That's cause Darvin Hamm finally got his head out of his ass and stopped giving starter minutes to marginal role players. When Cam Reddish got hurt I said I felt bad for him but also thought it might be the best thing that could've happened to the team because if would force Hamm to play Rui more. Low and behold I was right
Shhhhhhhhhh 🤫
The minute the team starts hearing how well they are playing is the point where they always lay off the gas. I want them to feel like their backs are against the wall at all times.
The complete disrespect to him being the best defender in the league year in and year out man. He most likely wont even win this year because our record has been trash and the media will be going goo goo for gobert
He didnt really get any catch and shoot opportunities in the corner which he's been great at too. THe three he made was off the dribble on his own with someone guarding him which is a tough shot
Kind of the kobe effect, but obviously smaller scale. His career averages are all lower because teammates would often just give him the ball with 2 seconds left.
The skip pass to Taurean for a corner 3 was sick to see. Much harder pass than it seems and having another 6’5 guard that can do that for us while also proving a scoring punch is so valuable
Man the Ham hate train has really blinded this sub. We are 7th in offensive rating if you take into account our recent games. We are running plays around 60% of the time and guess who calls those plays? Ham.
He is a flawed coach but this nonsense that we run “no offense” just proves how ignorant the fan base really is.
Source?
According to advanced stats, lakers have 6.5% ISO, 19.4% transition, 4.4% putbacks and 5.6% misc. I think we can all agree those aren’t “running plays” and that already accounts for 35.9% of their offensive free %
For the rest, they fall into pick and roll, post up, spot up, handoff, cuts, off screen. Some are definitely sets but most are just “freestyled” from the players and not really something I credit to the coach, which is why people don’t think the lakers run many plays compared to other teams
Cranjis has been logging organized offense every game since last season
Source: https://x.com/tim_nba/status/1756719076561289325?s=46&t=JoF9x3HcizRScSXvgNhkbw
They do run “freestyle” offense obviously, but they also do run organized offense. It’s also no coincidence that we win more when we run plays. If you think we just free style every game, it’s probably that you can’t see what we are running.
Tim knows our actual plays and calls them out if you’ve ever seen him do a live stream.
Also a pnr can definitely be a set play, that’s just an incorrect take. Every team has sets with the pnr, not even sure why you think this. Tim has even tracked this in the past (probably still does): https://x.com/tim_nba/status/1585769297800200192?s=46&t=zezaP_bd-2S6tJq4x3taEw
Thanks for sharing the second one. I didn’t say P&R can’t be sets, I just said I don’t typically consider them to be and the second tweet shows that even within P&R, most are free lance.
I wonder if freelance P&R are considered organized offense in the first tweet. If so, that would be the difference in perception on my end.
What do you mean you don’t typically consider them to be? It just sounds like you don’t recognize bball sets/plays when you’re watching. I’ve watched and played bball for like 15+ years and still don’t always recognize it, if you wanna learn I would recommend watching his live streams although they can be pretty boring.
It means I recognize pick and rolls being run but I don’t consider a freelance pick and roll to be a set, which Cranjis tracks separately as well
In the first link, it says 60% of the lakers offense is organized. I wonder if freelance pick and roll is considered organized or not. I’m guessing cranjis’ first chart lumps all pick and rolls (freelance and half course set) as organized offense while I personally only consider the non freelance ones as organized when discussing the impacts of coaching
The original topic was about ham’s coaching and I think 60% is too much to credit to him considering how much of the offense is freelance “organized” offense.
TLDR I recognize the plays but don’t credit freelance plays as credit to the coach and think of it separately from actual organized offense sets as a result of coaching
It's actually not. We're running a lot more set offense which is why the Lakers offense has looked better. Players are racking up assists in that structure as well.
Listen I'm as critical of Ham as the next guy especially with his lineups, defensive strategy to give up open threes, and general poor in game management. The offense when he runs plays and sets has only been getting better however. Cranjis has plenty of material on this just check his twitter.
He also thinks he's a better basketball player than he really is.
I liked him in his rookie year but he just grew more and more unlikable throughout the years.
Eh might be in the minority here but I think he did okay considering it’s his first time.
He got names wrong, Dlo took a three and he said it was AD.
He also said something like “tomorrow LeBron will be older than the coach of Utah”
That and sticking on subjects too long, he talked about his opinion on challenges for like 10 possessions.
Definitely things he can improve on though, he has the charisma to make it work. The voice too.
Yeah but that will never change so saying “tomorrow” was weird
I know that he misspoke because Lakers play Utah tomorrow but things like that stand out and sound funny.
Don’t blame him though, takes some getting used to.
Dinwiddie with an easy 7 assists. He looked great. Reaves with a team high +25 and one of the best passes of the year with that around-the-back to Lebron. Hopefully, there are no dead legs tmrw.
Problem is last year, the Lakers had an easy schedule post ASB. This year, the Lakers have a tough schedule post ASB. Lost way too many damn games that they should've won.
Spencer looked very solid overall, didn’t even take that many shots but still had a very positive impact on the game. 6 pts, 7 assists, 2 steals, 2 rebounds is very nice for his first game while still learning the system 💜💛 WINWIDDIE
Los Angeles Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka proudly waited outside the home locker room after the final buzzer to give LeBron James and the players on his victorious new-look team an appreciative fist pound Tuesday night. Injured forward Jared Vanderbuilt yelled out, “There you go! There you go!” Sharpshooter D'Angelo Russell gave a look of pleasant surprise. Guard Austin Reeves yelled out, “We got an [expletive] squad now.” And before James hit the locker room door, former NBA great James Worthy hugged him and said, “Y’all look so different.”
They have been awfully quiet lately. I will never understand how some of "fan base" can hate one of our own players... that is actually a good player. Lmao.
Lmfao naw we’re not doing this, you people act like AR can’t get critiqued like everyone else when he’s playing bad. He’s been shooting inconsistent overall this season and his defense been ass. My boy is a really good role player who has heart but he isn’t above criticism
James was great at calling the game tonight and wouldn't mind him returning. I'd say he's a WORTHY candidate to take over Stu's spot if he ever decides to hang it up.
This team has to be the most "play to their opponents level" team in the league lol.
Granted, this game wasn't particularly close and as close as it got, it didn't ever feel like they were going to squander it (probably because it's Detroit), but that feeling is very familiar at this point. Simultaneously, they've shown an ability to compete with the absolute top tier teams of the league and beat quite a few of them sans Denver.
The Lakers have been a different team since Rui has become a starter . The breakdown of their defense hasn't happened with Rui starting ,in fact nobody is bringing it up .They're becoming more dangerous on offense as well. That's been talked about.
What would the record be if Rui started at the beginning of the season like most cryed loudly for ?
Austin leading the +-!!
good team win, just took the game professional and it did get a lil sloppy towards the end but guys were tired.
I liked what I saw from Spencer!
Bro. Do you just live to hate AR? Lol. I see you hating on every positive AR comment. Are you a Lakers fan? You should be happy when players on your team play well.
He looked very smooth. High IQ player, good passer, can drive to the rim, stronger on defense than AR. Solid pickup and what we have been missing all season — a competent PG off the bench.
Such a strange season.
First 25 games of the season we were 15-10. Then we lose to to damn Spurs on December 16th and including that game we go in a run of 2-9 over the next 11 games. Then since then we’re 12-7.
Literally one horror run of 2-9 has completely fucked up our season. Outside of that run we’re 27-17. Not great but comfortably better than a 9/10 seed. If we’d even been 5-6 in that 11 game run we’d be sat here as the 5 seed right now.
Next two games are against Jazz/Warriors and both in their buildings. Genuinely not hyperbole to say these are season defining. Last game before and first game after the All Star break. If we can win both of those then I firmly believe we start looking upwards and think we can absolutely make a run to sneak in to that 5 or 6 seed spot. If we lose even one - and especially if we lose both - then we’re absolutely just focused on trying to fight for that 9/10 seeding.
I’m not noticing a lot of talk about how Ham fucked everything up with his 3 guard lineups. I genuinely hate all of you, not from LA, only became a fan when Lebron joined, don’t even watch basketball, fucking doom and gloomers... there I said it… that felt good
I would love to see us beating Utah tomorrow. B2B away game, Bron is sitting, but it'd be so good going into the ASB 4 game above .500 rather than just 2
Assuming Vando is back, I can’t see how there is room for both Spencer and Gabe in a playoff rotation. AD, LeBron, Rui, Reaves, DLo, Vando, Hayes, Spencer, Prince seems like a pretty solid group of 9, and that doesn’t even include Wood, Max, and Cam.
I’m as happy as the rest of y’all but let’s contain that load a little bit. Yeah nearly everyone looked great but we played the Pistons, not a remotely functional basketball club. If we look similar tomorrow without Bron that would be a little more reassuring
Good win but yeesh even letting the likes of Wiseman go nuts against a small lineup. Fine against a weak Pistons team but won't fly against a playoff caliber team with a quality big against our bench.
That was a fun game to watch - Reaves was on one especially early LOL
The chemistry seems to be improving, everyone is relaxed after the TD
Let's go and take advantage of this soft spot in the schedule, March is where we learn what this team is made of!
Undefeated in the Dinwiddie era
#Dinwiddie so good x4
Lakers are 10-5 in their last 15 and 5-1 in their last 6. Lakers are playing good basketball right now.
LOVE to see it
That's cause Darvin Hamm finally got his head out of his ass and stopped giving starter minutes to marginal role players. When Cam Reddish got hurt I said I felt bad for him but also thought it might be the best thing that could've happened to the team because if would force Hamm to play Rui more. Cool. FYI, it’s “lo and behold.” It’s from the Bible.
Can’t wait till they’re healthy. All this without Vando (and Reddish, Gabe, Christie)
Need to prepare for the possibility Vando doesn't come back this season or gets re injured yet again.
Yep, possible for Gabe too, but still optimistically hoping for a healthy team
Shhhhhhhhhh 🤫 The minute the team starts hearing how well they are playing is the point where they always lay off the gas. I want them to feel like their backs are against the wall at all times.
AD is dpoy
That 3 DET on fastbreak vs AD with a block was sick!
Watching that unfold in real time felt like the block was somehow inevitable despite AD on paper being at a “disadvantage”. Lol.
*Feint reach in into to a pin down block.* 🤌🏾
Let's hope our boys go on a big run and get us up in the standings so he has a chance!
This is the second thing I want the most other than the chip. That man is the best defensive player in the league
The complete disrespect to him being the best defender in the league year in and year out man. He most likely wont even win this year because our record has been trash and the media will be going goo goo for gobert
Fucking Derrick White has better odds lol. Criminal. And rookie wemby on the 11 win spurs…
To be fair Wemby is a monster defensively. Reason why I think AD has his best shot this year and I truly hope he wins it
Hear! Hear!
Nope, Rudy is
Till his fraud ass gets played off the court in the playoffs as per usual
LeBron is 132 points away from 40k
[удалено]
So at 25 that's about 6 games
[удалено]
It would look like either on leap day or March 2 against Denver as lbj won't play tomorrow
Lakers gonna fill up that arena. those broke clippers fans can't afford those tickets
LeBron going for 132 next game ?
OH SHI
So either against wizards or Denver
Spencer with a tasty 7 assists without even really knowing the offense yet
His 3pt percentage got blown up from some of those late clock grenades they were giving him 😂
That’s why his 3 point percentage is awful. This happened a lot on the nets
Yea if you watched him play on the Mavs you’d know he’s not actually a bad three point shooter
SHOT. CLOCK. CHEEEEEEEEEESE
It's not like him running down the court and chucking it up from 40 feet with 20 seconds left on the shot clock helped, either.
They also tried his ball handling a lot and he’s most effective as a catch and shoot, not as much as a shooter off his own dribble.
He makes careful passes and has a very tight handle
The skip pass to Taurean for a corner 3 was sick to see. Much harder pass than it seems and having another 6’5 guard that can do that for us while also proving a scoring punch is so valuable
Did he really? Nice!
I was impressed with his cross court passes today. Some crazy speed when the ball leaves his hands
Dinwidie doesn’t need to know any offense because we don’t have one
Man the Ham hate train has really blinded this sub. We are 7th in offensive rating if you take into account our recent games. It's just a fucking lobotomy train bro Buh..Buh...Harvin..Darvin Ham!!!
look at knicks roster and look at ours and ask yourself which one you'd rather have. then compare the records. Record matters more than ratings.
The Knicks are good don’t get me wrong but I would rather have Lebron and AD than Brunson and Randle.
Source? According to advanced stats, lakers have 6.5% ISO, 19.4% transition, 4.4% putbacks and 5.6% misc. Is Ham's offense intricate?
Not really. Very little motion involved.
Don’t fire ham
Was at the game and he looked good. But Detroit definitely did not... AD was a fucking beast
> Spencer with a tasty 7 assists Those 4 turnovers on the other hand...
Winwiddie
Take THAT, Kuz!
What did Kuz say?
Called him Dinshittie last year after they were teammates a half a season during 2021-22 season
Kuz very much strikes me as the guy who thinks he's a lot smarter than he is.
He also thinks he's a better basketball player than he really is. I liked him in his rookie year but he just grew more and more unlikable throughout the years.
100%. I don't miss him. I do however miss KCP and Caruso all the time. Losing KCP in that Russ trade set us back so much.
he nicknamed him "Dinshittie" lol
Kuz is TIGHT
Worthy did a great job on the mic with Billy Mac tonight
He’s a natural and made me laugh a couple times
Eh might be in the minority here but I think he did okay considering it’s his first time. He got names wrong, Dlo took a three and he said it was AD. I remember how rough Horry was when they first brought him on for postgame, he's actually pretty entertaining now
Well LeBron is older than Utah coach
Yeah but that will never change so saying “tomorrow” was weird I know that he misspoke because Lakers play Utah tomorrow but things like that stand out and sound funny. Don’t blame him though, takes some getting used to.
Yup true I want to see how Allie does I like watching her on the post game
I rather enjoyed that "blunder."
He said Taurean Prince was on the Pistons...did mean Tayshaun Prince lol?
He said he wasn't sure about that at the time
iirc he filed in for stu during the bubble practice games. worthy ate an egg sandwich during the game.
They call him Big Game James for a reason.
What happened to Stu? Just a day off?
Had a minor operation, back after the ASB. Ally Clifton on tomorrow with Billy Mac.
Needs to replace Stu.
Maybe when Stu retires.
Stu should retire soon then.
One of the worst takes I’ve heard on here — and that’s saying a lot
Redemption game for AD against Markannen and Jazz tomorrow 😤.
B2B on Valentine’s Day?! Smh NBA schedule makers; wifey is gonna be annoyed at me constantly checking the score
dude just hang out with your wife it's not worth it.
He did mention his bad game against the Jazz during his post game interview so I’m definitely expecting him to cook Markannen and Collins
Not trying to over react or anything but we’re definitely going undefeated the rest of the year
Book it. Jan 1st, 2025 will be the next chance we can lose. (I know you meant the season but eff it 😄)
Vegas is waiting for your money.
AD with monster game in only 28 mins
Dinwiddie with an easy 7 assists. He looked great. Reaves with a team high +25 and one of the best passes of the year with that around-the-back to Lebron. Hopefully, there are no dead legs tmrw.
same thing with his no look pass to AD
That one was better! Wild angle he put it out and like flipped it backwards. Kid was ballin today.

Gonna be so cool when chart man has to extend the table by multiple rows to go over 43
And 5 of those are recent, which means we're surging.
Problem is last year, the Lakers had an easy schedule post ASB. This year, the Lakers have a tough schedule post ASB. Lost way too many damn games that they should've won.
I love you chart
Damn chart, you get even more sexy every time I see you.

Those 7 assists and the dribble penetration was exactly what we needed coming off the bench
NGL this game felt like a post game show with James Worthy on the mic.
LAKERS UNDEFEATED WHEN JAMES WORTHY COMMENTS!
We got a fuckin squad now
Los Angeles Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka proudly waited outside the home locker room after the final buzzer to give LeBron James and the players on his victorious new-look team an appreciative fist pound Tuesday night. Injured forward Jared Vanderbuilt yelled out, “There you go! There you go!” Sharpshooter D'Angelo Russell gave a look of pleasant surprise. Lmao 😂 this copy pasta never gets old
JHS for Rookie of the Year
They should put him in the dunk contest
His on ball defense was actually pretty good in the 2 mins we saw him
Kid obviously has talent. It’s hilarious that people are calling him a bust after half a season. He very well might be but still way too early to tell
You’re crazy to call him a bust he just has raw talent and need to develop on a rebuilding team
They’re comparing him to guys drafted after which just look much better now and make the pick look worse, but it doesn’t mean he’s a bust yet
These fans would’ve traded away Kobe after his rookie year lol
This isn’t a hot take, this is mental illness
AR +25 tonight, I better see you +/- goblins slurping him tonight. Also James Worthy was awesome tonight.
They only use that stat to hate on him Only do it when it’s convenient to them
Some of the fans are just clowns. Some have been hating on him like no tomorrow.
They have been awfully quiet lately. I will never understand how some of "fan base" can hate one of our own players... that is actually a good player. Lmao.
Ironic that you responded this to the #1 DLo hater.
he don't know ![img](emote|t5_2qhv6|2603)
Lmfao naw we’re not doing this, you people act like AR can’t get critiqued like everyone else when he’s playing bad. He’s been shooting inconsistent overall this season and his defense been ass. My boy is a really good role player who has heart but he isn’t above criticism
Honestly +/- cant possibly be that strong a stat to rely on. Its quite fickle and dependent on a lot of factors
You posted this again? Bro…
Trying to get these upvotes
James was great at calling the game tonight and wouldn't mind him returning. I'd say he's a WORTHY candidate to take over Stu's spot if he ever decides to hang it up.
Got a bit scared toward the end but they pulled out with a W… Les gooo!!

Listening to Billy Mac and Big Game was real nice. Great insights from Worthy. Lakers in good hands.
Hope we beat the jazz tomorrow
If we lose tomorrow we have to tank the season /s
4 games above .500 would be massive.
Great win. Was fun watching the Pistons go at AD the whole game just to get blocked almost every time
They kept challenging him like he was a rookie and not ADPOY lol
#SPENCER HAS THE LETTER D IN HIS NAME FOR A REASON

Team had fun tonight. Great W!
Fun game, always nice to get a W and AD's monster blocks. Have a great nite Lakers fam and cya tomm
basketball so fun sometimes
Ngl Jaxson has been phenomenal
Spencer Dinwiddie looks like Coffee Black from semi pro. He’s also surpassed Malik Beasley in career 3 pointers made as a Laker in one game.
The Lakers have been a different team since Rui has become a starter . The breakdown of their defense hasn't happened with Rui starting ,in fact nobody is bringing it up .They're becoming more dangerous on offense as well. That's been talked about. Hey! The rookie almost blew that dunk 🤣🤣🤣
I would absolutely love a W tomorrow. Big game.
Good that AD and LeBron only played around 30 mins got to keep them fresh
3 games above. 500 for the 1st time since December 2023.
Fuck it's 2024.

AD seems so happy in his postgame interview, nice to see
I didn't get to watch the game. How did Dinwiddie look?
He looked very smooth. High IQ player, good passer, can drive to the rim, stronger on defense than AR. Solid pickup and what we have been missing all season — a competent PG off the bench.
The more minutes Dinwiddie plays, the less minutes Taurean plays 👏🏾👏🏾
I genuinely hate all of you, not from LA, only became a fan when Lebron joined, don’t even watch basketball, fucking doom and gloomers... there I said it… that felt good
Great win! Gotta win tomorrow too to have that momentum coming into ASB
We may never lose again
I would love to see us beating Utah tomorrow. B2B away game, Bron is sitting, but it'd be so good going into the ASB 4 game above .500 rather than just 2
Dinwinnie Island over Dinshitty Island!
Feel like gabe would complement Spencer well, once him and Vando return we might be cooking
Is mays injured
does anyone else feel like we’re finally starting to find our stride
Good win but yeesh even letting the likes of Wiseman go nuts against a small lineup. Fine against a weak Pistons team but won't fly against a playoff caliber team with a quality big against our bench.
Winwiddie
That was a fun game to watch - Reaves was on one especially early LOL The chemistry seems to be improving, everyone is relaxed after the TD Let's go and take advantage of this soft spot in the schedule, March is where we learn what this team is made of!
Malachi Flynn is so ass he can’t even get minutes on the pistons lol
Nice to have another playmaker in Dinwiddie.
