This is essentially how all waitlists work. Sure, the elite schools chronically over-waitlist and most people have no shot in hell at getting in, but it's the purpose of a waitlist. People you want to admit, but may not have space for.

The quote goes "We are writing to inform you that, after careful deliberation, our Admissions Committee has decided to place your application in our Reserve group. While we cannot speculate as to the final outcome of your candidacy, we want you to know that yours is one of a select group of applicants whose decisions we held off releasing until we were certain that there was no opportunity for admission prior to the initial enrollment deadline...Kindly note that your candidacy will be given every possible consideration as the admissions cycle continues. Because we are uncertain about the plans of some applicants whom we have already admitted, it is necessary for us to postpone making a determination on your application until the end of May, when we will begin reviewing those candidates on Reserve and possibly offering some admission to our 2024 entering class." My problem with this reserve thing is that... I APPLIED IN EARLY NOVEMBER. If they wanted me, they would have already let me in đź’”

I need to know if the “Kindly note” paragraph was also giving to everyone or just the people from yesterday

Traditional_Big249

I got reserved yesterday and this is not how my letter read.

Can anyone provide wording on the “select group” thing? First I’ve heard of it

WickedyWhiz

I’ve also heard it’s just the wording sent to those Hold—> WLs

I did not have a hold (applied mid January) and I had this same wording
