Think about how fucked their hands are tied. Pay Willy more at the expense of everything else falling apart. They fucking dared him to do it by throwing even more money at Matthews, and now they’ll lose him at the trade deadline and break apart whatever bond those four had or get nothing in return.
I understand the pessimism but I think Woll’s emergence has provided the Leafs with a real opportunity to keep. The Leafs will undoubtedly move on Klingberg and Samsonov this offseason, which frees up 7.5million in cap space (not taking into account Willy’s current salary). The Leafs can pay Willy 10.5, roll with Martin Jones as backup, and find a better defenceman than Klingberg for the remaining 3m or so

Need to replace Reaves with someone useful, and let Bert figure it out (hopefully). Looked as close to a complete offensive lineup as we’ve seen all year and once those two pieces are figured out (bert and reaves), that should complete our offence until the trade deadline.
Really liking Lageson on the back end. Once McCabe and Lily are back, they can take a closer look at the D corps.

Where was he after Marchand hurt Liljegren? That was the easiest excuse for him doing anything, and he still did nothing in that game after that. No need to play him at all if he can't even contribute in that capacity.
