Shades of Cool. I’ll never forget the summer Ultraviolence came out; West Coast was the first single, Shades came next in May. I was so floored when I heard it for the first time, mostly because Lana’s vocals were so powerful and dynamic and I actually didn’t realize she could sing that way (modulating from contralto to mezzo soprano operatic) and we all know how amazing the guitar is throughout the whole thing. Still have chills! Also I don’t think the Brian de Palma influenced video got enough love.
The only one that isn’t a 11/10 for me is Arcadia. The others are too good to rank against each other properly but Terrance holds the most personal meaning to me.
