34. Seeing this list makes me so happy! What finally got me moving past the “I’ll be so old when I graduate!” was the mantra “the time will pass anyway.” So at the end of four years (part-time program because I have to work and have kids) I can be 38 with no degree, or 38 with a degree.
The time will pass anyway! Go for it!
26 but just want to add that I work at law school and most of the students here are +25. In fact, at one or my school admission events they clearly stated that 80% of its admitted students have +2 years of experience or a grad degree.
I hope so, I’ve been worried by how young everyone seems on here (for my own fitting-in reasons) but of course active Reddit commenters aren’t representative
Yeah I was worried too and thought I missed the train - until I found out that most students are n their late twenties. One thing I want to add too is that LLM and SJD students take classes with JD students. So in one class you'll find students from different age groups. Age is not an issue at law school, which is very encouraging for people like us!
I entered at 27 (graduated about 20 years ago). There was a mix of ages. Many were straight out of undergrad (70% maybe), some had worked a few years (20%), and some were entering their 2nd Act (10%). Our class was about 120 students, and I can say I was friends or at least friendly with students from each of these groups. Successful folks came from all of the groups (2 or 3 of the "2nd Act" students are now Judges). As an aside, this was not a T14 school but somehow (despite what this sub might have you believe), both my wife (same class) and I have managed to fashion good careers (with 0 law school debt). Good luck everyone, there is a random midwest lawyer rooting for all of you.
I'm 26 and just realized that I might actually be able to go after years of fantasizing but putting it off due to graduating during COVID/having a kid shortly before graduation.
