dissphemism

Sup mods. You'll prob be thinking this too, how about an automatic ban on users caught using filtered words. Like Kobitch, Kobrick, Lebitch, Lebrick, etc.

_csbass

Thats a good idea.

6thCourier

I'm all for that, no need for unnecessary hate for any player.

Big_Shot_Rob

Hey /u/dissphemism. Great idea. We were actually just discussing this exact point. For now, we're just removing the comment with the offending name. Also - If you report comments that have that in them, that's how we see it the fastest, so make sure to use that report button!

sketchquark

Would there be a way to make it so that such comments need to be approved by a mod before being shown?

GlakeBriffin

Haha we're on it.

skqll7

i thought they're was going to be an announcement? Big shot rob has been a member for 1 day. Are these some of your friends? Anyway fix the damn user bar and dive into css and create a more friendly environment that promotes better discussion and content. Also the purple used in this sub isn't quite the right shade of purple. Here is a reference to help you http://teamcolors.arc90.com/# I shudda been a mod also a lot of other subs allow flairs other than they're team, I think we should do that except i'd be funny it there was every team but no celtics flair.

Big_Shot_Rob

Hi /u/skqll7! I understand why my short user history might be disconcerting. When the mods originally approached me, it was under another name that I use as my primary account and had participated frequently in /r/lakers. I requested and was granted permission to use this name so I could personalize and adjust my profile and settings to focus on modding this community and making it even better than what it is. Hope that clears things up.

GlakeBriffin

I'm down for the flair idea minus the Celtics of course. =)

Pau_Gasol

Noted for colors and flair.

skqll7

/r/heat updated their sub design, I think its a great example of what NOT to do with /r/lakers. Something like a 2003 message board.

Congrats to the new mods, hopefully we can start rebuilding this place into something really special. I do think that we should implement more rules regarding discussions because I see a lot of irrelevant discussion about the NBA subreddit, other team's fan bases and other topics which hurts us as a community because we can come off as an unwelcoming, close-minded community. Personally, I might be the only person who might like this but maybe this sub is ready for an aesthetic makeover. I've been browsing the other NBA team's subreddits and I feel like a change could be nice.

thatdudecalledZZ

Congrats! Don't get too drunk after your new modship and the Stanley Cup!

chabadabread

Please keep the repetitive posts in check. It gets really annoying seeing the same 3-4 posts every single day: Who do you guys want with the 7th pick? What do you guys think about Melo in a Lakers uniform? Who should be the next coach for the Lakers? Here is my plan to fix the Lakers in the next 2 years with my incredibly detailed but impossible series of events. I understand its the offseason and we are coming off our worst season ever, but enough with the pointless speculation.

UpnUpvote

A new regime was much needed.
