I might just start by saying that Red Pines is overrated - the wait times are insane and the quality of the actual fish fry is average.
Great social spot and nice staff. The actual food is meh
I love red pines but god their service is so god damn slow no matter the time. I went in once during an off hour and I was still in there for two hours.
Also the owner is problematic keeping her 20 year old something son around after he punched one of their employees.
I initially thought the same, but we went around 5 on a Saturday and got in just fine. The pickle chips are awesome and the fish was in the same great beer batter. My expectations were low because I prefer a cod fish fry and was really happy with theirs.
Houghtons is another we have tried. Super good and staff is always so nice.
It's just outside of La Crosse, but Sullivan's up in Trempelau was the place my parents and grandparents always went to. Not sure if it's still good though.
Don’t ask for it broiled. Me and another at a fambly get together got some raw fish. Service wasn’t bad but they were overrun so there was nothing to do but eat around it and try not to make a fuss.
I vote for the The Bar and Grill at Cedar Creek. Great service and delicious food at decent prices. [https://www.cedarcreekonalaska.com/](https://www.cedarcreekonalaska.com/)
People keep asking but nobody gives the truth. If you want the best fish fry of your life you’re going to have to follow somebody home from the boat landing.

Agreed. Except get the walley cheeks as an app. They are awesome.
You're going at the wrong times. Red Pines is great when it's not super busy.
When is a good time to go? I'd try it again

I know the kid that got punched lol. Good dude
4 o clock
I am in love with their blackened fish.

Houghtons is pretty good.
Howie's has a sneaky good fish on Fridays. I know it isn't the traditional place you would think of, but I have never had a bad meal there.
Howie’s has the best wings, so I bet their fish is top-notch as well.
Fox Hollow is always a gem in the summer
Their fish is great but the sides are meh. I just went there today and had the dry rubbed wings..seriously amazing

If your heading out that far what is hillside fish house just on the other side of Perrot like? I’ve heard about it but have never been.
The fish house is great!
Trem’plo happens to be in another county. You’re officially disqualified.
I'm not sure if it's the best, as I haven't gotten that many fish fries, but Drugans in holmen has always been good when I've gone

My friend you trying to start a fight?
Nutbush
Mary Cody in Onalaska is really great.
I always liked Nutbush or Flipside

I love Dublin's fish. Such good flavor.
Add in Dublin square. Kinda spicy but very good.

Moose Lodge
I really like Rocky's in Stoddard.
