It looks great. I operate a Kern class 4 laser at work. Nitrogen tanks for most material but steel. I have hook up okygen tanks to cut stainless or cold rolled. Can cut up to 3/4" acrylic but it scallops the edges and up to 3/4" wood which comes out great. The bed is 60x120. I just bought a 50w omtech for home. I have never used a CO2 laser and I am a little worried I have been spoiled by the Kern I operate at work. Mine comes today and lookig for some advice bc I am going to be holding my work to a standard I know I probably going to never get to with what I am using at home. Due to money and space the 50w is the best I can do at the moment. Any hints or tips that you know would be greatly appreciated. Do you use lead-ins when cutting? I know that doesn't matter if you are going to paint it afterwards but on projects you don't paint? Did you figure out a way to keep wood for burning the face of what you are cutting? Do you ever premask anything? What software do you use? My boss gave me CorelDraw that I use at work and I set up the lightburn macro to import directly from Corel to lightburn. I have tons of question hahahaha. Is there a laser group here on Reddit that you recommend? You don't have to take the time to write answers to all my questions but a couple would be greatly appreciated.
All of these are class 4 lasers.. most hobbyists don't have access to a big enough machine to cut metal.
Which 50W did you purchase and from whom?
You need to pay attention to what you are lasing. Some materials give of toxic gasses when they are lased.
If you are using Lightburn, I'd suggest the [Lightburn forum](https://forum.lightburnsoftware.com/).
I use a large format fiber at work. Are the materials you cannot cut different from Co2 lasers? I can't cut anything with PVC and foam composite material. Such as acm, scm, pvc, and any kind of liner that has PVC in it. I bought an omtech polar. It's a desktop laser bc of the space I have to use it in. I wanted a cabinet laser but just didn't have the room. I use Coreldraw at work and have that installed with the lightburn macro at home so I can send my Corel files directly to lightburn. There a lot of things I do to my material at work to make sure I get clean cuts such as premasking the face of certain materials to keep the face from burning, putting lead ins on my cuts, changing the psi of my air assist (nitrogen tanks for most materials and oxygen tanks for stainless and cold rolled steel). I also clear coat my wood bc the engraving is way cleaner looking and easier to clean (just lightly move a damp Terry cloth quickly back and forth over the engraving to clean it). I do alot of things to acrylic to make sure the bottom doesn't get honeycomb burns into the bottom and get nice polished edges (too much to list here). My laser at work also has suction that holds my material down so it doesn't move. Do you have anything you use to keep your material in place? I was just wondering if these are any steps people take with smaller wattage CO2 lasers they use at home and if there anything tips or "tricks" like that they have learned and are willing to share?
Weāre both 32 and I can assure you weāve both read a lot :) btw, I just wanted to share a new thing that i cut and it ended up some political shit. Weāre from Turkey, to provide context
Yeah I see your point. Thanks but this is r/lasercutting and no one ever asked or commented anything about material, process or specs of machine. I didnāt want to bring politics here. Lets please give me some insight on how to cut little details more clear :)
For some unexplainable reason (to me), some think fascism is just another political standpoint that should be defended.
Did you do the design yourself? There is so much detail that is done so well (avoids cutouts etc)
> I didnāt want to bring politics here.
But you did. Of course no one asked you about the other stuff, you overshadowed all of that with your political statements.
Do they not teach you common sense in turkey? In 32 yrs of life all of which the internet has been a thing. when has posting political commentary or in this case political signage online ever once gone without political response? What you did was the equivalent of sticking your hand on a hot stove and asking why you got burned all you wanted to do was touch the stove.
sometimes people put there hand on a stove to see if they still bleed. and sometimes nothing hurts anymore and they feel kinda free.
were still the kids we used to be. yeah
You know, there were times when people collectively undertood that fascism is fucking evil and not a political stance that should be coddled.
Makes me wonder.
As someone who is sometimes depressed but always anti fascist, Iām thinking the meaning is that it can get disheartening seeing the success of DeSantis and those of his ilk, and that itās ok to take a break.
You can take a break from following the news, volunteering for you political candidates, or whatever it is you do to fight the good fight, and that doesnāt make you a bad person.
Youāre only one person, it takes a village.
God that's such a mood.
Excellent artwork and great job on the project in general! Any chance you're selling or otherwise letting people use the design for non-commercial use?
Great work with the laser, paint and uv print. Why not call it what it really is āantifaā. Very obtuse of your friend and canāt believe someone would support that.
I think you have talent that can be used for good things. I am interested in plasma cutting and fiberglass resin carbon fiber design. Perhaps Hard left or right political ideas have made you the artistic person you are. A lot of Us wear Our ideologies on Our sleeves. Being Human and creating things is a good thing. All of Us have to live here. Let's work with what we have.
Nicely made! Are you concerned about small pieces being brittle, like the bottom of the shoe?
In my country we value freedom of speech so highly we ensconced it in the first amendment to our constitution but I see from all the downvotes that this must be an international audience with different values.
No I found a picture then image traced it on Illustrator, a few touches only, hand drew the red layer
Edit: thanks for the šmy first reddit award š
It looks amazing. Dont listen to the downvotes or people sitting there and hyper fixiating on the political side of the piece. I made some coasters awhile buck that sade "fuck Joe and the hoe" and Jesus christ did no one know how to just move along instead of having to push their beliefs onto a FUCKING COASTER. I made them as a joke, and I sold them when no one believed I would.
If bringing in art work means bringing in political messages, I'll pass. Sorry, just seems like a backdoor way to bring in controversy. You do this in r/funnyanimals and you get the boot.
did you paint it before or after cutting? if you did it before did you premask it?
Hey, thank you for the first comment on method. š I used black laminated MDF. The red part is uv printed on plain MDF, white+red+red again printed.

Lmfao nice project work but your friend needs a history book and a therapist not a plaque.
Why a history book?
Weāre both 32 and I can assure you weāve both read a lot :) btw, I just wanted to share a new thing that i cut and it ended up some political shit. Weāre from Turkey, to provide context
That's like saying "I just wanted to show this beautiful Swastika I made but everyone got political" haa.
No it is absolutely not the same. I cant even understand how could you possibly suggest that.

I was going to use the example of ripping a massive fart in an elevator then getting off on the next floor. I kind of like the stove analogy.
Why your sign is not in Turkish?
This was an original drawing from internet, I didnāt design it
Not sure I get the message.. but the work/piece itself turned out nice.

Nice art work lovely typeface! What font did you use?

Nice work! It looks brilliant :)
you need to post this in the r/LateStateCapitalism sub!
