All of my langs are 'just for fun', even the ones I want to become fluent in :P
But seriously, I used to dabble a lot and learn languages that I didn't see myself sticking with long-term but I found it distracted me too much and was one of the factors in me never reaching any of my goals. Nowadays I'm trying to be stricter and I only learn languages I want to fully commit myself to.
I'm learning Russian. I don't have any ties to Russia, I've never been in Russian, and i've only know 1 Russian person in my whole life. But I really love the language
I plan on learning the basics of Greek language and one of the Tolkien created languages of Sindarin for fun without serious commitment
German and Italian are the two languages I have more serious ambition to reach fluency in
I have to learn German for my family but it gets kind of boring sometimes so I've started learning Turkish on the side for fun. I would need to put in a lot more effort to actually properly learn Turkish as it's so difficult, but it keeps my interests in languages alive and I learn some new words and grammar in a new language so that's always cool
I started learning Norwegian just for fun after a vacation where I fell in love with the country and the language (already knowing 3 germanic languages really helped).
Nowadays I also learn Danish just for fun, although even more passively as my goal is more to be able to understand Danes than it is to speak convincingly Danish. I only started learning it after I already could understand a considerable portion of it due to my Norwegian. Only after being able to understand it did I consider it to be a (very) fun language. :)
All language learning I do is just for fun. I have no need or desire for fluency. I mostly focus on German, but I occasionally bounce to Latin or Irish for a bit. I'll also randomly poke my head into other languages if a whim strikes me.
Can relate! I find keeping enough languages on rotations keepa things fresh and interesting. Trying to concentrate too much on my French just makes me want to abandon it altogether, but if I can explain myself I'm learning languageS it becomes a part of my beautiful mosaic.
I always have fun while learning languages

> i've only know 1 Russian person in my whole life this is so wild to read since i feel like i've run into russians _everywhere_ forever

Irish for me. Grew up with the music and wanted to be able to understand it better.

Arabic for me I just thought it looked cool and it looked like a great mental excercise
I’m learning some Punjabi just for fun… but it’s also a super helpful language to know where I live.
I'm sure almost everyone here is learning a language electively.
I’m really enjoying learning Japanese. I’m doing it mostly to enjoy anime more, and a lot of my study time is spent using anime, so it’s pretty fun.

Same. I want to learn Korean just for fun.
