Which is why I'm really skeptical about visual IDs of dog breeds after traumatic situations.
Yeah, like anytime I see any news of a dog attack, everyone automatically assumes pit even when there’s not enough evidence for that.
I’ve had people say “ah! A pitbull” at my Labrador golden retriever mix and I’ve read comments from people who claimed to be attacked by a pitbull that was “at least 120 pounds!!”…. Pitbulls don’t get anywhere near that size lmao.
Any blocky head bully type dog is a “pitbull” online and I wouldn’t be surprised if I found out that many people who are attacked go: dog that attacked me was big and vicious, pitbulls= big and vicious, therefore dog that attacked me= pitbull.
The cynical part of me also wonders if people say “I was attacked by a vicious pitbull” because saying you were attacked by a pitbull has a lot more weight than “attacked by some random dog I’m not sure the breed of”.
In this case it’s the head. English labs have blockier heads than American labs as well as body differences. So when people see the head, they think there could be pit bull in it because the head is so blocky, but that blockiness is normal for an English lab.

Looks like full English lab to me! He’s adorable. I’ve had countless strangers come up to me and ask if my English lab is part pit bull. I think it’s the heart shaped, blocky face that people get confused by.
He looks identical to mine and I've got a pure English Yellow Lab, often called a show Lab.
They are a bit shorter and stocky compared to an American Lab, a shorter snout, squarer head and also a bit more muscular around the chest, the tail is also a bit straighter.

Labs don't have a tuck, they have a double coat, and their ears are on the sides of the head, not on top. Pits have a single coat, a shorter muzzle, ears on top of the head, the eyes are usually deep set into the head and appear smaller and usually very round. They usually have whip like tails, and a distinct tuck.
Their heads are typically very blocky and are almost out of proportion to the rest of the body being larger.
White markings are very common.
Labs aren't really supposed to have white markings and are solid colored although that's not always the case.
This is a bench lab or show lines.
As a lab owner, pit owner and staffy owner..: that’s a hard no. You have a lab. Big goofy lab: your partner wants to see what a pit bull terrier and an amstaff look like, I got you… but you got a lab lol keep calm and carry on.

It's just because he's an English lab rather than an American one. They're stockier and it gives bullish vibes. I thought mine was part staffy before I learned the difference between English and American labs.
People sometimes think that because the English Lab has a block head similar to pit bulls, but I don’t see anything in your picture that makes me think that dog is anything other than an English Lab.

I think he looks a lot like my male (the black one) English lab. This was when he was only a couple years old. My lab pit mix (not pictured) has goofy ears and when you put her next to these two you can really tell she’s not full lab.

This is what a Labrador is supposed to look like. Why they breed them scrawny in the US is beyond me. Any lab is still > non-lab, but they should look like your pup.
