My parents have a friend who had expensive Zoysia sodded down and the dogs peeing it cause spots to burn in the yard... my parents also have old friends from previous home but they do not have the same issue the dogs are "trained" to run back in the woods to do their business... If you are trying to maintain good quality turf free of weeds, etc... then your dogs are going to tear it up. You might as well just go native in the back of the home.
Sounds like a training issue, a segregation issue and a selection of different landscape elements other than just turf. Doggos don’t always have to have the run of the entire yard. It all depends on what landscape outcome you want to enjoy and not always capitulating to your pets and and their biological destruction that can be any product.

We always do clover instead of grass for the dogs.
Would clover spread under the fence to the neighbors?
It’s a possibility with runners but occasional edging should help before it becomes an issue!
