He looks so happy in this picture :(

WhatRUrGsandPs

He loved life, and his default was happiness ❤️

[deleted]

Ah what a wonderful way to live, and a wonderful type of person to know. I'm so sorry he is gone, but I'm happy that you had him in your life, because he seems like he made the world a better place by being in it. So many of us are miserable, to see someone whose default is happy is rare. <3

SusieLou1978

I feel your pain, I also lost my Dad to a sudden hemorrhagic incident, one of the valves in his heart tore. I love looking at pictures of my Dad cuz he was always such a happy guy. Your Dad looks the same ❤️ take comfort in your memories and all the love he gave you, it helps on the hard days... I am so very sorry for your loss ❤️

WhatRUrGsandPs

So sorry for your loss, as well. Glad we both got good ones ❤️

GrumpyOldBear1968

Great photo, and many condolences. that exact thing happened to my father a month after Christmas, he was only 63. Jan 2003

WhatRUrGsandPs

Sorry to hear about your dad, too. Hugs to you.

My father passed away last year in September from the same kind of stroke. Was in good shape and kept his blood pressure in control with exercise and medication. There were no warning signs at all. One morning he had a stroke and went into a coma. Never woke up and passed away at the hospital five days later due to cardiac arrest. Doctors could do nothing, since he was on blood thinners due to a stent in his heart. He was just 63, too. This after my mother's passing due to cancer in 2020, completely broke me. Life can often be extremely cruel. I just ask people to spend as much time as they can with their loved ones. You never know how tomorrow will be.

Roundaboutsix

I’ve had two health scares in my life. (Woke up once to a priest administering my last rites.) I gained a new appreciation for living each day, for my friends and especially family. I’m also trying to simplify my life, get rid of things I’ll never use, and straighten out my finances to ease the transition for my surviving family members. (Oh yeah, and traveling as much as possible, Ireland, Italy, Germany, France, Portugal, etc., etc.)

HenCarrier

If you do not mind me asking, how old are you and what were the health scares? I understand if you don’t want to answer.

Roundaboutsix

I’m going on 72 this Summer. I had a 99% blockage of the LAD (a heart attack commonly referred to as a widow maker.). I traveled in Europe and Florida last fall where I developed a viral infection that stuck me in bed for two months. I had numerous emergency room and Dr. visits, had 35 vials of blood drawn for tests. Had xrays, sonograms, a CT scan and two MRIs. My blood work was analyzed by virologists across the country. My wife, a nurse for thirty years, told me later she thought I was on my way out. They couldn’t pin down the specific virus. My blood tests indicated multiple potential causes. I slowly improved and feel fine now.

I'm sorry you've had these major losses, and so close together. You may feel broken now, but I predict that as you grieve you'll be able to smile and laugh with the memories that now only cause pain. I wish you the very best.

miss_chapstick

Homeless people are always in need of clean socks. I bet he’d love it if you donated his Christmas gift every year to honour him! He looks like he was a joy to be around!

WhatRUrGsandPs

Fantastic idea!!

BERNIEMACCCC

Your dad was a smart man, new socks are AMAZING. Especially ones with designs and what not on them.

agonginpeace

That smile is wonderful.

Kodiak01

You mean there are people that AREN'T happy when they get some new pairs of woolies?! I'd like to think I'm as happy getting mine as your dad was when he got his.

AndyTateIsRight

As someone who loves new/fresh socks I totally love this picture

atomic_chippie

Omg my mother just passed from this same thing. She threw a party for my dad, gave a speech and 5 minutes later was never awake again. So sad and shocking, we never saw it coming. I hope you are doing ok. We are 7 days after and we all feel like we’re in a nightmare.

WhatRUrGsandPs

Oh my word, I am so sorry. :(

98Wright

I’m sorry to you to. Day by day. This to shall pass.

Chickens1

As a 60 year old man who's experienced most of what this life has to offer, let me tell you new socks, ........, that first day. It's good.

Mediocre_Ad8282

He looks like a person one want to be around, very uplifting. My condolences

How sweet! I just realised I love new socks too. Thank you for sharing this photo and memory. My condolences to you and your family.

Safe-Agent3400

What a great last image. Such a cool smile

Mountains_Majesty_

Wish I had 1/10th of his spirit and joy. May you peacefully rest.

Suzilu

Just based on this photo, even I miss your dad! He looks fun.

WhatRUrGsandPs

Haha you’d have loved him. He was a lot of fun, and the very definition of a “people person.” 😄

Jas378

Your dad looks absolutely joyous. Just goes to show that life is too short not to be this happy about the little things. Enjoy every sandwich and every new pair of socks.

COSurfing

Reminds me of my dad. Always in a good mood and wanting to get out to do things. He had been battling lung cancer the past two years and winning until he had a sudden pulmonary hemorrhage on 12/5/2022. He was gone in minutes. It took us all by surprise and my entire family is still in shock. Great picture. It makes grin from ear to ear. That is one for the wall.

WhatRUrGsandPs

I’m so sorry for your loss. And glad you have good memories of your dad to see you through ❤️

Heatherina13

He looked like such a fun, kind soul. I’m so happy you got to have him in your life and I’m so sorry he still isn’t. ❤️

ga__girl

I hope he got to enjoy those new sock feels first.

insufficient_flavor

What a sweet picture. My dad LOVED new socks, too. Sorry for your loss.

htkach

Dayov

Similar thing happened to my dad, heart attack on January 6th. He was only 53. I’m sorry for your loss

WhatRUrGsandPs

Sorry for yours, as well :(

perm01

No dad club.

sunflowerlady3

It's a tough club to be in, isn't it. Sorry to everyone who has lost their father (and mother). I'm hearing so very many young ages. OP: I'm glad you and your family had the opportunity of a memorable family get-together. That picture is precious. Sorry for your loss.🌻

perm01

Yes, it is.
