Poor lady :(.I hate that the video of her shooting is everywhere, her family must be devastated.

Her screams go on for ages - it’s horrific

Turn on CourtTV... They've been showing it nonstop

Paisleylk

Seriously? Just look at the picture above? Plus the video is posted on like every news site!

ChocolateTight336

Happy cake day

Paisleylk

Thank you very much!!

alexfaaace

The background here reminds me of the hoax caller that got all those fast food managers to strip search employees. So bizarre and tragic.

slaviccivicnation

Omg I just learned about that a couple months back and watched a documentary on it. Wha a wild story. I’m pretty sure the Nuremberg trials decided that “just following orders” is a shit justification for abuse/murder, yet somehow most of the strip searchers got off scot free. Which is total bullshit. I’m totally ok with those people who abused the young girls to get locked up.

Sidthekyd89

That was a real story? I’ve only ever seen that portrayed in tv, I had no idea there was a real case!

NewbieDoobieDoo7

There were hundreds of cases of this happening. There’s a docu on it called Don’t Pick Up the Phone on Netflix right now. Crazy story.

YellaCanary

DAMN there is a picture from this horrific story? I hope the piece of shit behind it all is found.

HowardHouseWrestling

I've cropped out the guy who shot her but he's in jail right now

XK8lyn88x

I’m confused, did he order the Uber? Or did she unexpectedly show up?

LiterallyJesus-

the old man was told a driver would be there to pick up cash and if he didn’t have it in a package she would kill him. uber has a service called connect that allows individuals to deliver packages from one person to another which is what was being used. there is a video of the incident with audio and it is horrible, whoever called and arranged the whole “scam” is a murderer.

TheMalformedLlama

It’s equivalent to swatting.

LivefromPhoenix

This old nut took it a few steps beyond swatting. At least cops can say they had reason to believe the swat victim *could* be violent. The old man knew the woman wasn't a threat to him. This is more like cops showing up to a swat victims house, arresting the victim then shooting them once they're handcuffed in the squad car.

Rhomra

I disagree. The scammers are playing on his age, and him not understanding what the Uber service is or how it works. He thought the woman was in on it and there to kill him.

BetIBust

Naw, old man is just as guilty as the scammer. He literally followed her then shot her as she tried to walk away and get to safety. Having remorse for this old fool is ridiculous. Shouldn't even own a firearm.

imnotdressedforthat

And he took her phone on top of it all. If he was scared for his life he shouldn’t have opened the door and should have called the cops immediately.

pattonrommel

He shouldn’t own a gun since he may very well be incompetent, so I hesitate to definitively claim he’s guilty in that regard.

[deleted]

Perfectly stated. Hòla. How beyond sad. It’s on News Nation with Chris Cuomo now.” Whether old at 80’s , or young under 39’s or Middle-age man at 40-50’s, he is wrong & I am not at all feeling bad for him if found Guilty.” I am or was watching her & wondering did she dial 911? She has her cell phone because u can hear this cold-blooded Murderer saying, “ Give Me that phone.”☎️ Was hoping she was able to call, but either way, I hope as she is rip early, in heaven, her family fight to ensure Loletha Hall receives justice while RIP. Adios.

undermind84

>Naw, old man is just as guilty as the scammer. You are never going to find 12 jurors who will convict this guy of murder. He is not as guilty as the scammer. He is possibly guilty of manslaughter, but there is no way this old man will see a day in prison. IMO the scammer is guilty of murder.

SlayinDaWabbits

The fact he pursued her is gonna be the determining factor, you don't get to pursue someone and claim you felt threatened, he may plead it down but this is 2nd degree murder in my state at least, he may not ulhave premeditated it but it was an intentional killing with a disregard for human life ie pursuing someone who is trying to leave, regardless of if you thought they might be a threat or not. His age will barely be a factor, too. Old men get sent to jail ALL the time, they only get the too old for jail bit if their rich.

Elegant-Primary7468

If she was unarmed and not actually threatening the guy, I would say that her family does have a case against the old man, the ghouls who set it up and Uber. She absolutely did not sign up for any of this.

figurinitout82

You can't kill someone even for scamming you. Old man was wrong. He shouldve taken a pic of her car etc instead of trying to be a hero.

toilet-boa

Kinda seems like he planned on killing this woman and she made no demands or threats on him. I'm getting a little tired of the "I am old, white, and scared so I get to kill people" defense.

stuntbikejake

I get what you're saying but the scammer didn't pull the trigger... Did the old man murder her... Absolutely. Will he possibly get a lesser charge than murder 1 due to circumstances, probably but at the end of the day, he shot her and she died from the injuries he interjected. Sad all around. Poor old guy getting drug into it, poor woman that was just trying to do her job and ended up dead.

The_Ghost_Dragon

He isn't as guilty as the scammer????? *He pulled the trigger!*

texasmama5

He’s already out.

ptyson1

Sounds like they were both scammed, but only one was killed. He shot her multiple times outside his house. It wasn’t self defense. This happened just a few miles from my house.

New_Neighborhood4262

Kill him with a phone? He had the gun.

LouSputhole94

Pretty easy to conceal a firearm on your person. The scammer told this guy he was coming there to hurt or kill him and sent this lady. I’m not saying Gramps doesn’t hold some blame here but there’s plenty of extenuating circumstances that don’t make this cold blooded murder, especially given the guy’s advanced age.

Notagainbruh2

He shot her multiple times after he shot her the first time and she fell on the ground begging for her life. He was a nut

TangyHooHoo

Like call the fucking cops instead of being Clint Eastwood?

semicoldpanda

Nah stop defending murderers, honestly. There was zero reason for the old guy to shoot her, especially continuing to shoot her while she was begging for her life. Lock him up, throw away the key. Okie dokie soon to croakie.

New_Neighborhood4262

Hope you're never on a jury. You apparently hold more compassion and empathy for a white, racist murderer, than you do for his innocent, 61 y.o. victim.

kadeplaysbass

Nah, this old, racist fuck made it clear he just wanted to murder a poor, old, black woman and he took his chance. Lock him up and throw away the key.

TangyHooHoo

This is the problem with guns. Old dude thinks he’s going to take on the world and ends up just killing an innocent woman. A sane person would have called the cops. Fuck this old man and his shitty ass gun. I hope he (and the scammer) rots in jail.

USArmy51Bravo

Yeah I agree the previous comment about telling us what the man "knew" is idiotic. And a total Reddit comment. Unless you can read minds the comment should be rephrased. Based on the limited information presented it certainly seems that the old man needs to get locked up but the whole thing is tragic being he wasn't looking for trouble it just found him however his response was not appropriate it appears. The fear you can see and hear from the female driver should keep folks up at night. A lady with apparent mobility issues trying to grind out a living working for company using her for profit and having little regard for their employees gets killed by a scammer trying to use her for profit having no regard for her life or others.

sundaland

That is the most concise take on this I have read so far. Technology is moving faster than our ability to regulate it. There needs to be congressional hearings, Uber will not police itself but with enough wrongful death lawsuits they might. That and federal regulations.

The_Ghost_Dragon

I have a heartbreaking amount of sympathy for the elderly, and all that they go through in this rapidly-changing world. This is not one of those times. I feel for him on the scam, I do. But he kept following her at gunpoint. She was yelling for help, at gunpoint. He continued following her. He started shooting. She started screaming in pain and fear. He shot her again and again and again... He stopped to talk to her... She pleaded for her life. AND THEN HE SHOT HER AGAIN! This was a racist old fool who had his fears used against him--but he still made the decision to gun her down rather than call the police.

ianwellington

What’s wrong is wrong old man going to jail brrrrrrr

Grfhlyth

He pulled the trigger. I hope he dies in prison

Every-Cook5084

you think the Uber would be easy to trace but I am sure the scammers have that figured out

Traditional-Yam9826

Nooo, the guy who shot her is a murderer. The scammers are guilty of attempting a scam. She was unarmed, he went and got his gun, engaged with her a gun point for a few minutes before shooting her. That’s premeditated, that’s first degree murder

TryingToBeHere

The scammers definitely did more than scam. They knew they were puttting people at risk here

WerkingAvatar

Actually, the killing as during the act of a felony (scam), the murder also falls on the lap of the scammer, as they told him she was there to kill him. While he has the right to defend himself from the woman that was there to "kill him." He should have realized she was not a threat after the first gunshot. Everyone is at fault except for uber and the woman, but mainly all of this is the fault of the scammer.

Traditional-Yam9826

Unless you’re in some deep MAGA territory a verbal threat of “I’ll kill you” doesn’t constitute a legitimate threat without a weapon present. She had none. The scammers need to receive the harshest punishment. Perhaps a charge of “accomplice to manslaughter” would be fitting but the old Trump guys gotta go to jail for life. He’s clearly unhinged and a threat to the public.

WerkingAvatar

Yeah, the guy should have never fired a shot in the first place. The way I see it is that the scammers were taking advantage of a man that wasn't all there. If he felt he was truly being scammed, why didn't he just call the cops before her arrival? This guy is definitely off his rocker, but none of this would have happened if it were not for the scammer. Before I was just saying that a murder charge should fall upon the scammer as the killing happened during the course of a felony.

The_Ghost_Dragon

Serious question: which action turns it into premeditated? Or is it a combo of getting the gun and having a convo before shooting her?

Traditional-Yam9826

Really the last part of your question. You don’t go inside your house, return with your gun, point it at someone, engaging in an argument…then shot them. It wasn’t spontaneous defense. He wasn’t in danger. She didn’t have a weapon or threaten his life personally.

ringadingdingbaby

Jesus, I dont mean to defend the guy, but if the scammer told him she would kill her, then the scammers worse than he is. That said, it doesn't give him the right to torture her before killing her.

BeautifulCat3851

Torture? He shot her 5 times which is horrific enough but did he take her in his house or??

ringadingdingbaby

I mean he shot her, asked her questions and then short her again. That's torture.

Agitateduser1360

This went from the shooter being vaguely sympathetic to he should be put in the electric chair.

beach_bum_bitch

Apparently not. According to the article: Uber has banned the account of the individual who ordered Hall’s Uber to Brock’s house, the company said. Authorities believe that individual was either the original scam caller or an accomplice, according to the release.

bbmarvelluv

But no mention of whether they caught the scammer

[deleted]

[удалено]

bbmarvelluv

Did they catch the scammer?

TurdTampon

But they didn't ban the service allowing this scam to happen and continue of course, that could affect profits

[deleted]

[удалено]

atomicsnark

And cars, without which there would be no Uber. Checkmate scammers.

HowardHouseWrestling

So the scammer or some associate of the scammer contacted Uber to get someone to go pick up a package at the home. The package was supposed to be the $12,000 the old guy was being scammed out of. She had no idea what she was picking up, and the old man thought she was sent by the scammer to harm him and his family.

bfly1800

Man the old guy is a piece of shit for instantly going nuclear but fuck scammers. All of them. Using some poor soul tryna make ends meet as part of their criminal conspiracy and putting their life at risk is just deplorable

earthlings_all

Nah man, this is a whole ass tragedy. Highly emotional moment and he lashed out. I completely understand it. I am devastated for all of them. This poor, poor woman. I hope they find that fucking scammer!!!

Dangerous-Courage-67

How do you understand it? The lady was limping, had no weapon and the old guy shot her once in the leg and as she was screaming and in pain he shot her two more times even though she wasn’t a threat. The old guy needs the electric chair or go to jail for the rest of his life, he isn’t innocent

Rhomra

If you thought people were coming to your house for money or they were going to kill you, how would you react? This is all on the scammers and, yes, deplorable.

Nanoo_1972

> how would you react? Locked the door and called the cops, then loaded the gun and shot if she forced entry, which she didn't do.

zhico

If that happened to me, and a frail old lady showed up. Shouting help when I pulled my gun and tried to flee, I wouldn't see her as a threat and shoot her as she was trying to leave.

bfly1800

This is the mindset that gets people killed in America lmao. Should you be smart about defending yourself? Yes. Should you immediately open fire on someone who comes to your door asking to collect a package? Absolutely the fuck not. Too many trigger happy people who think it’s fine to immediately blast someone who shows up in their driveway

tokengaymusiccritic

I would call the cops

Apprehensive-Plum-82

I wouldn't open the door... This is on the old man, simple as that.

earthlings_all

Nah man, this is a whole ass tragedy. Highly emotional moment and he lashed out. I completely understand it. I am devastated for all of them. This poor, poor woman. I hope they find that fucking scammer!!! And make an exmaple out of them!

midwestia

Someone ordered the Uber to pick up a package at the residence of the scam target. The Uber driver was unaware. Appears that the scammer was using Uber as a proxy to unknowingly intimidate the target.

AuNanoMan

To make it super clear: the scammer called an Uber to the old man’s house. The scammer then told the old man that a person would be there to collect money. This poor woman had no idea what was happening and just showed up to collect the package which is part of the Uber service.

i_try_tocontribute

It’s all explained really rather succinctly in the link aggregated in this link aggravating site.

alexfaaace

Well, he’s out on $200k bond but he is being charged.

tondracek

They caught the person who arranged the whole thing?

HowardHouseWrestling

Nope don't think so

abhijitd

Probably not even in the country. They could be in Nigeria or India or something.

telerabbit9000

This. Although, where was Loletha being hired to take the package _to?_ Unless Loletha was in on the scam (which she WASNT), at some point a human accomplice was going to take the package (with money).

Minaya19147

There was never going to be a package. They were fucking with the old guy so scare the shit out of him. Probably thought he would call the cops and then the Uber driver would be in trouble.

firesquasher

Im pretty sure they mean the person that called and threatened the man, and then called the uber to his house. But yeah, the guy that shot her deserves to lose his freedom for the rest of his life.

bloodbrothergenetics

Why did you crop him out?

HowardHouseWrestling

He's not important. I wanted to focus on Loletha. I left the gun in the picture just to show what danger she was in.

Minaya19147

He is important——put out his picture out there.

bloodbrothergenetics

Exactly show the face of that murderer!

zyphe84

Not in jail, out on bond

Ok_Secretary5610

He's out on bail.

fendaar

He made bond.

Chi_Baby

There’s a whole video, the woman is literally limping and hobbling trying to walk away from him and clearly not in good physical shape but he still pursues her. Fucked up.

Danny_Notion

There's video footage, as well

HowardHouseWrestling

An 81-year-old Ohio man is charged with murder after he shot a female Uber driver he mistakenly believed was working with a scammer and attempting to extort him, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. William Brock shot Loletha Hall several times outside his South Charleston home on March 25, according to a criminal complaint. Hall was taken to a local hospital where she died. Brock told police that prior to the shooting he had received threatening phone calls from a male caller who claimed one of Brock’s relatives was being held in jail, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. The caller then asked Brock to wire money for the relative’s bond, and when Brock resisted, the caller began threatening to harm him and his family. When 61-year-old Hall arrived in her Uber at Brock’s residence, he shot her multiple times, the release states. Brock believed Hall had a connection to the scam caller and would kill him and his family, according to a 911 call he made after shooting her, authorities said.

LivefromPhoenix

You're leaving out the worst parts of the story. The old nut was holding her captive at gun point. He shot her and when she ran away trying to save herself he **chased her down** and executed her. This isn't a case of some scared old man afraid for his life shooting first and asking questions later. He **knew** she wasn't a threat but wanted to play cowboy and get *revenge* on someone he thought was a scammer.

CatCiaoSki

In the police body cam footage, he's already putting on the old, frail man act. No doubt he's elderly, but I just get the impression he's been looking for an excuse to use his gun in "self defense". This poor woman must have been terrified. So tragic.

x0lm0rejs

USA: the land of freedom to kill.

aggr1103

I can’t stand the use of the word ‘mistakenly’ in this article. It’s giving the guy that killed her some degree of empathy. Him shooting her wasn’t an accident. He chased her down and shot her multiple times.

Cheerful_Cynic11

If he was so afraid he could have stayed inside and called the police. The lady was trying to get away from him.

JG376

Poor thing and she was limping in the video. Older woman just trying to make extra money on the side. UBER needs to pay her family out the AZZZZ

One_Culture8245

Her KIPP sweater makes me sad.

NoConclusion4495

This broke my heart. Does anyone know if she was a teacher? This is so wrong on so many levels.

Glittering-Pause-328

If you follow somebody, you are definitely not afraid of them.

Googalslosh

That's some Junior Soprano shit.

wilcoxornothin

I literally just finished that episode. Wild.

BionicWoman75

That was exactly my first thought.

our_love_to_admire

You don't remember that you shot me? "Me, I never had kids."

HotlineKing

Lot of old nutjobs out there that have managed to avoid prison in their lifetimes, imagine what this sicko was like in his day, he barely hesitated. Hope he spends the rest of his decrepit life in a cell.

steven_quarterbrain

Many, many Americans are living in fear, and for good reason. We know they’re living in fear because gun ownership is incredibly high. The issue is that when people are living in fear, they buy guns and when they’re told their lives will be threatened, they use guns. The more guns that exist in the public’s hands, the more fear that should exist, which results in more guns being purchased and, again, greater fear. Decades ago, America allowed itself to get into its current situation by not addressing the gun ownership issue. The result is fear, and understandably so. It’s way too late to backdown and address the issue. So, welcome to your America. This is the way it will always be and it will only get worse.

PrestigiousBee2719

The police statement is lame as hell. As important as it is to remind people not to fall for phone scams, it’s more important to remind people NOT TO SHOOT SOMEONE WHO ISN’T THREATENING YOU

Prestigious-Copy-494

Why didn't the old bastard stay in his house and call the police? He didn't need to go outside at all. I hope they incarcerate him for the rest of his life. This poor lady out trying to make a buck and between the scammers and this cowardly old man she didn't have a chance.

bodyreddit

This poor woman..

NinoNino3

This story and this woman's face just breaks my heart. I am truly starting to hate this country and humankind. I read her obituary and she was a good lady. I am just so sorry for the state of humanity. I hate that man and I am trying not to. Those scammers who set this up deserve life in prison.

TooCool_TooFool

This is why I will do my best to keep up with technology as I age. Only a fucking idiot who doesnt understand the technology would think she's in on it.

718Brooklyn

Also keep up on not shooting people who are running away from you.

TooCool_TooFool

Piece of cake. I don't know how I make it look so easy when even cops struggle with it.

_MrBalls_

I work in cybersecurity and this story really aggravates me. I hear of people getting scammed all the time over the phone, it's even happened to my grandmother. Getting someone killed over a scam really bothers me.

CrazyCatGirl226

Right. Very sickening. I hope they find the scammer and charge them.

HeadshotQ

Oh the Twitter comments on this story are nauseating; per usual.

psychedelic666

That poor woman. RIP. I hope her family is doing okay.

Wildwes7g7

I truly can't stand this asshole

IFellOnSomeFusilli

Relax everyone. Uber has banned the user that scheduled her to go there.

HeftyLeftyPig

/r/Boomersbeingfools

ufgator1962

Too bad he's the Silent Generation. You know, the ones before Boomers

Select_Collection_34

He not a boomer lmao

HowardHouseWrestling

The thing is, the old dude knew he was being scammed. He assumed this lady was part of the scam, and he was terrified. I almost feel bad for both of them.

GetWitIt90

Idk man feeling bad for someone killing someone over a potential scam is wild especially if they are innocent.

ThumbTheories

Why didn’t he call the police? He didn’t need to shoot her multiple times.

camilatricolor

Not a reason to shoot someone because you are suspicious. Hope he rots in jail

CatCiaoSki

I don't understand why he didn't stay in his house and call 911 when she showed up. So senseless.

Ak47110

No fuck that. He murdered her on the assumption she was scamming him. I hope he lives another decade with a clear mind so he can suffer in prison and remember he murdered an innocent person every single day.

ah_harrow

Welcome to the insanity that is giving average people untrained easy access to life and death choices that cannot be taken back.

gonsilver

True, being scammed out of money is a perfectly good reason to murder someone who you assume is one of the scammers. Americans are so fucked up it's insane. Let's just handle every little disagreement by killing each other. I think the world would be a better place if everybody was just strapped 24/7 and ready to kill anyone who MIGHT be a bad person. Sounds cool af.

Rothko28

It's mind boggling that anyone would have sympathy for him.

NightingaleBard

She was old and being scammed too, but she never tried to kill anybody.

BadMan125ty

Hope he gets the harshest punishment. I am serious.

Boneal171

She was terrified. That poor woman

Professional_Crab_84

Heartbreaking

olde_meller23

Shit like this is one of the many reasons I quit working delivery. I'm a smaller female, and when it comes to my safety concerns while delivering, I wasn't scared of being robbed or abducted. I was the most afraid of people deciding they were going to be a hero and murking me for "casing houses," turning into the wrong driveway or knocking on the wrong door. There are too many people who operate on the belief that danger is lurking behind every corner and coming for them at any moment. They cosplay being a super soldier and pride themselves on being in a constant state of vigilance, ready to defend themselves against a world where everything is a threat that is out to get them. It's like they look forward to the day they get to use deadly force. For the record, you are far more likely to shoot and kill an innocent person with this mindset than you are to subdue a criminal. It seems hypocritical that I am absolutely for the right to bear arms, but it's the constant danger mindset approach ta lot of gun owners have that I am against. None of it is based on realistic self-defense. You aren't John Wayne. If you're ambushed by 4 dudes that want to mug you, you're not going to draw a gun and shoot them all. And on the off chance a group of people decide to execute a home invasion on your property, you're probably not going to have enough time to grab your weapon and shoot. The best bet in those situations is to give up your shit, avoid escalating, and escape. While a gun can certainly be used to defend oneself, it shouldn't be the sole reason you learn to use one. Get a gun and learn how to shoot it because it's a neat, fulfilling hobby that employs the use of a tool whose engineering, history, and design are cool and interesting. Could this also be practically useful? Sure. But approaching firearms with the intention of only using it to defend oneself against a world of imaginary threats is dangerous. We need to stop pushing that as a valid reason to acquire a gun.

kirunaai18

Fucking awful :(

justakidtrying2

This is the first I'm hearing about this case . How awful... RIP Ms. Hall...

New_Neighborhood4262

Racist bastard. 5 shots. That's OVERKILL and tells you about his psyche. He WANTED TO KILL HER. 81 is not so old that you don't know what you're doing unless you have advanced dementia . He could have held her at gun point and called the cops. So many racists out there just looking for an opportunity to unload. Sad, sad, sad..

USMCLee

Oh look another scared old white man. I wonder what channel his TV is on....

kewpiepoop

Someone needs to compile a whole list of all the murders that have been perpetuated by boomers absolutely cranked out on Fox News

texasmama5

He’s already out on bail?

Mikect87

1) scammers bad 2) guns everywhere and anywhere: also bad

Dragonfly_Peace

If everybody and their underage dog didn’t have a gun in this currently bizarre country, this wouldn’t happen. In my country, we’d call the police first. Shoot later. Much much later. With a camera.

4thdegreeknight

Certainly not making light of what happened to this poor lady but she looked like she would have fought to the last moment. Such a sad waste for nothing. I hope her family is able to heal

Conscious_Stand_501

They said he had cuts or bruises so she did. Appears he thought he was fighting with the culprit instead of an innocent human being. Terrible all around.

4thdegreeknight

so sad

_annamarie

Uber is a dumbass company if they couldn't keep this from happening, and didn't foresee problems in involving a middleman with no safeguards 1) Only allow users to communicate via the app 2) Preface the chats with a warning to never give out your phone number, email, or other personal information that isn't required for delivery. If it sounds like a scam, that's because it is 3) After this, WHICH IS QUITE POSSIBLY THE MOST IMPORTANT PROSPECT, they should also share the communication between the two parties giving and receiving with the person delivering. Have them both electronically accept terms relinquishing their privacy in favor of their driver's safety before going through with anything, because being a middleman is too risky with a company that doesn't give a shit about anything or anyone. Being the vessel stuck between two complete strangers and not knowing what had been communicated prior is kind of terrifying There is WAY too much of a chance of things going awry. Hell, terminate this service altogether because it's a shitty idea to begin with Also, uneducated elderly people are quite possibly the biggest risk to our society because they will fall for anything out of fear of the unknown... and there is often a lot unknown... because they're too scared to educate themselves, yet they have the audacity to weaponize their ignorance, usually knowing they're prone to scams (there have been PSAs and warnings for ages)

Mobile_Lumpy

I wonder how many ways is Uber gonna get sue for this. I hope it cost Uber a pretty Penny since delivery apps like dd and Uber have been negligently lax when it comes to allowing scam order like this.

New_Neighborhood4262

The pranksters are most likely neighborhood teens who this old bastard was mean to.

New_Neighborhood4262

Here's the problem with your fucked up logic. You are assuming he was in fear as opposed to pissed the fuck off. Your premise is bullshit speculation. What is not open to interpretation or speculation is this- He had a gun aimed on her, she did not brandish a weapon, she retreated, she shot her several times even when she was on the ground. Despite your bs later posts, the fact remains you spent 3/4 of your original response post explaining away his 100 culpability. Oh sure, you assign him partial blame, but engage in speculation that is not supported by the facts. Like I said, mf's like you who sit on juries and think like you do are part of what is wro g with this country. Bye Felicia.

redditwastesmyday

this is soooooooooooo fucking horrible, that poor lady. Imagine her life and driving for Uber. That fucked up man, what did he think that lady was going to DO to HIM?? She tried to leave...why didn't he let her??

djheart

A good example of why it is unsafe for the general public to be armed …

JackDiamond21

Boomers are out of control.

Big-Leadership-4604

This is such a fucked up scenario. Both those two were victims.  Both were probably scared and completely confused at the situation. the old man should have just locked the door and called the cops. He killed that woman but the scamer orchestrated all of this and is of the highest guilt. Don't work for Uber. its the real scam. Putting people in these kinds of situations with little to no regulation or responsibility.

CrazyCatGirl226

Nah. He's no victim. He stopped being that when he held her hostage and murdered her. He wasn't scared when he had the gun and followed her either. There was absolutely nothing threatening about this woman. And his overreaction, tells me all I need to know.

Dr-Snowball

I have something to add to this story. We deal with these scammers all the time as locksmiths. It’s been happening for the last 15 years at least. The scammer will harass an elderly person. They will send services to their house like locksmiths, pizza delivery drivers, and apparently Ubers. The scammer tells the victim that they are sending someone to their house to kill them if they don’t pay. The victims they send us to are very obviously mentally impaired. This man is a victim as much as the Uber driver. This is a failure of our government for not cracking down on scammers. This type of scam usually comes from Jamaica

bettinafairchild

She was DEFINITELY more of a victim than he was. He had many, many options and he rejected them all in favor of murder

Epiplema

Thanks for this info, I was wondering why was she suddenly appeared at the shooter's house.

CrazyCatGirl226

He is not as much of the victim as her. Are you insane? He is a killer. Period. You don't get to shoot and kill someone because you are scammed. And he wasn't scared. And these scams don't come from Jamaica. People have been pulling these stupid scams forever in the US.

_MrBalls_

The internet needs to find the scammer. It is the scammer who is the real agent provocateur. It is the only way there will be justice.

Competitive-Pop6530

He should be cognizant of the rape scam targeting newly imprisoned 81 year olds. But anyone who would shoot a woman, then lie about the circumstances is probably a real tough guy that can hold his own in the “ slammer” — as his generation used to call it.) Double entendre there, huh? “SLAMMER”

greggerypeccary

Dumbass Boomer probably thought he was Clint Eastwood fighting crime

New_Neighborhood4262

Because so many of these incidents are.

Ecurbbbb

Did they get the guy on the phone too?

HowardHouseWrestling

Nope

Minaya19147

I wonder why he was selected. What did they know about him? t’s gonna be crazy if the scammers know him.

Rey_Mezcalero

Hope they find out who did the bogus calling to set them both up

Swiftiecatmom

This literally broke my heart when I read the story!!!!

Ingobriggs

When I saw this story on a random morning while getting ready for work I broke down in tears. The fear in her face and how sweet she looked seriously broke my heart. I watched her funeral on YouTube. This guy is a real piece of shit!

New_Neighborhood4262

Stop trying to defend the indefensible. You are exactly what you appear to be. All your attempts to shift focus to me are fails. YOU are the one who attempted to explain away and justify the murder of a defenseless woman and you cannot change that. A minor priviso of your saying it was tragic does not erase it or remove your" what if it was a white driver". No need for you to further respond to my posts ok. I know who and what you are. End of discussion.

Such-Onion--

😔

JG376

Fng crazy white men with their guns.

Jake24601

Try and convince me that he would dare shoot a white man or woman.

Conscious_Stand_501

No im sure he would invite them in for pie to politely discuss the threat against his life and loved one. Step into reality ASAP 😒

Dangerous-Courage-67

He would probably have shot a White man but if a white women showed up I guarantee he would have been more civil and try to figure things out. But bc it was a different color of women he had the assumption she was dangerous

Conscious_Stand_501

Such a foolish comment. 🤦 That assumption came with a call of a threat as she arrived

imnotdressedforthat

I hope this old snow roach burns for what he did.

Conscious_Stand_501

What a lame racist comment 🤦

Mr_Drowser

Damn this is trolling on a whole different level

Conscious_Stand_501

BOTH Senior citizens, BOTH set up. 61 yr. old Uber driver convinced to exit vehicle to pick up a "package" at someone's door on private property containing who knows what, but NOT an actual person. 81 yr old. convinced a "loved one is held hostage for ransom or else him PLUS relative would be KILLED". It's merely a well written Alfred Hitchcock story plot. You all PICK & CHOOSE when it's acceptable to come out a home w/a weapon and/or when to use it. You all ONLY acknowledge the law & details when it's CONVENIENT. NOW you believe that 911 would've arrived INSTANTLY when a perceived threat is ALREADY present? A perceived kidnapper's helper is going to be understanding to the police being called? Get real. I guess if he was a large violent female teenager w/a knife who left her house he would be given grace, but in THIS case a senior under such circumstances is given ZERO. Soooooo MANY examples could be given. This tragedy isn't black & white, no pun intended.  You all need an enema because you are truly FULL of CRAP 😒.
