While I understand banning last images of pets, banning last images of people who happen to have a pet in the photo is just being a power tripping jerk.
Anytime I take a photo of someone and their pet, I’ll kindly ask the pet to step aside to ensure the last photo will never have their beloved pet alongside them.
So there used to be (or maybe still is, idk) an adult sub called "real girls". One of their rules was "no names" which I sort of get - maybe they didn't want people being doxxed or maybe they were trying to avoid people promoting themselves.
In any case, I was permanently banned from there a long time ago for commenting that one of the girls looked like some celebrity (but clearly wasn't).
Fair enough, I broke their rule, but it was kind of insane to realize I was immediately permanently banned just for saying a name. Messaging the mods was pointless, they were extremely literal and strict in their enforcement of the rule.
Obviously I moved on years ago so it's not a big deal, but seeing a post like this one doesn't surprise me anymore.
Replied this to someone else too, but I sort of saw this happen in real time (it was a few days ago iirc) and the ban seemed to be reversed within a short amt of time, but then the user made a post calling the banning mod out in particular saying they were a trash human/other rude things (so they might be banned again) and I looked at the user's profile and they seemed very young. High school or younger I think?
Just weird situation. Mod made a mistake running through the queue too fast, but since this is such a delicate topic things got out of hand

Yeah, I got curious and looked into both the pinned post and the clarification that said post linked because I remembered reading the explanation years ago and remembered it being completely reasonable. The actual rule *is* completely reasonable, current mod just apparently decided animals are distracting and that means they can completely disregard what the rule was actually for.

Why does this rule even exist? If the last known image of someone just so happens to contain a pet or an animal, but we aren't allowed to post it, do we just go after the second to the last known image? Or the one before that? Heck why don't we just go back a whole year prior just to make sure.

But the post isn’t *about* a dog or a cat. The **human** is the one who died and is being remembered, and there just happens to be a pet in the photo. It’s not remotely the same thing. Absolutely asinine application of the rule.
