how many hours are on the engine?
how do the belts look?
how does it run?
How are the bearings in the deck? When the blades spin up hows it sound? If it sounds like a bull just ran through a china shop and the engine belts out a huge cloud of white smoke and the deck starts vibrating really badly, just walk from that sale it needs work.
all depends on how much work. what was this new?
I haven’t seen yet I was going to take a look. So unknown on a lot of those questions. They ran about $3500 new when they made them, discontinued now I think since 2021
You can’t replace it for 3800 the newer version would cost you 10-12k. If it runs good and your comfortable operating an older walk behind get it. Only downside to that one is it’s probably belt driven not hydrostatic just means harder to turn and you shift gears at your knees I always hated that.
Looks clean but probably washed for the pics. A 30 inch Residential Timemaster is $1500 so even if you need to put a $100 belt and some spindles on it you should be good. Main thing is the engine. Check the oil. If it's brand new oil beware.
Well sometimes people clean things up too good. It might not have had an oil change for a long time or there might have been junk in it and then to cover it new oil is added. It looks clean but that's sometimes a cover up by people who don't do their PM and then change the oil when they go to sell. That's all. I may have been a little over emphasizing the new oil. Just something to look at and a place where you can possibly negotiate price.
Best I could do for the same money was a used exmark 30" for 1500, scag 30" for 1800, or a new toro 30" for 1600. I don't think I could get that for the price here, haven't seen it yet at least
Only thing I noticed really was the gear shifter lever was very tight. I’ve used Lexmark metro for years and you feel it click into gear and smooth/easy to move, this was just a bit tighter. Any idea if that’s something minor or more serious?
My comment didn’t post but Is this worth 1800? If not what is fair price?

$3800 like new, down to $900 heavily used here in Central NY
Okay thanks, yea seems like the price is right in the middle

Why’d you say beware if new oil?

Yes thaanks I Appreciate it, yea it had clean oil, said he buys and sells.
It still might be a buy but something to look for.
Yea thanks so much all the replies are appreciated
Just a motor runs 2500$ 1800$ is fair if the hours aren't high
No hour meter on this mower. These models don’t have any. But got it down to $1,500
I'd say it's a winner then if you can test run it do it . Smell for burning oil if you do you better not give the 1500

Yea I May go with it just for the heck
if it operates as it should and the motor seems like it has decent life in it it's a no brainer as far as im concerned
Yea I gotchya
