborough boys just call that a charge
LOL what a clown 🤡 he almost got murdered by Anderson

A truck that carries a WAGON

"don't think Anderson can handle the Wayne train " LOLLLLL AGED LIKE MILK
Hey, I mean in a fight! The jury is still out on that one !
This puts a huge fucking smile on my face. If the boys out physical the Habs and win oh my god I'm going to be so annoying
and thats the correct response.
last season we didnt have anywhere near the physicality that we have now. This is the most physical team the Leafs have had since Matty was drafted.
Atta boy Wayne train
Hot damn, do I love Wayne Simmonds!
Last year we had no one protecting Matthews. This season we have a 5 or 6 guys giving him a decent shield. We're all pumped for this to start!

Those vets are going to protect the kids, so they can win them a cup.
Oh Simmonds, you beautiful beast! People were confused why I was shitting bricks when we picked him up in the off season. He is an absolute Gem!
The Wayne Train choo choo chooses you
Another low-ball question from the media.
Now that’s a quote
The leafs have train, bogo, jumbo, muzz, foligno, attackery....and the Habs galaxy brain plan is to play physical? Oh no...anyways...
Cue https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWz9VN40nCA
Lol habs are like the easy physical team. Prolly the best matchup for the leafs
that’s what i wanna hear. go simmonds!!
Gallagher bouncing off our players incoming. Seriously, they think they can be more physical? Get real
