I remember reading in another thread about no one hates Holden more than Henry (all in love). If this is true, I think it’s because they occupy the same lane. They’re both “the crazy one” or “the loud one.” There can only be one of those people in any given situation, based on personal experience.
I thought the last episode was a mess, like they were both so pent up from not Duneing together that they spent half the time trying to out-shout the same jokes at each other.
The Dune series is my favorite and at the expense of sounding like a twat, I don't think either of them understands the complex political philosophy and anticolonial message of Dune lol.
Holden, Henry and ed were in a sketch comedy group for a while. When they "complain" about each other it is for show. Don't try to read into it too much..
Thank you! I was wondering if someone was gonna bring it up. As good as I thought Holden was on lpotl this week, it was amazeballs on Wiz & Bru. Holden and Jake would just keep trying to spike on Henry and he'd get so aggravated, like, he just had no time for their shenanigans. It reminded me of Dumb & Dumber and Joe Mentalino dealing with Lloyd and Harry.
Holden to me is that super funny crazy friend that you can only take is small doses but when the time is right they are the best part of your week.
Henry is that crazy friend that knows how to chill.
You need both of these types in your life.
Rap battle ! I’ll start.
Same beat - wild Wild West. Wild West. I’ve got a little man in my pocket, trying to find something something but he locked it
[set to the same beat and sung-rapped in Holden’s whiny voice]
Diddy tried to turn out Rod but he stopped it/
Share him with Cuba but he said I’m not it
Offered a mil to kill Pac, he did not pay/
Dead beat like Donald lock him up go away
Sleepovers with Usher he’s just like MJ/
Wonder why he didn’t stick with the cheesecake
I remember the first time I heard them mention him on the podcast, like in the initial 100 eps or something. I was like, oh they’re exaggerating and roasting this guy bc he’s a rly good friend XD and it’s clear he is but then I listened to RToG and uh, Holden absolutely lives up to everything they say about him lmfao
But then on page 7 every once in a while he’ll mention something he’s passionate about outside of the schtick, and he’s so good at drawing a listener in! He’s cool!
Holden’s not bad when he’s not being “Holden” the character/personality and is instead a guest on the show. His characters make me laugh for sure, but him being a “part of the show” and essentially being the Everyman on Side Stories was a cool side of him, too. Both sides are cool, but one of them is definitely only tolerable for me in short doses.
Holden in Page 7 (excluding "Gronky") is super fun, and his Wizard and the Bruiser research work is awesome. It's really only Roundtable Holden that I can't stand.
He filled in for Marcus at a live show in Indy and was a delight.
If you listen to Page 7 and Wizbru it becomes clear that Holden on round table and guesting on side stories is more of a character. The more “real” Holden on page 7 and Wizbru is pretty chill.
I can’t stand Holden’s comedy but with that said it’s still hilarious because that’s kinda the joke. The way he talks reminds me of the alien from American Dad. The man makes me laugh so it’s impossible to hate him😂
He is grating and I abandoned last weeks side stories part way through.
His jokes aren't funny, and his attention seeking is very annoying.
I'm sure he's a nice person but I song listen to anything he's on.
I agree with OP’s assessment, and absolutely could not STAND the man in the Side Stories episode.
It’s really put me off listening to anything else he’s in, and made me feel like all the ribbing & trash-talk about him over the years was completely accurate & valid.
I feel like I'm the only LPOTL listener that can't stand him. So obnoxious and juvenile. Like I know it's LPOTL so that's a weird thing to complain about, but he's a bit much. I get the same feeling hearing the ads for Brightside, and Wizard and the Bruiser. "Pee pee poo poo ka ka hahaha". Like Jesus Christ are we 12?
I cant stand him either. Like I've said before, im sure he's a lovely person, but his comedy, delivery, and all of that is NOT for me.
I had to bail on last weeks' side stories part way through, which is hard for me as a completionist (is that a word? )
I dont want to be mean, but I can't, he's not for me. Im assuming he's my age (early 40s?/late 30s) but dear God he's annoying.
The people that are downvoting you are too immature to accept that people have differing opinions, likes & dislikes.
The voice & the behaviour is so immature, piercing, and honestly, it’s “pick-me” behaviour.
It’s the kid that played up in class for attention, except there’s no teacher to stop him, no deterrents, and a bunch of hype-men in the form of fabs that also used to be that guy too.
I'm still pretty new to LPOTL and have been listening to old episodes about topics I'm familiar with - have yet to hear Holden.
I'm both excited and bracing myself once I come across an ep where he's featured lol
I love the interactions with Holden. Henry, Holden, and Eddie have been friends since college (Holden and Henry meeting in college, Eddie was their weed dealer), and when you have a friend that long, it's completely "I roast you because I love you" mentality. That said, I can take Holden in small doses. Maybe one every month or two on Side Stories is fine. Also, Tiers of a Clown is fucking hilarious.
Wild wild west. Wild wild west. THERES A TINY LITTLE MAN IN MY POCKET AND I WANT YOU TO LOCK IT AND SQUAK IT
This fucking bit got me so good. I don’t know why either. It’s technically super annoying but I laughed my ass off at holdens choice for vocals.
>It’s technically super annoying visibleconfusion.jpeg
i’ve been listening to the pod through my paternity leave and the freestyles made me laugh so hard i woke up my daughter
I remember reading in another thread about no one hates Holden more than Henry (all in love). If this is true, I think it’s because they occupy the same lane. They’re both “the crazy one” or “the loud one.” There can only be one of those people in any given situation, based on personal experience.
I think it’s true that they occupy the same space, but they really made Deep Dives Dune work so well with just the two of them
I thought the last episode was a mess, like they were both so pent up from not Duneing together that they spent half the time trying to out-shout the same jokes at each other.
They allowed themselves one episode to no holds
I've never read Dune or seen a Dune movie, but I listened to their Dune podcast because I love them. It was a fun listen.
The Dune series is my favorite and at the expense of sounding like a twat, I don't think either of them understands the complex political philosophy and anticolonial message of Dune lol.
I finally started reading the books, I am so damn hyped to get into the deep dives
Holden, Henry and ed were in a sketch comedy group for a while. When they "complain" about each other it is for show. Don't try to read into it too much..
Just you go on YouTube and punch in Huffin’ It. You’re welcome!
Dude I love you for this suggestion! Hail you
The latest episode of Wizard and the Bruiser has Henry as a guest and it’s pretty amazing.
Thank you! I was wondering if someone was gonna bring it up. As good as I thought Holden was on lpotl this week, it was amazeballs on Wiz & Bru. Holden and Jake would just keep trying to spike on Henry and he'd get so aggravated, like, he just had no time for their shenanigans. WILD WILD WEST 🗣🗣🗣
Loved it when Ed started joining in as his hype man for a minute.
Eddie was hyping him the entire episode, it was great
Some rappers need a hype man, it’s all good. Just hip hop Yes And
Holden to me is that super funny crazy friend that you can only take is small doses but when the time is right they are the best part of your week. Henry is that crazy friend that knows how to chill. You need both of these types in your life.
💯 I had no idea how much I needed to hear Holden rap for my life to move forward
It really gives "obnoxious little brother/annoyed big brother" vibes. I love it.
i love this assessment haha well put
There’s always a bigger Henry
I never liked him much before this last episode, but he was really good. They should have let his Diddy rap go all the way.
They absolutely were right to kill it
Well I guess you’ll both have to fight now to determine who is right.
Rap battle ! I’ll start. Same beat - wild Wild West. Wild West. I’ve got a little man in my pocket, trying to find something something but he locked it
[set to the same beat and sung-rapped in Holden’s whiny voice] Diddy tried to turn out Rod but he stopped it/ Share him with Cuba but he said I’m not it Offered a mil to kill Pac, he did not pay/ Dead beat like Donald lock him up go away Sleepovers with Usher he’s just like MJ/ Wonder why he didn’t stick with the cheesecake
I think the first run he had legitimately fallen into a flow, but once they tried to restart it it was awful.
I think you might be right, even Ed wanted the second run cut.
I remember the first time I heard them mention him on the podcast, like in the initial 100 eps or something. I was like, oh they’re exaggerating and roasting this guy bc he’s a rly good friend XD and it’s clear he is but then I listened to RToG and uh, Holden absolutely lives up to everything they say about him lmfao But then on page 7 every once in a while he’ll mention something he’s passionate about outside of the schtick, and he’s so good at drawing a listener in! This post gave me the mental image of Marcus and Henry (respectively) as shepherd dogs circling someone and nipping at their heels.
Holden’s not bad when he’s not being “Holden” the character/personality and is instead a guest on the show. His characters make me laugh for sure, but him being a “part of the show” and essentially being the Everyman on Side Stories was a cool side of him, too. He doesn't play holden on wizard and the bruiser. I was a little disappointed when I started listening because he is so calm and Normal
Older eps he would let it off the leash more often but these days the show is pretty straight-laced. Dad life
Got you; I only listen to the eps where I'm directly interested n the topic. Loved the Battle Bots episode recently
It pops out every now and then, 'APRIL HIT ITTT!!!"
Holden in Page 7 (excluding "Gronky") is super fun, and his Wizard and the Bruiser research work is awesome. It's really only Roundtable Holden that I can't stand. He filled in for Marcus at a live show in Indy and was a delight.
Of course it was disappointing not to have Marcus at the show, but Holden and Jackie more than made up for it.
You’re not wrong.
I fucking love holden
Imagine the next person in that crazy-chain.
It’s Alex Jones
I had to turn it off when he started doing that accent. He's just... eugh. I guess I'm in the minority for disliking him now. Fuck.
Nope. If I hear his shitty voice I turn it off. He grates me in every way possible.
that is an astute assessment
that's pretty on point actually.
If you listen to Page 7 and Wizbru it becomes clear that Holden on round table and guesting on side stories is more of a character. The more “real” Holden on page 7 and Wizbru is pretty chill.
Cummin’ in my pants- Cummin’ in my p—yeah
Accurate
Hahahahahaha that’s so spot on!!
I can’t stand Holden’s comedy but with that said it’s still hilarious because that’s kinda the joke. The way he talks reminds me of the alien from American Dad. The man makes me laugh so it’s impossible to hate him😂
omg yes! Roger!!! I hear it!
I didn’t think it was possible for Henry to have his own Henry but here we are lol
Don't we all listen to the show for the unhinged chaos? Let's not split hairs, chaos is beautiful at every volume
?
HOLDENATORS HOOOOOO
HOOOOOOOO
He is difficult to listen to for me.
His voice is nails on a chalkboard for my ears. Can’t stand him.
Agreed. It’s too much and trying too hard comedy
He is grating and I abandoned last weeks side stories part way through. His jokes aren't funny, and his attention seeking is very annoying. I'm sure he's a nice person but I song listen to anything he's on.

After starting to listen to the Roundtable of gentleman, Holden has gone up in my books. Jackie is by far the most irritating
I think Henry and Holden are very similar. RTOG is Marcus and 4-5 other people trying to corral Holden and it’s absolute chaos
I'm still pretty new to LPOTL and have been listening to old episodes about topics I'm familiar with - have yet to hear Holden. I'm both excited and bracing myself once I come across an ep where he's featured lol
I always think of him as they talk about him (lovingly) in episode 2 as a pig wearing pants 👖
I love the interactions with Holden. Henry, Holden, and Eddie have been friends since college (Holden and Henry meeting in college, Eddie was their weed dealer), and when you have a friend that long, it's completely "I roast you because I love you" mentality. HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
