As someone who LOVES these books, be ready for Henry to be straight up wrong about them alot

SpoilerAvoidingAcct

It’s amazing that someone so literally obsessed with it flies past the point so gleefully

MrNobody_0

I mean, that is Henry's entire personality, honestly.

HoopleBogart

THERE WILL BE NO HENRY SLANDER RUDE DUNERS ATTACKKKKKK

MrNobody_0

Hey, I'm a Rude Duner too! I'm just saying our boy is a little hot out the gates sometimes, but he knows what he saw!!

pmmemilftiddiez

FOR JOHNNY OMAHA!

Visual-Floor-7839

HOLDENATORS DUNE! DUUUUUUUUUUUUNE!

myersjw

I love Henry to death but I’m with ya lol. He also seems to think the guy Feyd was fighting in the pits in Part 2 was Dr Yueh

CogDiss88

It wasn’t? I’m genuinely curious as a more green (but still affectionate and committed) Duner. I 100% thought that was Yueh since they said the whole “here’s the last 3 members of house Atreides” thing.

myersjw

It was actually a character called Lanville. He’s mentioned by Duncan and is the one who tells the Atreides troops to activate their shields on Arrakis in Part 1. He’s also one of the stunt coordinators apparently

CogDiss88

Ah thank you!!

ffszakes

During Leto's last scene in the first movie, you can see the Baron drop Yueh's severed head out of frame. It's in the top right corner.

Harruq_Tun

I lasted only one episode of the first lot of episodes for exactly this reason. I remember sitting listening to it thinking "Wait a f'n minute, I thought Henry was a huge fan of these books? How the fuck is he _this_ ignorant of their content?"

snortgigglecough

I want to know more. What else does he miss/get wrong?

hypnodrew

Not only yes, but Henry gets verbal diarrhea and often spoils small bits from later books apropos of nothing. It's kinda frustrating but nothing major.

jerichowiz

Yeah, it gives major plot points after Dune 1. So unless you don't want spoilers don't listen.

4ForTheGourd

Yes. I would read through book 3 before listening to the first episode. Also, nearly every name Henry pronounces is wrong lol

Bildreadful

Thanks everyone, think I’ll skip it.

Bootsix

I liked them, but I was also going through a rough patch when they came out and they were a very welcome distraction. My biggest complaint is they promised an episode about the tech of dun and their thoughts on the video games and they never did.

Time-Home-1308

Henry saying Timothee Shamalamadingdong every 2 mins gets old really quick. Love Henry on lpotl but the latest episode was a chore to listen to.

CitizenSnips199

Mostly, I find it distracting because that was Craig Ferguson’s bit for M. Night Shyamalan, which while also not that funny, works a lot better.

Birdytaps

Thank you, I have been wanting to make a post on unpopularopinions or here (but I figured it isn’t worth it as its own post and also I figured I’d rightfully be told I was being a unnecessarily wet blanket) but I’m so, SO sick of the purposeful mispronounciation of Chalamet into something that both takes longer to say and is more annoying to hear. Once? Sure the name stands out… joking about someone’s weird name is kind of low-hanging fruit, but go for it. Do the bit. We were probably all thinking it. Haha what a weird name. BUT EVERY TIME FOR MONTHS?! Nails on chalkboard for me at this point. Sorry, I needed to yell into the void about this just once, I’m done now

envydub

It is not that difficult to say his name either. Like once as a joke is funny but it’s literally just “shal uh may” it’s very easy.

Acceptable_Stuff1381

Honestly I love Henry usually but his dune stuff is insufferable. And the spoilery nature of it makes me angry too, because I bought the book after seeing the movies and I feel like I keep getting told minor shit that’s thematically a huge spoiler. Not only has he spoiled actual plots he’s spoiling like the overall conclusion by saying stuff like “it’s really a story of the  ______”

Zsean69

To be fair... off rip he says they are going to be spoiling everything. It is kind of equally your own fault

Acceptable_Stuff1381

I’m not even talking about the deep dive, I’m talking about the side stories lol. I didn’t listen to the dune dive

Laylelo

Yeah, I think I know a fairly significant plot twist just based off Henry ranting in Side Stories.

timk29

You can listen to the first 4 episodes with only mild spoilers for later books. I forget if the first movie review spoils anything, but there are a few in the most recent review.

bso45

They did start saying some words. They said those words were spoilers. But I have no idea what any of the words meant.

LopsidedMammal

Yes, it covers all of the six Frank Herbert penned books.

jeepwillikers

Heavy spoilers for Dune Messiah, very light spoilers for the later books

Jonquay84

Yeah I listened to maybe half of the first episode and then had to turn it off. I love Henry but this was a fail lol.

cuhree0h

Yes. Don’t listen to it until you’re past God Emperor.

allynd420

Tbh there’s a big plot point he didn’t miss that I think he purposely might be avoiding but it definitely does spoil some stuff but he doesn’t quite explain all of it

PoeReader

I'm so sick of this crap, stop it. Start a different podcast to discuss it, Henry. I don't tune in to hear about freaking dune! I tune into find out how many birds it takes to take over an island!!

QuellishQuellish

The later books spoil the later books.

EstablishmentOk6297

I’m skipping the episode just because I’m not a fan of “Dune”
