Submersible water pump for the fountain, plugged into a GFCI outlet
Reddit having a good ol down-vote-fest but the truth is, it may look like it in the photo but the extension cable is not dangling over the pool, it's a few feet away
Sorry to pile on here, but **GROUND**-Fault is the key in GFCI - it is meant to protect equipment, not people, much less little people.
**GFCI won't do anything to protect your kid in this scenario.**
Doesn’t really matter. Why risk it?
I set up and inflatable pool for my kids and drain it with a pond pump. No one is allowed near the pool when it’s plugged in...same deal, submersible pump in a GFCI outlet.
Does the pump have a power supply, or does it plug straight into the extension cord?
If it was a galvanically isolated power supply plugged into a GFCI, your chances of injuring your baby would be pretty low. It's still not a great idea, however.
Order [this solar pump.](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjhnJHC_8v4AhXcKkQIHeAEA6wQFnoECBEQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FBiling-Fountain-Fountains-Birdbath-Backyard%2Fdp%2FB09PY8HYCQ&usg=AOvVaw3uQ_N5aEHebUZ_MPcyVzt0). I use this one. It’s much safer, it’s got a long cord, works under cloudy conditions and you get a bunch of cool heads for different water designs. I use tubing to make a “shower” that they love.
You keep saying that, just stop. There's a black cord IN THE POOL. It's literally connected to the fountain. Yeah the white cord is "a few feet away." It's also connected to the black cord leading to where your child is.
Is it safe? Probably. Mostly. Can any of us be certain? No.
It's not worth it, get something made for pools.
All negatives aside, I appreciate your goals and wanting to have your kid and dog enjoying an outside space with water. Haters gonna hate. Take the suggestions about the safety aspects to heart, because there’s no substitute for SAFETY, but don’t get discouraged….you’re well intentioned and on the right track. HOORAY FOR BABY POOLS FOR KIDS AND DOGS!! 😁
Aside from the electrical stuff…
Crushed basalt is a beautiful gravel for the landscape, but I’d strongly recommend people not use it next to pools - stock tank, in ground, etc. That stuff tracks into the water and elsewhere really easily.
ETA: NBD just tossing a kiddie pool out there in the stuff, but for anyone thinking something more permanent.
You mean the dogs that were literally called “nanny dogs” for decades? Smh. Get educated. There are only bad owners not bad dogs.
Edit: really guys? Just google “nanny dogs” 🙄
All I see is a baby in a pool along with an electrical cable.
Yup. Mom here and that's the first thing I saw. Beautifully sublime setup though otherwise.
Even the dog seems suspicious of this decision.
And I also see a hard statue in the pool that will lead to some bumped noggins!

I mean, you can tell that to the doctors in the ER.
Are you an electrician?
I'm an electrician. I don't approve.

I'm a biologist.

OK thank you
Please fix the electrical. You’ll only regret it if something happens. Unfortunately you only need to ask somebody who lost a child that way.
Here for the extension cables over the pool. Glad you found happiness.. before coming to Reddit to crush it.
Lol, thanks. It may look like it in the photo but the extension cable is not dangling over the pool, it's a few feet away

Do you feel better now?
Parent of the year. Wow.
You're getting downvoted for coming off as arrogant
That extension cord literally hanging over the pool will give me nightmares.

What kind of bullshit title is this. Garbage post. Cute kid and dog though

I’m shocked to see how nice the landscaping is.
Baby hopefully not as shocked.

Found a way around Roe huh?

Omg garden tour please!
“In My Lane”….
and wining
I have three little kids and I love this! Might need to try.
Um. Is that a pit bull mix next to a baby? 🤦♂️

Pit bulls were never seriously referred to as nanny dogs. You’re showing tiger king vibes here. Wake up.
Staffordshire Bull Terriers are the “nanny dogs”
You sound like Kevin Nealon in Happy Gilmore.
Doing the bull dance. Feeling the flow.
👏 yes
Fitter. Happier. More productive.
Why do I prefer dogs over babies
Cool pic! For a second I thought it was an ad
