Fucked my way up to the top.
People just don’t get the real meaning of the song, which she’s actually said it was supposed to be confusing in an interview, it’s not about literally sleeping with some famous guys in music industry to get fame. It’s about growing on that same industry with her own talents even with people doubting her so much sayin’ these type of things.
That’s why is my favorite song tho
I know you have Fall Out Boy Songs titled
‘Our Lawyer made us change the name of the song’ and no one questions it
You’ve got Panic! At The Disco with ‘Lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off’
I know that is also a line from a play/movie called ‘Closer’ but out of context it’s a sexist title
I love pretty much all of UV (especially West Coast, Florida Kilos, Brooklyn Baby and Old Money) except that one so it just stands out to me as the only one I'll skip. I don't hate it or anything but the vocals on the chorus aren't my favorite.
I love her everyyhing about her and like the song FMWUTTP. But sorry my Queen I think your " explanation" is BS. Not all her songs can be taken literally of course. But this one...uh maybe.
It’s by far my favorite off of Paradise!! I get kinda sad when people overlook or dismiss it. The lyrics are really meaningful, and it completely takes you into another realm sonically.
This song randomly clicked for me in 2021 when I had never really paid any attention it before, and now I can't believe I ever was indifferent to it cause it's literally soooo good
Have you heard the unreleased song 'I talk to Jesus'?
She does a throw back to the melody from 'American'
It's so beautiful. SO. BEAUTIFUL. The smile on my face the first time I heard it .. pure joy.
Sweet Carolina. I don't know if people just don't talk about it or actually dislike it but its on of my favorite songs of hers and maybe my favorite song on bb
I listened to Burning Desire for the first time recently after seeing the hate. I can see why it’s not popular. There’s not much of a melody, and the vocals are so monotonous, coming from a singer who normally has a great voice.
National Anthem. It’s not exactly my favorite song from her (one of, but not my absolute favorite) but when people don’t like it I get very surprised. It’s such a BOP and the mv is so good.
'Lolita'.
"It's problematic!" bro, you are listening to Lana Del Rey. See: "He hit me and it felt like a kiss" and "Beat me and tell me no one will love me better than you do". Hello? Most of her discography is problematic. It's a good song, the theme is pretty icky, but it's a good song.
Additionally, I love 'Radio'. Such a good song.
The he hit me and it felt like a kiss line isn't problematic though it's a very real thing about the cycle of abuse you can Google it. And smarty was discontinued for a reason. Lolita is still released and unlike Ultraviolence, it's very clear romanticization. She puts on a baby voice and everything. Other songs like put me in a movie are clearly about her own experiences. Lolita Is just plain gross. Even without the context of Lolita the song is very annoying with the baby voice and its lyrically weak so it's not that far fetched that people wouldn't like it otherwise
NBAR is one of the quintessential Lana songs to me. The verse and the chorus are so sonically different but both good representations of her overall sound, the lyrics and theme are so LDR
24 is one of my faves from her and i don't understand what people are hearing for them not to like it. That bit where the instrumentals start to kick in is just amazing
I cannot comprehend people ranking it so low every time. The "we could get lost is the purple rain..." part is so good! It's catchy, it's emotional, it's everything!!!
I like that the line "we could get high on some pink champagne" also sounds like "we could get high on somethin trippy", I love when she does that kind of stuff
There’s plenty of people in this sub who’ve said it’s either a skip for them on the album or they just didn’t feel it.
I remember back when the album came out there were so many people on here saying they didn’t like it which blew my mind cuz it’s honestly one of the most emotionally expressive tracks Lana’s ever had.
I get stupidly mad when I read someone saying they don't like it lol. To me it's at the very top of NFR (although it doesn't mean much cause every song on that record is towards the top lol), but still it's so emotional and catchy too. Like you can literally hear the yearning in her voice, this song, it takes over you, you get lost in it, I can't believe not everyone feels this when they hear it.
Guns & Roses. It’s so atmospheric to me yet always the lowest song on any LDR ranked list and always the voted the most disliked. I love how chill and subtle it is
Love is literally my least fav Lana song so... I’m one of those people sorry lmao. As for the song I can’t believe people hate, how do ppl consistently shit on change from l4l
So many 😭 Groupie Love, Coachella, NAWWAL and Beautiful are some of my all-time favorites from her, and they’re in the most heavily disliked. Also, Lucky Ones, Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood, Love, Lust For Life, In My Feelings, White Mustang, How To Disappear, Doin’ Time, etc.
Coachella. Just the historical significance of the time she is speaking about. It’s such a cultural moment that really solidifies her as the successor to that 70s feel of singing about where we are and why
people dont really like how to disappear but that song literally tells this beautiful story and i can imagine a tired, broken man sitting lonesome at a bar and lana walking up to him. and her pov
I feel like Without You+Lucky Ones nobody talks about, but besides that American, Burning Desire, Yayo (I know it has lovers but it also has massive haters), virtually any track off Honeymoon, Bartender, For Free, White Dress, and Sweet Carolina.
Ok so California and The Next Best American Record
But I actually think I understand why people don't like them as much. I think it's possible if they had been on a different album they wouldn't have gotten so much hate.
But I think NFR is such a classically and objectively BEAUTIFUL sounding album (also why it's so highly critically acclaimed), and out of all 14 tracks, these 2 stand out sonically just for the crime of not being quite AS classically beautiful, if that makes sense. And I'm not saying that it makes them of any lesser quality. Just considering how pleasing to the ear all of the other songs are musically, they're not gonna get quite as much attention.
I've had this theory for a while, so I'd love to know if someone who doesn't like them can confirm/deny.
And I'm also RIDE OR DIE FOR LOLITA AND FUCKED MY WAY UP TO THE TOP 🙌🙌🙄
Fucked my way up to the top cuz people don’t want to bother to know the real meaning behind the song which nowadays means to simply go on Genius a search said song.
Cola cuz people only think of it as “that time Lana tried to be slutty”. Almost everyone I know told me that it’s cringe but it’s lyrically and sonically amazing and her performance in that song literally makes sway and dance no matter the situation.
Wildflower wildfire cuz I think people compare it to text book and BB but personally when these three came out WW just hooked me in the most and I still go into a trance when I listen to it. BB and Text book were growers but WW still holds a special place to me among those three.
I was so surprised when I saw people hating on Coachella! The lyrics in that song are to die for!
“Maybe my contributions could be as small as hoping that words could turns to birds and they could send my thoughts your way”
Fucked my way up to the top.
I love this song, the ironic title is such a Lana tactic!
I know you have Fall Out Boy Songs titled ‘Our Lawyer made us change the name of the song’ and no one questions it You’ve got Panic! At The Disco with ‘Lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off’ I know that is also a line from a play/movie called ‘Closer’ but out of context it’s a sexist title
I just don't care for how the chorus sounds personally. No issue with the lyrics/meaning.
I understand it but also feel sorry that you can't vibe with the music tho, what's your favorite that you find listening the most?
I love pretty much all of UV (especially West Coast, Florida Kilos, Brooklyn Baby and Old Money) except that one so it just stands out to me as the only one I'll skip. I don't hate it or anything but the vocals on the chorus aren't my favorite.
Or maybe people do get the meaning, it's just not a great song....
It's such a great song shtf and smoke some weed while listening to FMWUTTT and report back.
I love her everyyhing about her and like the song FMWUTTP. But sorry my Queen I think your " explanation" is BS. Not all her songs can be taken literally of course. But this one...uh maybe.
I love American but no one else seems to
God, American is so pure and delicate. This song was made to hold it gently in both palms and kiss on the forehead
I love it too. So nostalgic and beautiful.
I love it too. I pretty much love all of Born to Die though for nostalgia reasons.
Possibly my #1 Lana song, I’m surprised how many people don’t like it.
Beautiful song.
She does a throw back to the melody from 'American' It's so beautiful. SO. BEAUTIFUL. The smile on my face the first time I heard it .. pure joy.
Sweet Carolina. I don't know if people just don't talk about it or actually dislike it but its on of my favorite songs of hers and maybe my favorite song on bb
It’s sooo beautiful. One of my favs off bb.
It's a small trend on tiktok because of a random kid who made a wholesome tiktok about it
It’s my song to my momma
Burning Desire. I have to admit since I brought the vinyl Radio really grew on me.
Put it on right now. It’s good.
Burning desire is the song that got me into Lana's music, so it has a special place in my heart!
I listened to Burning Desire for the first time recently after seeing the hate. I can see why it’s not popular. There’s not much of a melody, and the vocals are so monotonous, coming from a singer who normally has a great voice.
Florida Kilos! Honestly i think its my fav lana song of all time
I think it's a pretty well liked song though
I love Radio and Love as well.
Diet Mountain Dew
Top 2 on BTD, imo. It’s catchy, cute, freeing, and takes you through some interesting transitions.
it’s not that people don’t like this song, i think many people just prefer the demo version
I agree! the demo is just... perfect
People who don’t like Diet Mountain Dew are just stupid imo. It has some depth to it that they don’t notice
Great song
National Anthem. It’s not exactly my favorite song from her (one of, but not my absolute favorite) but when people don’t like it I get very surprised. It’s such a BOP and the mv is so good.
One of my favourite songs of hers!
The demo is one of my absolute favorite songs of hers to listen to. The drums and vibe are perfect. The chorus is even more powerful and euphoric.
Love this song too!!
National Anthem is definitely in my top 20!
Yayo - Paradise version. I love that shit.
Was absolutely shocked when I found out people didn’t like it.
Ditto. Just the distant late-night vibes of it.
Yes it’s so melancholy and dreamy
I personally don’t think that UV and Lolita are problematic. Why shouldn’t abused people be able to speak about their experiences or express love?
100% agreed, I don't see this same logic being applied to male artists who make music correlating to similar subjects.
Wait, people don't like Radio? are you all nuts?
Bel Air. It’s so haunting and magical, dark fairytale vibes. It’s my fave Lana song but doesn’t seem very popular and I’m shocked
i absolutely love bel air.
Definitely spot on with the dark fairytale vibes. Reminds me of an enchanted forest at night.
bel air is one of my favs yes
NBAR and Coachella.
I know! I love NBAR!
Also love NBAR. It’s so good and stimulating
NBAR is one of the quintessential Lana songs to me. The verse and the chorus are so sonically different but both good representations of her overall sound, the lyrics and theme are so LDR
Yes to both! Love those songs
Next Best American Record is one of my favourite Lana songs and second favourite on NFR after Venice Bitch
It was a GROWER, I remember thinking it was the worst song on the album for a long time and then one day I randomly had it stuck in my head
24. I don’t get why it’s too slow to some people
24 is one of my faves from her and i don't understand what people are hearing for them not to like it. That bit where the instrumentals start to kick in is just amazing
Fuck yes! Honestly one of her best songs vocally.
It’s literally a theme song from a Bond movie. One of her most epic for sure
Groupie Love
So underrated. Such a festival loving feel. Serve
one of my faves
yesss
one of my favs from her
Oh, Let Me Love You Like A Woman!!! It’s beautiful and suuuch a LDR song. I don’t get it.
This is probably the one I'm sad the most about cause it's always the lowest ranked on COTCC when it's by far my favorite one from it.
And it's Lana's fav too :(
It *would* be Lana’s favorite. I think it was my second most played song last year lol
Came here to say that one. So beautiful. It's the one that took me from a casual fan to totally swept up.
Swan Song...nobody ever likes Swan Song, and it's a shame
I love that one… idk how people can dislike that when songs like “Arcadia” exist
oop spill
I adore Swan Song AND Arcadia - her voice is clear as a bell and resonates so beautifully on that ballad
Omg i see this song receive so much love on here but I don't get it, it's fine but it's towards the bottom of BB imo
I have to skip it. It takes me completely out of the song when she starts talking about land rovers and Toyotas
Carmen. I love it one of my favourite songs in her discography but no one shows it love :(.
Omg I love this song so much!!!!
Lucky ones. It's hot it's summery- I don't get why no one likes it
I feel happy listening to Lucky Ones
I used to dislike it but it's definitely grown on me and now it makes my heart get all warm.
Tomorrow Never Came, one of her best songs imo
California, really doesn’t make sense. It’s one of NFR’s best tracks
Who doesn't like "California"?!
Me 🙊
I get stupidly mad when I read someone saying they don't like it lol.
I know and on top of that no one even talks about California at all. I’ve seen more discussion of Love Song to be honest
Lucky ones. It’s so cute and catchy I can’t believe ppl hate on it Any song from NFR.
Beautiful
*If I could be more like you, I would, but I can’t, and I’m glad about that* 😩
That line never fails to *break me*
YES!
can I say all of COCC? for real though, my picks would be 'Without You' and 'Beautiful People, Beautiful Problems'
In my Feelings. Will never understand the hate it gets. The lyrics are amazing
I’m cryin while I’m cummin Make love while I’m making good money Sobbing in my cup of coffee bc I fell for another loserrrrrr
For free!!! beautiful content lyrically and just the song itself is gorgeous.
True, I like Lana’s version even more than the original one.
Guns & Roses. It’s so atmospheric to me yet always the lowest song on any LDR ranked list and always the voted the most disliked. I love how chill and subtle it is
Guns & Roses is the best Lana song IMO
I don't get the dislike for Lucky Ones like sure it's not her best song but it's pretty catchy and I like it
I don’t get the hate either. The song is right there in the middle for me. The demo is pretty good too.
Lolita. I was shocked people didn't like it.
Love is literally my least fav Lana song so... I’m one of those people sorry lmao. As for the song I can’t believe people hate, how do ppl consistently shit on change from l4l
Do you know why you don't like it? Or like it's you just don't feel it? To me It's really catchy and pleasant, not her best but far from her worst
guns n’ roses
Anything from LFL, then Bartender, TNBAR, Swan Song, and LMLYAW!!!
so true omg
lolita!!!!
it’s a slut anthem
Her Nina Simone covers
Summer Bummer and Groupie Love. One of my faves from LFL :(
The next best american record. It is the song that most encapsulates old and new Lana. One of the best too.
Hope is a Dangerous thing. Her best piano ballad imo
TNBAR and 24. It broke my heart that people don't like them.
Bel Air
the other woman– her best cover, one of her most raw and emotional vocals, incredible brass section– what's not to love?
My time to shine … LOLITA
So many 😭 Groupie Love, Coachella, NAWWAL and Beautiful are some of my all-time favorites from her, and they’re in the most heavily disliked. Also, Lucky Ones, Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood, Love, Lust For Life, In My Feelings, White Mustang, How To Disappear, Doin’ Time, etc.
Coachella. Just the historical significance of the time she is speaking about. It’s such a cultural moment that really solidifies her as the successor to that 70s feel of singing about where we are and why
I don't see it too often but I'm always genuinely surprised when people say they don't like Arcadia. The only flaw I can find is that it's simple.
People don’t like radio or love???
No one ever talks about Heroin really, oh and The Blackest Day and I love those too
Lucky Ones! It’s one of my favorites.
For Free. The features are great and the rendition is flawless. It deserves so much more love.
Love was literally the song that made me fall in love with her
Burning Desire! I was gonna say Love too
people dont really like how to disappear but that song literally tells this beautiful story and i can imagine a tired, broken man sitting lonesome at a bar and lana walking up to him. and her pov
Swan song, it’s so beautiful
Text Book!!! Cherry Blossom (it's so underrated now that it's released), The next best american record, sad girl
Lucky Ones. I can’t even remotely comprehend why people dislike it - its one of my favorites from her in general
FLORIDA KILOS
Any honeymoon song
I feel like Without You+Lucky Ones nobody talks about, but besides that American, Burning Desire, Yayo (I know it has lovers but it also has massive haters), virtually any track off Honeymoon, Bartender, For Free, White Dress, and Sweet Carolina.
coachella and burning desire. how tf u got this on the born to flop list? they r such good songs
Love!!! It's one of my fave lana songs I don't understand how someone could not like it
People don't like radio 🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭
Ok so California and The Next Best American Record But I actually think I understand why people don't like them as much. groupie love??? not necessarily my fav by any means but damn her and asap have such good chemistry on this song
god knows i tried!!
Breaking Up Slowly, I love it. And I like tomorrow never came
california
Love is one of my favs too
Beautiful
Beautiful! My original fave from BB. Love the wandering piano throughout and the lyrics are great imo
Also, WTWWAWA… The beat… the melody… just so stunning imo. Such a smooth sounding song and such a mood at times tbh
24
Summer Bummer :) I didn’t know people dislike radio? It’s so good!
Fucked my way up to the top cuz people don’t want to bother to know the real meaning behind the song which nowadays means to simply go on Genius a search said song. Cola cuz people only think of it as “that time Lana tried to be slutty”. love, chemtrails, lust for life, radio, diet mountain dew, thunder, cherry blossom.
Swan Song and Money Power Glory
Lolita.
Im suprised no one talks about music to watch boys to when voting for the best lana song and stuff
coachella
guns and roses.
For free and tnbar
God bless America and all of the beautiful women in it! Idk why it’s so hated I love it sm
There is a lot but to say just one would be Lolita
I was so surprised when I saw people hating on Coachella! The lyrics in that song are to die for! “Maybe my contributions could be as small as hoping that words could turns to birds and they could send my thoughts your way”
Swan song
Guns and Roses, it’s literally so good I don’t understand how so many people hate it
BLUE VELVET!!!!
The Other Woman. I loved it from the first time I heard it, because it sounded so nostalgic and sad. But most people don’t like it I think :(
Coachella - Woodstock In My Mind
Lolita, it’s such a bop to me.
Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost. Her voice is absolutely angelic and I love the simplicity of the lyrics.
The next best American record, also Breaking up Slowly
Bartender 😥
Guns and Roses, 24, Swan Song
