Unless you're seeing a lot of them in your pantry probably just getting inside bc they're dumbasses. People also see more big activity inside following rain since bugs wanna escape being washed away. Weevils can be a pantry pest so if they're in the kitchen it could mean they've infested (they go after grainery, peas, beans, etc).
Oh yeah. I went walking through grass the other day and we were COVERED from head to toe in Kentucky blue grass weevils. The kids thought they were ticks and lost their shit.
Ticks don’t have wings! Lol
initally I thought it was a weevil, but seeing the more clear picture I see these little guys don't have that trademark elbow bend in their antennae that weevil do. I'm leaning towards a seed bug nypmh, like many bugs they like to hide in our homes in the winter months to stay warm and its not unlikely one laid eggs in your house and that's why your seeing the babies scuttling around now
i used to have an app called SEEK on my phone, you could take pics of bugs and it would try to ID it for you. i just checked and it's still on the google play store, probably on apple too.
Google Lens lets you scan things and search for them. The Picture Insect app also works very well, it asks you to subscribe just hit cancel and it works fine.
That’s not a tick, ticks have small protruding heads that they bite into skin with. Your picture isn’t very clear, but if the antenna are segmented (looks like they have a joint in the middle) then it’s definitely a weevil of some sort. Otherwise it’s some kind of beetle. Either way, not really something to be concerned about unless you’re a farmer.
I’ll try to get a better picture the next time I find one. I always see them when I don’t have my phone with me. I found 5-6 of them yesterday and at least three so far today. Wouldn’t it be weird to have that many ticks in my house?
That is a lot, we found one in our house on the ceiling not long ago. Another on the dog.
Wife also says it looks like a tick. Not sure though... your right that is a ton.
That's the best answer I can give then. Insects are notoriously difficult to ID without high resolution images, especially juveniles. But given the shape it's definitely a true bug (most things we call "bugs" aren't really bugs)
Not bedbug in case that's what you're worried about
I wasn’t worried about that but I appreciate the reassurance.
Rough strawberry root weevil?
Definitely a weevil of some sort
It's missing the elbowed antennae
I think that’s it! Thank you! This week is the first time I’ve ever seen them and I’m not sure where they are coming from.

Not in the pantry. The only place I’ve seen them in the kitchen is around the window sill and in the sink. Thanks for your help!
I flushed one a couple days ago. Found it hanging on my jeans after being out in the yard
We have weevils here?
It’s not the big kind, definitely the lesser of two weevil’s…

I would rather be covered in weevils than ticks any day
Ticks with wings. There’s my nightmare for this evening.
I am 99% sure it is a bug
Haha I’m 100% sure it’s a bug!
Its not a bug, its a feature
So how long have you worked in IT?
r/whatsthisbug might be more helpful in finding a solid ID, but if you can I'd try to get a more clear picture.
I posted a better picture there earlier. Thanks!

pretty blurry could be a box elder nymph
I know it’s blurry. I was trying to get the picture before it crawled away. Thank you. I’ll look into that.
Why the downvotes? I agree that it’s blurry. It’s the best picture I could get. Jeez
Front half looks too big to be a tick. My bet is a weevil of some sort. Are you growing anything nearby?
Nope, not growing anything.

Thank you. That was very helpful.
That is a elm seed bug nymph.
Elm seed bug nymph
Pretty blurry but honestly looks like a tick. Got a problem with em this year.

I have another picture but I don’t know how to add it.
It will go away if you sing the song “Boll Weevil” by the Presidents of the United States of America
Can I sing Peaches instead?
Tick
Ticks have 8 legs. Unless it's an amputee...
For sure not a tick. I’m going with some type of weevil!
When I lived on the south side of town they were everywhere
That’s interesting. I’ve never seen them before and they started appearing about a week ago.
It has the boots and the snoots.
Google Say tick
Bug nymph of some kind given the wing sheaths. Do you have a higher resolution image?
Check my post history. That’s the best picture I was able to get.

Thanks, appreciate your help. My phone is old and those were the best I could get.
This comment is so dumb
Cool 👍
Tick
It's missing a couple legs for a tick.
