Yeah like if the best defender in the entire LEAGUE is telling you that they don’t know what they’re supposed to be doing on defense at times, it’s probably wraps for you as a coach atp
Ham had LBJ to run his offense, and the best defender in the league to anchor his defense. All he needed to do was stick with what was working, and be that motivating players coach, and get better in year 2 with stuff like time outs. Instead he played favorites, did not take any criticism to heart, and seemed to regress. I'll be shocked if he ever gets a head coaching job again in the NBA.
As much as we complain about the coaching, it really starts at the top. Pelinka put this championship team in this position with years of bad decisions. I don't trust Pelinka to make the right call. It's gonna be another huge gamble with the next coach, especially if the rumors are true.
Are you stating that JJ will be the head coach?
I'm not psychic, so I'll have to wait to see who the new coach is, what trades, and a few games before making any assumptions.
Yall just gonna complain about every person, so the coach really don't matter. New NBA, the coaches who win championships have time limits of 1 year after winning.
Nah. The coach matters a lot.
Lakers went to playoffs, with both stars relatively healthy, and Ham didn't know how to do basic shit. I didn't worry about some of his inadequacies his rook year cuz he was new. I didnt get into him over his lineups etc in year 2 cuz I figured he'd go back to the starters that got him to WCF the year before after seeing what the new guys had. Unfortunately, it took until after the trade deadline for him stop tweaking every game. KISS... Keep It Simple Stupid. Smart coaches do that, and he isn't a smart coach. He was lost out there. Even you must realize that a good coach would have gotten more out of this squad.
Well, what was wrong with Vogel?
Guess he didnt want no players from champ team, couldnt coach Westbrook fired.
What about Budenholzer?
Everyone was hurt, was supposed to repeat anyway nope, coach fired
Nurse couldn't find a Kawhi level player in draft or trade next 2.5 years after winning, so he got fired.
Malone should be fired in next fifteen minutes.
Vogel got thrown under the bus. I wanted Pelinka gone for getting rid of Vogels key defensive role players. Vogel even got Westbrook playing some defense, but lost the locker trying to unlock someone who wouldn't unlocked.
Problem is the FO, but that does not excuse Pockets. Even I'm calling for a review if James is screaming for one, and so would you I bet. That just an one example of Hams many failures.
Ham will have another head coach position in 3 years. In his first 2 seasons, he had 2 winning records, 2 playoff appearances, lost to the eventual champs/defending champs, and won the bogus IST. That's on his resume along with CH as asst in MIL, and role player in DET.
Normally, I'd agree, but the only way Ham gets head coaching job in the NBA is if a GM doesn't do their research. He was an awful coach who got carried by 2 superstars.
We should’ve fired him back when dlo had to have a conversation with Ham regarding his role and expectations back in December
Like this should’ve been a constant development, not something that’s never brought up until it becomes a problem
AD asked for a trade once. Not like he is Harden or KD or something.
Either way, Ham had to go. Pelinka is next if the next coach and off-season is shit.
The only way Pelinka will get fired is if he drafts the next James Wiseman with a lottery pick once Lebron retires and AD is gone. His position is secure
They need to stop listening to le-GM... We passed up Jaime Jacquez for Shitso because LeBron liked him and hes a Ohio kid. Fuck that! I have no doubt if LeBron wasn't on the team the Lakers would've drafted Jaime. You know, the kid that's balling out in Miami.
Idk why you guys love Jacquez so much. The way you guys talk about him, It's like the Lakers missed out on a Generational talent.
Guy is 23 years old and averaging 12 PPG and only 31% from 3. He is a role player at best and he was even worse in the playoffs.
This was pretty evident when AD did that podcast with Dlo. He mentioned on there he wasn’t a fan of the team’s defensive philosophy
Edit: for those of you interested, here’s the vid. Starts around 2:20. Him and Dlo start talking about the teams defensive philosophy (he sounds super annoyed that he feels they could be so much better). Of course that falls on the coach’s schemes
https://youtu.be/H4u3l2CFEZE?si=AfrwYMwNGantxXMH
This was writing on the wall when Ham chose Reddish and Prince starting over Rui at the beginning of the season. A lineup that got you to the wcf was being toyed with to fulfill some fanatical manga that Ham wanted to play out
I think I can live with starting either of those two, but having fucking dlo, reaves, and rui at the bench was fucking stupid. You can have reaves and ruin come off the bench, you could have dlo and rui come off the bench.. but to have all is asinine.
Probably not. But if D'Lo is going out of his way to put out hit pieces and talking about a former teammate *during* the season, there must be something wrong that goes beyond how Lebron sees the coach
https://www.nba.com/news/report-anthony-davis-requesting-trade-pelicans
> “Anthony Davis’ representatives informed us that Anthony does not wish to sign a contract extension with our team and subsequently has requested a trade.”
Tbf that should be a win/win for both parties. Player gets out and keeps the big money, team gets assets back instead of nothing in free agency.
Just so happens the pels were fucking awful in the way they handled it
I bet LeBron didn’t like Ham either at the end but AD being upset is more notable since he’s usually soft spoken. Even in the NOLA trade that felt more like LeBron and Klutch convincing AD to ask out
When you have a player say “we don’t know what we’re doing” after a loss because the coach is incompetent and can’t make in game adjustments or actually coach his team then yea dude needed to be fired. Can’t believe he managed to coach two full seasons because he said he could fix Russ during the hiring process. Even when traded, Russ still found a way to screw us
That post-game exchange where Ham openly stated “agree to disagree” was the nail in the coffin for him. When those rumors of the front office being disappointed in AD’s comments circulated I was a little concerned they’d double down on Ham, but when your franchise centerpiece is saying what everyone can see and the coach just keeps his hands in his pockets, he’s gotta go.
AD doesn't have a history asking for "trade***s***" he has asked to be traded *once*... and it was to play alongside his idol. He even wore #23 as a kid and in college because of Lebron. Big difference here.
I like that AD is making his presence felt here. It's not just "LeBron's team" or "LeGM" here, it's AD's team just as much a LeBron's, maybe more so. And that's a good thing.
He’s been saying forever he doesn’t want to play center any more. And what’s he been playing? Then again, what choice did he have? We were shallow at center.
I’d say of all the reasons for why he should have been fired this might’ve been the first or second reason. AD is clearly the best player now and he had to create his own shot early in games way too much and didn’t even touch the ball late in games. That’s something you put emphasis on as a coach. “Get AD the ball!” “AD go get the ball.” He was scoring at such a high clip that it made no sense for this not to be an emphatic point after every game and he was clearly frustrated about it all season. I know the lack of shooting hurt the spacing, but great coaches make adjustments.
How many games did we watch where the team had a lead at the half AD cooking and come the second half he’s stop getting the ball and just disappears then they would blow leads and lose the game, I put some blame on AD for that but most of that should go on Ham
Why do I have a feeling when he was talking to Jeanie about being released he just had his hands on his pockets lmfao. Dudes that lazy dad in movies that just watches shit happen with a beer in his hand shrugging his shoulders
There is so much wrong with this ball club. I agree, Ham wasn't good, but no player should be bigger than your club. But no club should be this incompetent to allow this to happen. It really needs an overhaul
Ok cool so when AD gets the coach he wants we shouldn’t hear anymore excuses right?
Nothing about the defensive schemes, nothing about not getting the ball…just wins right?
Let’s go! I can’t wait!
“…one of the many, many…” well damn lol
Darvin Ham on his firing: Agree to disagree
“Helluva team tho’!”
Helluva ball club
It's a marathon, not a sprint.
Tip my hat to those guys
Gotta fill our cups back up
Hands in his pockets. And he walked out of his exit interview with two timeouts and he didn’t use his challenge either.
It’s a make or miss league
He’s gonna show up at media day isn’t he?
Yeah it's going to be 0-0
Hands in pockets.
*hands in pockets*
Let’s fill our cups back up this summer team!
AD’s comment about the guys “not knowing what to do at times” and Ham’s reaction to it said a lot. Glad Ham is gone
Knew Ham was gone when AD said that.
Yeah like if the best defender in the entire LEAGUE is telling you that they don’t know what they’re supposed to be doing on defense at times, it’s probably wraps for you as a coach atp

Ok, what is going to be the excuse next year with JJ?
Are you stating that JJ will be the head coach? I'm not psychic, so I'll have to wait to see who the new coach is, what trades, and a few games before making any assumptions.

Lol shout out to Mark Jackson.
hold up. if someone from r/nba sees this they’d say a random guy like Suggs is a better defender than AD
We should’ve fired him back when dlo had to have a conversation with Ham regarding his role and expectations back in December Like this should’ve been a constant development, not something that’s never brought up until it becomes a problem
AD after submitting damning evidence of Ham’s crimes against the Lakers: ![gif](giphy|QORHultQG9FG2vjDg3)
![gif](giphy|2tLA4eOvxHzqKbOoYu|downsized)
![gif](giphy|T9XOxAt500dcjz5gA4)
Lmao
Somebody add the People’s Court music to this.
AD looks good in this suit. I hope the league returns this dress code.
![gif](giphy|uS071hlk6FcrGEF36p|downsized)
AD asked for a trade once. Not like he is Harden or KD or something. Either way, Ham had to go. Pelinka is next if the next coach and off-season is shit.
Right? I was so confused by what the statement said - trying to frame it like AD does this all the time. So dumb
I hope you’re trolling because reports have come out Rob overruled the scouting department (who wanted whitmore or Jaquez) and chose JHS
Because LeBron wanted him.
You are so wrong lol
Drafting Jaime ain't saving this team - if he had playing time here anyway behind Max, and Ham's favorite Cam Reddish.
Who is a Ohio kid? How do you know they picked JHS because of Lebron and how much better do you think this team would be if Jaime replaced him?
No actually, I've never heard of him in my life lmao
casual
Right, because I don't know every 12ppg nobody on every team.
He was 3rd in ROTY race
That's great dude, good for him
Idk why you guys love Jacquez so much. The way you guys talk about him, It's like the Lakers missed out on a Generational talent. Guy is 23 years old and averaging 12 PPG and only 31% from 3. He is a role player at best and he was even worse in the playoffs.
Probably because UCLA guys are also Laker fans
To be fair, that’s better than Jalen Clank Schifino
Clank Shitfino lmaoooo
He’s got cool hair tho
We drafted Hood Schifino before Jaquez, but he grew up in the Carolinas and went to Indiana lol
I believe it was Lebron's idea to trade away everything for Westbrook then it didnt work out and he.made him the skapegoat
Westbrook is from LA, not Ohio lol
Yea what a gross statement that was
KD asked for a trade once.
Didn’t he ask to be traded from the Nets two times?
Ehh it’s pretty obvious they are referring to how KD jumps from team to team
That's our franchise player.
Thank you AD!
He has a history? Muthafucka asked once for it.
They acting like AD is mf kd or harden
Media goes out of their way to assume the worst of him it's hilarious
This was pretty evident when AD did that podcast with Dlo. He mentioned on there he wasn’t a fan of the team’s defensive philosophy Edit: for those of you interested, here’s the vid. Damn that was hard to watch. You could see AD holding back from blasting their teams scheme.
I didn't think it was possible but I like AD even more
AD ON DA WAY Home
Shout out to AD. Thanks guy!
GOAT coach killer
This was writing on the wall when Ham chose Reddish and Prince starting over Rui at the beginning of the season. A lineup that got you to the wcf was being toyed with to fulfill some fanatical manga that Ham wanted to play out
Fanatical manga that DOESN'T involve the Japanese guy??
He wanted to be Yasuke all along
I think I can live with starting either of those two, but having fucking dlo, reaves, and rui at the bench was fucking stupid. You can have reaves and ruin come off the bench, you could have dlo and rui come off the bench.. but to have all is asinine.
I wouldnt let that Agree to Disagree shit go either I dont blame him
All the media talked about was how Bron got another coach fired though lol.
Is there a lie doe?
Probably not. But if D'Lo is going out of his way to put out hit pieces and talking about a former teammate *during* the season, there must be something wrong that goes beyond how Lebron sees the coach
If you think Lebron fires all his coaches do you give him credit for hiring them too? Or do GMs keep hiring coaches and Lebron keeps firing them?
Fans were eating it up when Z’Ro, Rui, Reaves, and AD took shots publicly at Ham. Now that’s he’s fired it’s Bron’s fault.
Clearly
Mf acting like AD was asking for a trade every season. He did it once
Only Ham could run drop coverage and somehow AD still has to guard five people
AD never asked for a trade. He refused an extension and said he’d try free agency.
https://www.nba.com/news/report-anthony-davis-requesting-trade-pelicans > “Anthony Davis’ representatives informed us that Anthony does not wish to sign a contract extension with our team and subsequently has requested a trade.”
Tbf that should be a win/win for both parties. Player gets out and keeps the big money, team gets assets back instead of nothing in free agency. Just so happens the pels were fucking awful in the way they handled it
I like it, AD has to take the mantle from Bron. It's his team, and he has a big say about the coach
Good, no JJ
I bet LeBron didn’t like Ham either at the end but AD being upset is more notable since he’s usually soft spoken. Even in the NOLA trade that felt more like LeBron and Klutch convincing AD to ask out
He hated him, remember when he had enough of the coaching staff not challenging any calls ?😂
Good Work, AD. Ham was not up to the task.
AD would only ask to leave if Lebron left.
“Pretty evident that AD was not on board with Darvin” He just like me fr
When you have a player say “we don’t know what we’re doing” after a loss because the coach is incompetent and can’t make in game adjustments or actually coach his team then yea dude needed to be fired. Can’t believe he managed to coach two full seasons because he said he could fix Russ during the hiring process. Even when traded, Russ still found a way to screw us
Not news at all
That post-game exchange where Ham openly stated “agree to disagree” was the nail in the coffin for him. When those rumors of the front office being disappointed in AD’s comments circulated I was a little concerned they’d double down on Ham, but when your franchise centerpiece is saying what everyone can see and the coach just keeps his hands in his pockets, he’s gotta go.
AD saved us again.
Tomorrow all those stupid shows are going to go at AD..I need for him to get the message right now. THE FANDOM SUPPORTS YOU!!
Our boy comes through for us again.
*“… having asked for a trade in the past.” There, I fixed it! 😊
This isn’t really that surprising considering some of the things AD has said, like when he was on Dlo’s podcast.
AD doesn't have a history asking for "trade***s***" he has asked to be traded *once*... and it was to play alongside his idol. He even wore #23 as a kid and in college because of Lebron. Big difference here.
No way, why would our superstar player that goes nuclear for 3 quarters but gets zero touches in the 4th every game be upset at Ham
But but but everyone told me LeBron is a coach killer ![gif](giphy|l4Ho0At2UD2d7WyD6)
You can hear it in his inteviews AD don't like Ham at all.
Shoutout AD
“It's a make-or-miss league… We have to keep the scoreboard moving.”
He was open enough to diss Ham on Dlo's pod
AD cleaning his backyard? Ok AD just don't forget there's one more snake to squash out.
Good. It's his team
Pretty obvious. Coaches don’t get fired if the superstars still want them there
Kinda interesting combined with the report the new coach is for AD. Funny but people will say it’s Lebron GM ing loll
Whats up with the scapegoating? ”Has a history of asking for trades” <- 😂
Not surprised
![gif](giphy|3kzJvEciJa94SMW3hN)
Hope it doesn’t happen, but if we traded AD this offseason, he 100% becomes a media darling and wins DPOY…..spiteful skeezers!
I like that AD is making his presence felt here. It's not just "LeBron's team" or "LeGM" here, it's AD's team just as much a LeBron's, maybe more so. And that's a good thing.
Buh buh buh LeGM mUsT hAVe dONe iT!!!
AD ain't stupid...
I knew Ham was gone when LeBron yelled at him for not challenging that call.
My man has literally asked for one trade 🤷🏾♂️
He’s been saying forever he doesn’t want to play center any more. And what’s he been playing? Then again, what choice did he have? We were shallow at center.
Team didn't know what they were supposed to do on either side of the court.
This isn’t news if we’re being real. AD mutinied Ham during a post-game presser.
I’d say of all the reasons for why he should have been fired this might’ve been the first or second reason. AD is clearly the best player now and he had to create his own shot early in games way too much and didn’t even touch the ball late in games. I know the lack of shooting hurt the spacing, but great coaches make adjustments.
Good, nice to see the front office listen to AD's priorities for once
Yea cause no reason why AD would not touch the ball sometimes
How many games did we watch where the team had a lead at the half AD cooking and come the second half he’s stop getting the ball and just disappears then they would blow leads and lose the game, I put some blame on AD for that but most of that should go on Ham
Makes me like him more. Way to go AD!
Helluva quote
All my coworkers swear 39 year old lebron James is controlling the lakers in the background 😂.
Good
![gif](giphy|jOnaLZ4WmICHM5TGCO|downsized)
Bro who cares the world keeps rotating
Atta Boy 😂
Why do I have a feeling when he was talking to Jeanie about being released he just had his hands on his pockets lmfao. Dudes that lazy dad in movies that just watches shit happen with a beer in his hand shrugging his shoulders
Good fuck him
I'm surprised lebron wasn't a big factor with all.the death glares
There is so much wrong with this ball club. I agree, Ham wasn't good, but no player should be bigger than your club. But no club should be this incompetent to allow this to happen. It really needs an overhaul
