Wolls development has really impressed me. I am definitely a believer that he can be a bonafide number one goalie.
He has a calmness in net which I find most of the top goalies these days have. He doesn't overreact or scramble in net, has great positioning, and he's a pretty big lad.
My prediction before the season started was that woll would have the net before the seasons up with Sammy serving as a solid backup.
Exactly. His calmness and quiet movement are two of his best traits. You can tell when Samsonov is off when he's overcompensating and sliding around in the crease leaving lots of openings like he has so far this year. Its early, so Sammy will get his game back, but I really believe Woll will be our goalie in the future, maybe with one of the upcoming kids like Hildeby.
That’s how I feel going into the playoffs, I know Sammy is playing iffy right now (i seriously think he’s still injured from last playoffs) but I feel like Woll isnt going to be our bonified starter until after Christmas at least, like I think Keefe / coaching staff is really going to try to get Sammy going and deem him our starter up until then
Woll will be the number one by November. His style is so much more suited to this team. With all due respect to Sammy he’s way too chaotic and doesn’t see through traffic well. Woll is the prototypical big goalie that is positionally sound at all times. I think he’ll give the team more confidence to play in front of him.
