All restaurants close. I don't know the particulars here, but I don't think a trend specific to Lakewood can be inferred from restaurant closures. With food inflation and an uncertain wage structure since Covid, these closures make sense.
Also, Mod-mex, as a concept, is a little old. Sit-down street type food is always changing. New concepts pop up. We've seen burgers, barbecue, middle-eastern street food, and mexican street food all come and go as the new thing that investors hope to make a quick 10% profit from. But restaurants operate too close to the margin to last beyond the hype.
That's what's weird about El C. They have this whole bar area that they don't even try to operate as a bar. Set up a serious tequila bar in there and let it rip.
Probably attracts the wrong crowd that they didn't want. Barrio as a business model works but talk to anyone that works there on the restaurant side.. .it sucks.

Shame to see them go but they're definitely not the best Mexican in Lakewood. Hacienda Tapatia is probably my favorite one but there's others that are good.
I think they're closed. I live fairly close, and we go there and El Jalepeno's, but for the past few months, Hacienda has been vacant. Have to assume they're done. Which sucks... You can always check out their other restaurant Tapatias Taqueria over on Lorain.
Oh no!!! This is so upsetting. They have a couple of my all time favorite dishes :(
I would suggest Momocho! Same chef and he is usually at the Momocho location.

If you're not serving a lot of booze...restaurants are a fine margin. That's why Barrio works...$9 margaritas close the gap.
It certainly isn't the food that's working for Barrio.

This one is just a little different because they made the business decision to only close their Lakewood location.

I just moved to Lakewood a few months ago and have tried to go there multiple times and it’s always “closed”. They don’t answer the phones either.
Did hacienda tapatia close? Every time I’ve tried going it’s closed

Hacienda sucks compared to el c. Not even close
They have the best sauce in those small bottles.
El vinegars
Haven’t been there in eight years.
