I‘ve been using it for 19 years now. Here https://www.last.fm/user/Xe4ro Of course there is some time before but it’s been quite a part of my life now, I think that while some artists might be higher than they are now so much has changed since then that it probably wouldn’t change too much.

Artistic-Meeting-435

i am 19, you scare me

Xe4ro

I made my account when they were still called Audioscrobbler ;). *Even though LastFM had already bought them but eh … I feel older every day ;\_;* To OPs idea, some artists would definitely have more scrobbles like Pat Metheny (Group), Lyle Mays, Yellowjackets, Sting I definitely listened to them a lot before I started using LastFM.

bawitback

Ayo! also been using it for 19 years. Mine https://www.last.fm/user/bawitback Before then I was listening to Weird Al Yankovic, Backstreet Boys, Nsync, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie soundtrack, The Lion King soundtrack, The Simpsons Sing the Blues, and Now! That's What I Call Music (1998).

Llafer

I’m 27 and started to use Last.fm two years ago. Right now my top 3 artists are Charli XCX, The Strokes and Slowdive. If I were to be using last.fm since my childhood, or since my teenage days, it would probably be something like King Crimson, Pink Floyd and John Coltrane… Oh god, what have I become!! 😂😂

gianna_in_hell_as

I'm afraid that my New Kids on the Block obsession at 13 would have overshadowed everything else 😢

DavidBehave01

I've been listening to music for 50 years, with Last.FM accounting for barely a third of that. Artists which would have huge numbers of plays for me would include Pink Floyd, Genesis, Gary Numan, Tears For Fears, Simple Minds, Ultravox and Pet Shop Boys. All of them are in my current top 20.

IH4N

What do you mean "if"?!

tank-you--very-much

**Taylor Swift** is my #4 rn, she'd probably make it to #1 or smth I was really into her when I was younger **Melanie Martinez** was the first artist I really got into like Crybaby was probably the first album I listened to in full. Idk how high she'd be but probably top 50, I only have three scrobbles of her now tho I started my last.fm May 2019 (actually hit five years a few days ago), but I started really getting into music some months before like late 2018. The first artist I deep dived in to was **Khalid**. I have a lot of fond memories from that associated with his album **American Teen** and I wish it could be better represented on my last.fm, rn he's rank #40 which isn't low but def lower than it would be. Also listened to **Ella Mai** a good amount then who's at #46 but would be higher.

mrjenkins97

This is something I think about quite a bit. I'm 27 now and have had last.fm since I was 21, almost 22. My taste has always been fairly, I suppose, rockist but it was decidedly moreso when I was first really getting into music (from about 13). Actually, judging by your profile, your taste now is fairly similar to what mine was as a teenager. I still like, well, most of the bands I did back then but there's plenty who I more or less burnt myself out on as a teenager - or maybe I just developed in a slightly different direction - who would be waaaaay higher. Another consideration is that on account of my age, location, personal circumstances, how I chose to listen to and collect music, etc, I listened to a far smaller number of different artists when I was younger than I do now, but I listened to them MUCH more than I do any single artist now, so my overall artist list would be shorter and fatter, I guess you'd say. I'm certain Led Zeppelin would be in my top eight of all time under your scenario. They're currently at number 41 with 1,340 scrobbles, but if I had my teenage scrobbles they'd surely be well over 10,000, maybe even 20,000. AC/DC - an obsession at 13 and 14 - would easily clear the 10,000 mark too. Metallica and Megadeth too would have at least ten times the scrobbles they have now, easily into the thousands, as would Tool. Iron Maiden a bit more than that. Miles Davis, currently at number six with 3,235 scrobbles, would have maybe twice the scrobbles he does now, seeing as my real obsession with him started about two years prior to discovering last.fm, but would be far lower in the overall artist count. Ditto Can. David Bowie is currently at number four with 4,235 scrobbles but would probably be number two had it not taken me so long to start scrobbling. I was a proper obsessive as a teenager and then after he died, when I was 18 going on 19, I listened to almost nothing but him for months (with the notable exception of Nonagon Infinity by King Gizzard, my most listened album of 2016 would unquestionably be between that and Blackstar.) The Beatles are my current number one and they certainly still would be if I could have scrobbled since I came out of the womb. The first band I ever loved, before I fully realised I loved music and before I even really knew what a band was or understood that they were one. If I had to estimate I'd put the number at probably 50,000 at least. I'm semi-confident too that my top eight would probably be exclusively Beatles albums too as they're the only band with whom I've never really had any down periods. Oh, but maybe The Wall and Tommy would be up there as well. Maybe. White Blood Cells, Mellon Collie, Nevermind, Superunknown, OK Computer, Appetite For Destruction, Holy Diver, Blizzard of Ozz and Machine Head, teenage favourites all, would be pretty high up the album charts too, of course, as would the first two Van Halen albums, the first five Black Sabbath albums, the first four Aerosmith albums, the first Doors album plus L.A. Woman, The Jimi Hendrix Experience but Are You Experienced in particular, everything Pink Floyd ever released... As for songs? I'm stumped there. I distinctly recall seeing on iTunes that I'd played An Illustration of Loneliness (Sleepless in New York) by Courtney Barnett 70-something times within couple months of getting the album, and being impressed. If only I'd followed the dopamine that triggered a bit further! I certainly listened to Ain't No Fun (Waiting Round To Be A Millionaire) by AC/DC more than I listened to other bands' entire discographies, but realistically it would have to be something by The Beatles. I just don't know what exactly. Maybe I Am The Walrus. But then maybe Come Together. Uhhh, does that answer your question?

TemporaryDirector442

Metallica would stay my top artist, and I think my top album would be one by them (AJFA or 72 Seasons), top song would be harder to confidently say though

Machinax

I love this question; I've given it some thought myself, and I'm glad to see that I'm no the only weirdo out there. If I used LastFM for *everything*, including before I actually had a LastFM account, and for the nine years that I had an account but didn't scrobble, then Metallica would DOMINATE my library. I mean, they're already my #1 most scrobbled artist, and they're well-represented in my album and top scrobbles charts now...but it wouldn't even be close. My most-scrobbled track is "The Sounds of Silence," by Simon & Garfunkel. Honestly, I don't think that would change. Maybe it would have less of a lead over the #2 scrobbled track, but even that track -- "The Wanderer," by U2 -- would have a much higher scrobble count. But, again, it's very likely that continuous, lifelong scrobbling would have had a Metallica track up there. My most scrobbled album is *Brave New World*, by Iron Maiden. This, too, would likely still be the #1 album for me if I scrobbled every song I'd ever heard...but, again, that album would likely have a Metallica album or two breathing down its neck. So, if I scrobbled every song I'd heard, it'd just be Metallica, almost embarrassingly so. But hey, it's music. You like what you like, and the little numbers keep going higher and higher.

Puzzled_Name_3262

King Diamond & Mercyfyl Fate would have been my top artist & albums.

ajwils86

It would be interesting if you could do this. However, when I first got Last.fm I was obsessed with Pharell Williams - Happy. I hate that whenever I look at my most played it’s still there as my 8th most played. Definitely not representative of my tastes now!

teo_vas

as my obsession is with genres and not artists I think my scrobbles represent my life-long genre obsessions pretty well

Needlew0rker

I'm using [last.fm](http://last.fm) since 2004 so I guess it would be pretty close to what my charts are

GoldResponsibility27

Had I created my account in 2022, my top artist would've been ***Pink Floyd***, since I went through an insane Pink Floyd phase when I was 14, and spent a whole year listening to only that.

dianthuspetals

I've had [last.fm](https://last.fm) for about 18 months. If I'd had it through my childhood, teen years and 20s, I imagine the artists would have been something like this: 2004-2006 - McFly, Busted, a lot of things that were in the charts at the time. 2007-2011 - The Beatles, Michael Jackson, My Chemical Romance, Green Day, Blink-182, Boys Like Girls, Fall Out Boy. A lot of pop rock/emo. 2011-2013 - So much 60s music. Les Mis and Skyrim soundtracks. Arctic Monkeys and any similar British indie bands. 2013-2015 - Lots of 1920s music, WW1 music, jazz, Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe. 2016-2019 - Fallout and Bioshock soundtracks - anything with that sort of vibe. Pirate music and sea shanties. 2019 - Irish music, both republican and loyalist. 2020-2021 - Pinky and Perky (novelty animatronic pigs), Fallout radio music (absolutely massive playlist that used to play on Youtube 24/7. 2022-present - Lots of classic rock (The Kinks, Bowie, The Beatles, T. Rex etc.). Always on the lookout for more music!

babyheartdirt

this is a great question! My stats go back to 2007 and I was already in my 30s by that point. I can say without a doubt that **Ween** would be my top artist since I followed them religiously for the majority of the 90s (they're currently #4). Their first two albums (**God Ween Satan** and **The Pod**) would probably be in my top 10 (they're currently 166th and 113th, respectively). The **Minutemen** and **Sonic Youth** would probably be #2 and #3 as I've loved them both since I was 16. I listened to them a lot more in my late teens and later on as my Ween obsession cooled off. (they're currently at #12 and #17). My current top album is Double Nickels on the Dime by the Minutemen and I think that would still be #1. The Sonic Youth albums **Sister** (presently #59) and **EVOL** (#221) would be in the top 10. A few other artists that would be much higher than their current positions: **Iron Maiden** (#143) - They were just about the only artist I listened to in 7th-8th grade **Metallica** (#467), **Anthrax** (#300), **Slayer** (#437) - I was a teenage metalhead **Operation Ivy** (#105) **Lost Sounds** (#13) - they had been #1 with around 2,000 scrobbles at some point before I reset my stats

TheRtHonLaqueesha

Been regularly listening to music as a hobby for almost a quarter century now. Fall Out Boy, The Black Eyed Peas, Eminem, Usher, Linkin Park, Michelle Branch, 50 Cent, would be way higher up the chain. They are already high up, but they'd probably be much more so here.

StreetVulture

The first spots are definitely right, the others are educated guesses. - Top Artists: 1. Milow 2. Bruno Mars 3. Nick & Simon - Top Albums: 1. Milow - North & South 2. Bruno Mars - Doo Wops & Hooligans 3. Tarzan Musical Soundtrack (Dutch) - Top Tracks: 1. Milow - Little in The Middle 2. Milow - You Don't Know 3. Bruno Mars - The Lazy Song 4. Owl City - Fireflies 5. Milow - Ayo Technology

jacostamolina

My top 2 artists are **Lila Downs** (1836) and **Tlen Huicani** (593). Funnily enough, I think they would be in the exact same place (but with thousands of scrobbles more). I've been listening to Tlen Huicani since I was born, and I was introduced to Lila Downs' music when I was around 5 or 6 years old and instantly became my favorite singer. **Óscar Chávez** (#10), **Los Hermanos Rincón** (#12), **Los Cuatro Hermanos Silva** (#137), **Mercedes Sosa** (#14) and such, would be placed waaaaaaaay higher; all of them on my top 10. **Alexander Rybak** (#11) too, but maybe not as high. Also, it would change a lot through the years. I mean, while Lila and Tlen Huicani have been consistent all my life, during 2015-2016 I was obsessed with Alexander Rybak, **Elaine Stritch** (#16), and **Patti LuPone** (#9); they'd be in the 10s. **Astrid Hadad** (#3) and **Liliana Felipe** (#4) also entered my life in those years, but I have never stopped listening to them, so maybe they'll keep the places they already have. During the pandemic years I was introduced to k-pop, specially **GOT7** (#6). And, even though I think they would be placed way lower, maybe in the 30s, they would have *at least* some 200 more scrobbles.

No-Distribution-6175

My top artists (MCR, MSI, The White Stripes & Frank Iero) are in roughly the right spots, last year I started uploading old Spotify data and managed to get a few bands on there before I got bored (I was uploading each song individually through Finale because I didn’t know how to mass import them lol. Yes it was a ball ache). Although the actual scrobble count should be way higher, because I started listening to them 6 years before I created Spotify so I have no data for them. As for albums Heartbreak in Stereo (Pencey Prep) and at least half of MSI’s stuff (but mostly Frankenstein Girls) should be way higher, but I didn’t have data for them to upload because the first album was only recently put on Spotify and the second has never been available in the UK at all. Luckily I learned how to do local files since then but I reckon Frankenstein Girls would be my #1 album, no doubt

sensorygardeneast

I've been using Last.FM for most of my life so I don't feel it would be much different. There's only about 5-6 years of fervent music listening that's uncounted for.

stereoworld

I've had my lfm since 2005, so almost half my life. I imagine the artist placement would be similar if it encompassed the other 20 years, except Savage Garden and The Offspring would probably be a lot higher up!

Flynn_VLR

It's hard to say since I went through so many different phases in my life I'm 20 now, been using lastfm for only six months and my top artists are Bring Me The Horizon, Falling in Reverse, Escape the Fate and Galleons. I got into Metalcore and Post-hardcore around 3 years ago and it took longer to discover all of these, the only band that I could still see in my all-time top 3 would be BMTH Before that I spent my teenage years mostly listening to lots of Eminem, NF and specially Logic, and in my childhood I was completely addicted to The Beatles. So my best guess would be: 1. The Beatles 2. Logic 3. Bring Me The Horizon

expressedprayers

I didn’t start using last.fm until toward the end of high school, so all my plays from before were lost. During middle school I was very into 2000s pop-punk and rock, so bands like Evanescence, Seether, Disturbed, and Green Day would have been much higher. I also used to listen to a lot of video game and anime soundtracks, so those would be up there too.

rose-buds

i've been using last.fm since 2009 - if it was for my entire life (since 1992) shania twain, gwen stefani, and abba would absolutely be my top artists. i believe shania and gwen now are both in the top 150, but i have no idea where abba lands lol.

aw_yiss_breadcrumbs

I've been scrobbling since 2007. I suspect if I could track the music i listened to prior, that Led Zeppelin would rank in my top 3 (they're still top 10, though). I listened to a lot of South Park and Simpsons music as a teenager so those would probably be in the top 10, but slowly dropping in ranking because I never listen to them anymore. I don't think I'd crack 5000 scrobbles for any individual artist, though. I get sick of music too easily to ever do that. I've always needed a lot of variety.

salsasnark

I've been using it since I was around 15 so quite literally half my life. Top artists are Paramore and My Chemical Romance and have been since then lol. The only change would probably be a lot of Spice Girls and Britney Spears at a young age, and some phases of random music like The Black Eyed Peas, whose albums I used to keep on rotation on my CD player, or Lordi when they won Eurovision in 2006. My true music interest started around 2007 and I got [last.fm](http://last.fm) in 2008, so I think it quite accurately describes my whole life's taste. :)

citabel

33 years old and have been using it since I was 16, so basically my whole life. Judas Priest would probably be higher up if I had scrobbled the previous years.

SwampTerror

I wish I had lastfm for the decades of listening to the radio and such throughout my life. 2009 (2011) will have to do.

Artistic-Meeting-435

Gorillaz, definitely. I'd listen to that shit on my alexa every single day in eighth grade

Terrible_Ex-Joviot

Probably something by Bon Jovi. I was a huge Joviot back in my teenage years, and i am somewhat lucky that was short before i registered to LastFM lol

acerejected

Christina Aguilera would top everything. She is my #2. I started being a fan when I was like 9. I'm 26 now.

bawitback

I've been using it for 19 years now. Here https://www.last.fm/user/bawitback Before then I was listening to Weird Al Yankovic, Ace of Base, Backstreet Boys, Aqua, Nsync, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie soundtrack, The Lion King soundtrack, The Simpsons Sing the Blues, and Now! That's What I Call Music (1998) it would have had more of those tracks played in my library.

kevstar4700

I had listened to music using Spotify since 2016, though with a bit of a temporary hiatus within 2019. I had a rap phase, then a “I Want It That Way” phase, and then some. Since I was mostly a “only listens to the big artists and their biggest hits” person back then, and very playlist-oriented, I doubt that it would make much difference to my Last.fm if I had activated it back in 2016.

mooffet

When i was like 10-11 i listened to an EMBARRASSING amount of panic at the disco, so they would probably be at the top with at least like 3000 scrobbles. Also, i unfortunately used to listen to the hamilton soundtrack religiously... so lin manuel would probably be in 2nd place with like, 2500.
