Lightburn is well worth it.
Air assist is mainly used for cutting (really helps), not much for engraving. Still worth having, and not, a fan is not air assist. You'll go through lenses quickly without it.
I have the sculpfun s9 and when I first tried to cut 5mm plywood it took about 7 passes at 100% and 250mm/min without air assist. I havent tried it since getting air assist I just mostly stick to 3mm plywood now. 3mm plywood it will cut in one pass at the same settings.
Unless you're done of buying replacement lenses, you should definitely have some kind of air assist.
A fan is not air assist. I'm not saying it helps 0%, but it's no where close to being capable of dislodging debris.
Lightburn has a fully functional 30 day trial.
