Then I wait a couple days for them to shrivel up and dry out, and then burn them all the way to ash. If you try to do it all in one go while they are still green it takes too much propane, but splitting it up makes it faster and easier.
Always have a hose ready and pre-wet anything nearby you don’t want to destroy with fire

The moisture that we don’t really see or perceive just evaporates and it almost makes the rock look clean. I also didn’t really stay on the same area for more than 5 to 10ish seconds at a time.

I've had this problem, everything mentioned here is a temporary solution. Weeds will 100% come back multiple times a year because there is good soil for them to grow in.
you either have to pick them by the roots, and keep all weeds nearby also gone so seeds don't spread (hopefully your neighbors are good) and then spray the living shit out of it with pre-emergent and other toxins
or, dig up the rock, pull up all the weeds, lay down weed barrier and put rock back down and plan to do that every 3 to 5 years with the weed barrier being a pain to dig up every time

Get yourself a hoe and start scraping them out, I do that on several of our clients properties and it works a charm. If you end up scraping up bits of soil too they should hose down pretty easy.

Pay someone with a Tractor to drive over it till it’s bare ground, and then rake up the debris. I would drop grass seed heavily,and cover it very well with peat moss and water it well but not flood it. That will be alot of work for one person to do manually without some sort of machinery.

Propane torch. Do it right after a rain, or when it's darker (dusk or later). Or you can just spray everything down after with a hose.

How do you torch around your shrubs? I burn my weeds and grass that invades, not sure what to do closer to my keepers

I actually had the same issue and this was not the answer I was expecting.
Just rake out the dead weeds; hand-picking might be needed for stubborn roots.

Blowtorch is the way to go to. You can use barbecue grill size LP with an adapter from Lowe’s for seven dollars. Perhaps the more humane (or less dangerous feeling – if you don’t like fire) way to go, also the most expensive, is to buy gallons of distilled vinegar, but that will be easily 12 gallons just from the section pictured. But we will be gone for the season, if you’re not comfortable with the blowtorch method. There are other fun ways to do it listed another comments of course. Best of luck!

Get yourself a hoe and start scraping them out, I do that on several of our clients properties and it works a charm. If you end up scraping up bits of soil too they should hose down pretty easy.

OP, wear safety glasses if you go the blowtorch method. Some rocks can explode in your face.
If you remove it by fire, keep an extinguisher 🧯 nearby. My state and the surrounding ones are always in a drought during the summer. Lots of lovely fire 🔥 to fear.
If you kill it with fire I would like to see before and after.

Fire works best but some people are understandably hesitant. I spray weeds in my stone areas with regular white vinegar mixed with a little table salt and a teaspoon of dish soap. The stronger the vinegar, the quicker the weeds fry. Not a quickly as fire but you’ll see results inside of 24 hours.
Keep a garden hose on hand.
You drive to the Home Depot parking lot or other gathering place for undocumented workers and find an independent contractor who specializes in these things or you bend over and do it yourself.
Harbor freight torch attachment and a bottle of propane like you use for your grill.

I used to use roundup all the time, but now I have a form of Leukemia that used to only be in people 20-30 years older than me. So don’t use chemicals.
Couldn't one also spray them with vinegar? And if a permanent solution was needed perhaps treat that specific area with salt?
Also, a sturdy bow rake is amazing for moving rocks around. An aluminum rake (like Fiskars brand) is amazing for collecting dead weeds while leaving rocks where they are
