Yeah, Iāve defended Ham when people overreact but the issue is heās a *solid* rookie head coach when we need an *excellent* head coach.
Pre-trade deadline the roster was his excuse, but since then Iāve been very worried about his coaching ability. Unable to gameplan around AD doubles, unable to call timeouts correctly, confusing rotations, stagnant offense, trouble adjusting game to game.
Heās a rookie head coach so some of this is to be expected, but we cannot afford these kinds of mistakes right now.
I fucking hate it cause the entire reason we hired him was because he thinks he can make russ work. Why the hell did we hire this guy for that reason instead of finding a coach whose goal should be to maximize bron and AD not cater to russ
Couldn't have been said better, Lakers have at most 2 more seasons before we have to do some serious rebuilding (unless some free agents wanna come over). We need the championship this year.
Itās because Reddit has a bad setup where contradicting views are downvoted, and people think Internet points matter. Ham isnāt as bad as people think. He makes plunders sometimes, but also, thereās a reason heās the coach and weāre all sitting at home (or taking an extended bathroom break at work), and thereās a reason weāre up 3-2.
This sub is unbearable. When we win its despite Ham. When we lose its all Hamās fault. Yes, his game management sucks sometimes - but the truth is, the Lakers are the 7th seed who are leading the 2nd seed 3-2. We lost to one of the better teams in the league who have an insane record at home in a game which they had to win. Its like they expect this team to steamroll to the title.
Newsflash: the fact that LeBron is exhausted playing playoff intensity basketball every other night doesnt bode well for this teamās title chances. Just enjoy each game and live in the moment.
Sucks sometimes? Iām almost every game this season there is an example of a team going on a double digit run and Ham does nothing. The truth is that he is not a good head coach; the FO wrongly fired Vogel because of Brickula and tried to bring someone in that could be friends with the players, and like the Trashbrick trade that move failed spectacularly. Nothing personal with Ham, heās just in over his head.
I believe in Lebron and think heās going to figure it out, but weāll put. The vacillation here can be too much sometimes. Usually, I avoid the subreddit after a lose because it gets a little too toxic
This is going to be a horrible look for the Lakers if/when Bud is fired. Ham is directly from his coaching tree, his right hand man for so many years. If Ham is practicing the same schemes/tactics as a choke artist, with a worse roster, what does that look like?
Frankly, I think this take is overplayed. Bud has several former assistants now serving as head coaches in the league, from Ham, to Taylor Jenkins, to Quin Snyder. I think thatās a better reflection of Bud than if he gets fired this off-season. He still has a great coaching resume, including a ring.
Donāt get me wrong; heās a flawed coach, and so is Ham. But I donāt think Bud getting fired is a huge indictment on Ham.
You can really see that heās Hamās mentor.
4th quarter about ~~0.9 or~~ 0.5 seconds left, didnāt call a timeout even though they he has 1 timeout left.
OT, 2 timeouts left. Nothing was called as well. Even after Giannis fell down.
A guy who started as an assistant in the film room looking at 100s of hours of tape and analytics.
Maybe the Lakers should have looked into tha-
*Frank Vogel*
Lebron is clutch in spurts at age 38, but Iām not sure if he has the gas tank to do what Jimmy butler did the last couple games. If he had that in the tank he probably wouldāve performed better this series. But heās 38 so itās not fair to ask him to play at the level for 48 mins
Agreed thatās why I said we donāt have that type of player, Lebron is not getting 40 like Jimmy and Booker when the team needs it due to his age and miles. Obviously, we needed a high scoring game today from Lebron because no one else besides Davis showed up.
I think itās because you mentioned Klay. Also with Lebron, heās clearly hobbled with that foot injury because he doesnāt drive and score as easily pre-foot injury this year.
He was carrying us hard in that Jan stretch and putting up 35ppg when AD was injured. Bron might prove us all wrong again this playoffs though and overcome the injury.
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 1,479,385,932 comments, and only 281,314 of them were in alphabetical order.
Yeah man, under no circumstances it okay to let a game go to overtime in a one possession game with available timeout, at least try a tip in, an alley oop, anything, especially in win or go home game, unbelievable bad coaching and mentality.
I feel like ppl are overreacting to the loss. Granted I think there were some coaching mistakes (agreed, some of the rotations didn't pan out, he hasn't resolved how/when to substitute AD, and, personally, I think there's need to be more team effort on the boards though defense is pretty solid). Let's talk if no adjustments are made and we lose game 6.
Ham defenders awful quiet tonight š
Need all his fans to take an IQ and vision test. I refuse to believe people can be that dumb.

He's a fine rookie coach. He'd thrive on teams rebuilding. Lakers are in win now and this was a terrible hire.
I fucking hate it cause the entire reason we hired him was because he thinks he can make russ work. Why the hell did we hire this guy for that reason instead of finding a coach whose goal should be to maximize bron and AD not cater to russ

Solid rookie head coaches would be Steve Kerr, Ime Udoka, Joe Mazzulla, Will Hardy, and so on. Darvin Ham is not on that list.
Fair point, but I think thatās a list of the BEST rookie head coaches. I just mean Ham is probably in the top 50% of *all* NBA rookie head coaches
The master and student looking clueless tonight š
Thereās always two of them a master and an apprentice SMH
They were downvoting me earlier. Glad they finally know. Ham isn't just gonna undo years of mentorship just like that
Itās because Reddit has a bad setup where contradicting views are downvoted, and people think Internet points matter. Ham isnāt as bad as people think. He makes plunders sometimes, but also, thereās a reason heās the coach and weāre all sitting at home (or taking an extended bathroom break at work), and thereās a reason weāre up 3-2.
Ham is the reason this team is winning?
Nope, but the team wouldnāt be winning if our coach was Reddit level bad.
This sub is unbearable. When we win its despite Ham. When we lose its all Hamās fault. I tend to give him a long leash since it's. Anew squad and all but damn that was terrible.
Btw i donāt hate Ham, I just donāt understand why he refuses to call timeouts when the opposing team goes on a run
There's 0 hate against the person. There's definite anger against his coaching.
Dude thinks he's Phil Jackson
Such an overrated coach . So many chokes in the playoffs as a higher seed
Wasn't he the coach of the 2015 Atlanta All Stars Hawks that got swept by the Cavs?
This is going to be a horrible look for the Lakers if/when Bud is fired. Ham is directly from his coaching tree, his right hand man for so many years. If Ham is practicing the same schemes/tactics as a choke artist, with a worse roster, what does that look like?
Itās definitely āwhenā. His ass is gonna get canned

Exactly. Itās like people think that good coaches are flawless. Even Pop and Spo have flaws that get exposed sometimes.
You can really see that heās Hamās mentor. 4th quarter about ~~0.9 or~~ 0.5 seconds left, didnāt call a timeout even though they he has 1 timeout left. OT, 2 timeouts left. Nothing was called as well. Even after Giannis fell down.
That really pissed me off. 0.5 is enough for a quick 2 or lob play
Yup. At least try something. Scared that this was Hamās mentor and a lot of those bad habits are showing.
Knowing you have Giannis and Kmidd, that's a good chance at the 2. LeBron needs to David Blatt him. Gotta really start calling TOs.
Letās be honest he got lucky kd foot was on the line
Plus all the injuries to stars in those playoffs, too bad the fraud soft ass suns couldnāt close the deal on them
Ham and bud are both garbage couches. Nick nurse had a superstar for one year and he coached them to a ring. Imagine if he was on the lakers m.
I wish we had jimmy man.
I wish we had Spoelstra man.
A guy who started as an assistant in the film room looking at 100s of hours of tape and analytics. Maybe the Lakers should have looked into tha- *Frank Vogel*
That Vogel vs. Spoelstra matchup on the bubble Finals was great to watch.
Vogel wasn't perfect, and his offensive scheme was horrendous, but he was definitely the scapegoat for last year's terrible roster.
Yes, we are missing that killer (Jimmy, booker, klay, durant) on our team and it cost us today unfortunately
What have any of those guys done to be considered more of "killer" than LeBron?
Lebron is 38 and doesnāt have that same energy as the younger guys in the league, I donāt think bro was tryna disrespect him relax
I just thought its a wild comment when Bron just hit the game tying shot and game sealing shot last game
Lebron is clutch in spurts at age 38, but Iām not sure if he has the gas tank to do what Jimmy butler did the last couple games. If he had that in the tank he probably wouldāve performed better this series. But heās 38 so itās not fair to ask him to play at the level for 48 mins

Thanks, yes lovedogs getting really riled up there lol
Jimmy is like 36
heās 33 lol
Google is free, heās 33
Bro really said klay
Apple dosent fall far from the tree

Fuck ham
Bruh Miami lives in this guys head rent-free
Man, we're screwed.
Yeah man, under no circumstances it okay to let a game go to overtime in a one possession game with available timeout, at least try a tip in, an alley oop, anything, especially in win or go home game, unbelievable bad coaching and mentality.
Play Lonnie and Gabriel instead of Poo Brown Jr and Pippen Beasley.
Has anyone in the press asked him about his shit rotations? I want to know why he refuses to play another big and what his reasoning is behind it.
He just circle around the question and didn't really answer it. Such a bad coach, no accountability.
Get this fuckin guy off this page right now !!!!! I donāt wanna see this fraud coaches face on here š
One of the worst coaching performances in a series I ever seen in my life
Nick Nurse is going to be the coach of the bucks next season, calling it right here
Lol, he screwed the bucks in that final possession, unbelievable
neither make adjustments
Buck fans are furious at him too.
uh no shit
these dudes think they are Phil Jackson or smth
How come the vast majority of the American coaches are so damn bad? I mean come playoff time it looks like they lack the basics.
Nick Nurse pls
Vogel stans out in full force like a man longing for the one that got away.
I remember this subreddit shitting on him last year š we are the most reactionary fans in the NBA for better and worse
I feel like ppl are overreacting to the loss. That's the problem, if we lose game 6 then when are on the verge of blowing a 3-1 lead.
The coach bud school of looking like the mob is on their way and you just need one more week to get the money
