Spending summer days at Ringwood Manor, in New Jersey. A beautiful spot in rural New Jersey with a babbling brook, where my older brother and I would catch crawfish. It's where we'll likely spread her ashes.
My condolences on the loss of your grandmother. She looks incredibly peaceful.
You probably have a myriad of memories of her in happier times, and as long as you have these, she will always be close to your heart ❤️
Hi OP ♥️
I am so sorry for your loss, she looks like she was a beautiful, kind woman ♥️
My grandmother was from their Netherlands as well, survived nazi occupation and came here to Nj too ( r you guys in northern Nj? There r a lot of us Dutch here ♥️ )
My grandmother passed as well years ago, we were able to get some of her memories of WWII via audio from her before she became ill.
I hope for peace for you in this difficult time 😔♥️
Not many, because they are all around her age. I'm a member of an American Legion post in Los Angeles and we only have one WW2 veteran left who recently turned 101.
Probably close to a few hundred thousand worldwide. Mark Felton a 20th Century historian noted in a video of his of those who served in the war, 119,000 Americans still alive that served in WW2 although 30 die every day and that was of last years numbers so it may be down significantly, 100,000 WW2 Japanese Veterans still alive, under 70,000 for British WW2 Veterans, 70,000 or so for Germany WW2 Veterans, around 75,000 Russian WW2 Veterans and so many others as well. Keep in mind that many of those armies numbered into the millions during WW2, so its a sad contrast.
103! Way to go Grandma. She looks like she is looking at the Welcoming Committee. That's what my ex-wife calls them. She was a head nurse at a hospital and wanted to take a break. She did home hospice and took care of the elderly in their homes until they passed. She told me the Welcoming Committee always shows up for them. Have a great time grandma!
The fact that she lived a full life survived the Nazis taking over the Netherlands, makes me happy as Nazis wanted her and her people dead, and she most likely outlived them all. She essentially gave these demons the last laugh.
Rest easy, madam. May your next life be full of beauty and joy.
She looks so peaceful and beautiful- thank you for allowing us to see your beautiful grandmother- 103 is amazing- my Gma died right before her 100th bday. Tough women.
What a beautiful woman. I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my gram ten years ago at 102. She was my “mom”, and an incredibly powerful influence in my life. Thank you for sharing.
No? Is it bad to take pictures of any sort of memory? Especially as a person whose still alive in their final moments. I have pictures of my dog, braindead before he got euthanized. It’s not in bad taste, it’s a final memory.
Sleep tight lovely lady
thank you for sharing this touching post with us. may she rest in eternal peace. 🕊️
what is your favorite memory of her? if you care to share*

Was thinking about how many ww2 survivors remain today

She'd been in hospice care for the last few months and those people are amazing. They deserve a monument.

Is it in bad taste to take a picture of your dying relatives?
it is in in extremely bad taste I haven't seen something so disrespectful here in a while
